Rebirth: The unfavored Princess is the Tyrant King's favorite-Chapter 147: Hold on tight
"Nick, this is crazy; what if someone sees us," she reasoned, but she had begun undressing anyway.
Nicholas smirked seeing her perfect curves that were hidden behind the many layers of clothes that were beginning to show. But she was undressing at such a slow pace that Nicholas was getting impatient.
"Let me help you out of that," he said, coming closer to her.
"No, wait, I’m almost done, see?" She said and then added,
"Erm, Can you turn?"
"What is my wife shy of? I’ve already seen and eaten everything several times already," he said.
"Nick!" She chastised.
"What?!" He mimicked her tone.
"I can paint you fully naked with my eyes closed, Luciana; the only reason I’ve not done that is fearing it might fall into the wrong hands," he drawled seductively, and Luciana blushed.
The cold air blew just as she had taken off her last clothing and Luciana involuntarily shivered. This was crazy, the thought of going into the cold lake made her shivering become even stronger.
She threw her hands around his naked body and immediately felt hot from the body contact. His body was warm as if he wanted to burn her, but at the same time very comfortable.
"We could forget about plunging into the water and plunge into something more meaningful," he said, giving her a knowing look.
"Nick, you pervert, keep your head straight. Don’t you dare have any ideas," she protested, and he laughed at her horrified expression. He was only messing with her.
"Okay, let’s jump in already; I’m feeling cold all over," she said.
"How strange...I’m feeling hot all over just feeling you pressed against me like this," he teased.
"Nick!"
"Okay, okay, come, let’s jump in together from this side," he said and pulled her to another part of the lake; the land in that area looked much higher.
When they both stood at the edge, Nicholas spoke again.
"Give me your hand, hold on tight, I’ll count to three, and we jump in together, okay?... One!"
"Nick, wait, let me prepare myself first."
"Two!"
"Wait!"
"Three!"
"Nick!" She protested, but she jumped with him anyway, and they both plunged into the water with a loud splash.
Nicholas had been watching her all this while hoping she would risk it, put away her fears, and jump into the unknown with him.
Because he was the murderer of her parents and he knew that she had married him to avenge her parents, he couldn’t deny that there was always a certain kind of fear that came with having her around.
The fear that he would wake up one day and realize this was a very bad dream. He feared he might wake up one day in a world without her.
"I will not leave my husband; in fact, the thought never crossed my mind," these words she had spoken to his second brother made him feel like he was dreaming. He had never thought that he’d be so happy hearing such declarations.
He watched her as she began to swim away from him and chuckled. ’Didn’t she just see she didn’t know how to swim?’ he thought and shook his head as he saw her dip deeper into the water.
He swam towards her but realized she was still not coming up and his heart plunged into his stomach. ’Why is she still underwater?’
"Luciana!" He called, but she didn’t answer, and his heart began to speed up as he dived into the deep waters to search for her. He couldn’t find her, the waters looked darker than he remembered.
He came up to the surface and dived in again only to feel someone wrap around him and pull him up.
"Nick, are you alright? You scared me, you were drowning," she said with a frightened look on her face.
He watched her tongue-tied, not knowing if he should scold him for that scare she gave him or if he should feel touched that she just tried to pull him up because she thought he was drowning.
"You shouldn’t have done that..."
"I had always fantasized about saving you from harm like you do for me. You looked so scared going up and down the water before I pulled you up, I thought you said you had swum in the lake several times," she said and let out a relieved laugh.
Nicholas didn’t know if it was possible to love someone too much, this little thing kept doing things that made the hope that had sprouted in his heart from hearing her previous declaration grow even more.
"I wasn’t drowning; you are the one who scared me with what you did; I was searching for you," he said, and she gave a little "oh" as if she was disappointed that she hadn’t really saved him.
She wrapped her hands around his body and said softly,
"The next time you are in trouble or tired, just lean on me; I’ll be there to catch you when you fall. I also want to be your safe haven," said and added,
"Hug me, I’m feeling cold."
Nicholas wrapped his arms around her not waiting to be told twice. His body reacted to her closeness, but he tried to focus on having her close and not having any ulterior motives; she was still recuperating.
"Is that all you are going to do?"
"Hmm?" Nicholas raised his brows in confusion.
"I told you to hug me, and you just hug me and are not doing anything else," she said, and Nicholas chuckled.
"This sounds like an invitation, were you expecting me to do something else?" He asked with feigned innocence.
"No way!" She said exaggeratedly. Nicholas laughed.
"Your face looks like you are thinking of that thing," he teased.
"Me? No! I just thought you might be thinking about it, that’s all, my mind is very clean," she said with a straight face.
"I thought you wanted me to hug you because you were feeling cold, but you had ulterior motives for approaching this innocent prince," Nicholas said, and Luciana’s eyes widened in shock.
"Who has ulterior motives? You are clearly the one..."
Nicholas couldn’t take it anymore and kissed her, cutting her off.

Goddess Harriet had finally entered the lake on the side of the mortal realm and an evil grin broke out on her face.
