Reborn; A Slave to the World-Chapter 84: Goddess of Death
Chapter 84: Goddess of Death
As always she seems to be watching over everything that’s happening, can’t say I’m too surprised. The only difference is that she doesn’t sound like the happiest person this time around.
Usually she has joy and happiness in her voice when I arrive or some sort of excitement but today is different. Is it because the heart revealed her to me just like the dreams?
"You seem to be in a bit of a sour mood." Artemis says while observing her expressions.
Her tone and expressions all say that she is upset so that’s the best I can observe for now. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
She stands up and walks over to Artemis, something that she hasn’t really done with each encounter. "I’m not upset with you, I just didn’t want to reveal this to you yet." The woman responds with a bit of sadness in her voice.
I really can’t seem to understand this goddess every time we meet back in this field, it’s always confusing. I can’t seem to read her at all compared to any of the other people I’ve encountered within the world.
"Reveal what?" Artemis questions with a curious tone in his voice.
Maybe she is a bit nervous about whatever she’s going to reveal but I feel like I’m already pretty close to knowing it anyway. She has to be Nyxoria...
"I am the goddess of death that you’ve been trying to prevent from coming back into the world. I don’t think that everyone is right with what I want or don’t want but I did want revenge for a long time." She answers with sadness in her voice.
Nyxoria really is standing before me, but why would she give me all this if I was going to stand against her? Wouldn’t you want to help those who want you back in the world over those who don’t?
I can’t seem to understand how she thinks but that’s what I’d go with if it was up to me.
"Then why help me like you’ve been?" Artemis asks, even more confused than before.
"You’ve got the potential to change this world for the better, but I’ve chained you up even more than I expected. You could be a lot stronger but I’ve held you back, for good reasons." Nyxoria answers while trying to figure out how to go forward with this.
So she basically restrained me just like Amelia did with the pact? At least that’s what I’m gathering from this conversation so far but why?
After I get out from this whole conversation with Nyxoria I’m going to talk to Amelia about the pact. There’s no need for me to be restrained by it when I’m already going to protect her anyway.
There’s no need for me to be held back by everyone else, I should be able to use my power to its fullest extent possible.
"Then take away the restraints." Artemis says with more of a serious tone to his voice.
Her eyes seem to look him up and down a few times as she debates it. "If you defeat the cult by the end of your 18th year, I’ll take them off." Nyxoria replies with a laid back tone now in her voice.
So that gives me about a year and a half since I’ll be 17 soon. It’s definitely possible for me to do since we’ve already gotten through this continent quite fast. I’m honestly just worried about how strong everyone else will be in the other continents.
We probably need to head back to Zerif since nothing was dealt with there, we just left for Heartfeld without even worrying about it. I’m sure the cult leader is lingering around there somewhere.
"Fine, I can handle that." Artemis says with confidence in his voice.
Even if I die to any of them I’ll be able to come back so there isn’t any real issues with this. I’ll just have to play it smart so I don’t have to die to win every single one of those fights.
It takes a toll on my mental health every time I have to see the deaths of the people I care about and even the deaths I endure. None of it is pleasant by any means.
"Come take a seat for a bit, it’s only fair to share some of my story with you before sending you back." Nyxoria suggests as she heard back over to the table.
A bit of her past might help me understand some things about this world a bit better since I haven’t gotten to read anything about the old gods. It really is quite the system they have setup in this world for people to truly unlock their potential.
I never really thought about it until now so this could be beneficial to me in a lot of different ways.
Artemis walks over and takes a seat at the table with her as he takes a few looks around. The place didn’t seem to change at all but he still felt like something was off with everything around him.
Maybe I should ask her about the girl before she starts telling me about her past. That could give me something to work with when I see her next.
She’s had all these secrets this whole damn time so it’s the least she could do for me to make my life a bit easier.
"Before you start, who’s the girl I keep hearing or even the one that I keep seeing?" Artemis asks with curiosity in his voice.
Surely she won’t keep that from me after telling me who she is now. That can’t be another big secret that she doesn’t want me to know about...
"I’m sure you saw the resemblance we both have to each other. That girl is my little sister, she’s always been by my side throughout the years that have passed." Nyxoria explains with a sad look in her eyes.
The little sister of the goddess of death?
