Chapter 27: Chapter 27- Does such Woman Exist?

"A-aahh—M-murder!?" One of the ministers was the first to break the silence as he yelled, processing what had just happened in front of him.

But before he could yell further, another womanly voice sliced through the air.

"So even Holy Knights are involved in this atrocity with the High Priest?"

Everyone turned to see a woman entering from the doorway, causing their eyes to widen in fear.

Particularly the knights, who, peering from behind their armor’s face masks, trembled and quickly knelt.

One after another, they knelt before her, a unison resonating in the room.

"W-we greet the holy light of Goddess Agastasa!"

Even faster than they had broken through the door, they all knelt, as if switching sides quicker than the ministers could process.

Both men stood, sweat beads rolling down their faces as they looked at the woman, who was as beautiful as they remembered and as cold as they felt.

She was Saintess Grace Agastasa.

"Hm," Grace narrowing her gaze towards the knights before coldly shifting her attention to the ministers.

In doing so, she caught sight of Akhil, who stood frozen, looking back at her.

He hadn’t expected the knights to react this way.

Same as in his previous life, he thought they would follow the High Priest’s command and attack them after witnessing his murder, contrary to what he anticipated regarding Saintess’ words being true.

His plan had been to orchestrate the scene and make it an official execution in front of most of the noblemen.

But as advised by Grace, he had killed the High Priest, who was the one suggesting he do so.

While he thought this would create obstacles, he was now witnessing the knights bowing to her.

"The High Priest seems to have fallen into his own trap. What about you all?" Grace mused, already aware that for Holy Knights, their allegiance lay more with the Goddess than any specific faction.

Their source of strength stemmed from their belief; the more faith they had in their Goddess, the stronger they became.

Amusingly, this High Priest had brought the strongest of the Holy Knights from the monastery.

In essence, he had gathered those with the most faith in the Goddess before her, who should be the closest to her because of her status as a saintess.

Normally, they would have followed the High Priest’s orders, considering she would have been defiled and lost her status as a saintess, along with a substantial amount of her divine power, which would put the High Priest in command.

However, by preserving her chastity, she had maintained her status and the divine power necessary to command them.

It was clear to her that the High Priest wanted the king to defile her so she would lose most of her divine power, thereby making him second-in-command and the holder of full authority over the Holy Knights.

Now, with her ensuring his death, she had become the sole authority.

"WE FOLLOW THE GUIDANCE OF OUR GODDESS AND THE PATH PAVED TO HER BY THE SAINTESS!"

Without hesitation, the knights declared their loyalty to the Goddess and the Saintess who could communicate with her.

"Wh-what is the meaning of this?!"

"Wh-why the hell are you all acting like this?!"

Both ministers quaked, their legs trembling as they felt an overwhelming chill, witnessing the knights—who should have been their support—switch sides more swiftly than they could manage.

A nobleman could change allegiances; that was understandable, but how could a Holy Knight do so? Shouldn’t they be the upholders of justice?

"B-bastards, where is your justice—"

"AAARGGHHHH!"

Before they could finish their condemnation, a sudden scream caused them to flinch.

They turned toward the bed, where the bodies of the High Priest and the woman fell to opposite sides.

The man below, still alive, was revealed—a sword having stopped just before the beheading—showing the finance minister bathed in blood, screaming and trembling in trauma.

"F-finance..."

It was easy for them to recognize him, but they found their voices caught in their throats as they stared at him in fear.

"Arrest all of these traitors," Grace ordered the knights without hesitation.

According to the king, she needed to provide him a reason to declare the execution of the noblemen, instilling fear among the remaining ones.

This was why he proposed executing the High Priest, but due to her intervention, he wasn’t able to do so. Now, she would assist him, as it was her suggestion to kill the High Priest.

What had unfolded resembled mutual benefit rather than self-serving agendas, considering that today both of them might have ended with an execution borne from the High Priest’s foolish plan, which appeared more like the result of that young man now lying unconscious on the ground.

"Aaah!—n-no saintess!?"

Soon, the knights arrested the ministers, binding their hands with holy light chains before dragging them out of the room while they yelled.

Grace simply gestured for the remaining knights to stand outside the room’s door as they escorted out all three ministers—both of the two, who had arrived with them, and the finance minister, now blood-soaked and traumatized.

"King Lysanderic, I must suggest that the chances of this man—" But before she could indicate that this young man was most likely behind all of this, Akhil interrupted.

"I am aware that she is the one behind all this," Akhil nodded, recalling memories as he gazed at the young man lying unconscious on the ground.

"She?" Grace, hearing the King’s words, looked towards the young man lying on the floor unconscious.

Her eyes instinctively moved towards the young man’s chest, which was as flat as a marble floors of monastery, making her squint her eyes as she looked towards the King, thinking that perhaps he had made a mistake while referring to the young man.

"She is indeed a woman," Akhil nodded, asserting this to dispel her suspicions, as he would have had similar doubts if it weren’t for his memories.

After the establishment of the theocracy, the high priest had somehow died due to an unexpected disease.

It turned out that this was part of a secret plan from the demon queen he had served, who sent one of her secret agents into his old kingdom to establish the theocracy and corrupt the land from within.

"Huh? But don’t flat chests belong to men?" Grace tilted her head, unable to process her thoughts as she looked towards the King and the young man lying on the floor with a confused gaze.

She couldn’t understand how a woman with a flat chest could exist.
