Wu Tang and Tang Mei exchanged glances as they took their respective places on the bed.

"I was not lying when I said I was your father," Wu Tang started as his eyes searched Tang Ni’s face for a change in expression, but his face was blank.

Wu Tang swallowed, suddenly finding it unnerving to speak with Tang Ni.

"The thing is, I dated your mom years ago, and the relationship resulted in you," Wu Tang continued. It was a lie, and he was finding it difficult to continue.

At the mention of this lie, Tang Mei snapped her head towards him in astonishment. She was not expecting that his ’excuse’ would turn out to be that.

Nevertheless, she did not stop him. Anything that could stop Tang Ni from having doubts, she was not going to stop it.

Wu Tang was able to grasp the look in his eyes, and he felt proud of Tang Ni. He took after him, it was best to be observant.

Tang Ni’s eyes darted between his acclaimed dad, and the mother he had always known.

"Why do you both fight always?" After a couple of minutes, Tang Ni finally spoke up, asking a very salient question.

For the umpteenth time, the couple exchanged glances.

"Uhm, that’s because mommy was severely annoyed with daddy for leaving her, I could not stand him, but, he is your father, and, I...love...him," Tang Mei cringed at the last statement, the same went for Wu Tang.

"Is that so?" Tang Ni asked with his finger placed on his chin. He was skeptical about the story told, but there was nothing he could do, but give them the benefit of doubt.

"Come on Mom, Dad, let’s have breakfast like one big family, you know, I have always dreamt about having my dad with me while I had any meal, it was only mom, but now you are here, I am thankful for that," Tang Ni enthusiastically informed them, skipping out of the bed with a chuckle.

The two laughed as they followed him out of the room to the dining.

While they were having dinner, they were interrupted by an intruder. It was not necessarily an intruder, it was someone they were both familiar with, Shi Liran.

Tang Mei dropped her cutlery for the table feeling exhausted just by the mere presence of her stepmother.

"What do you want mom?" Tang Mei asked as she watched Shi Liran approach the dining room with a fiery look in her eyes.

"You are asking me that? You think it is easy to find out my daughter has a child? When were you going to tell me?" Shi Liran demanded, not caring about where she was.

"Mom, please, you have to remain calm," Tang Mei spoke up calmly. She was already expecting her mother to show up, but she did not expect it to be this early.

It seems the reporters could not wait anymore as they released the news almost immediately.

"I thought the child belonged to Wu Tang, how come it is yours?" Shi Liran took deep breaths before questioning him.

"You will not be able to get the explanation if you do not allow me to speak," Tang Mei replied.

She looked at Tang Ni who was staring at Shi Liran with a hint of curiosity in his eyes.

"Fine, I am all ears, I would like to listen to your explanation," Shi Liran stated with her eyes blazing in fury.

"Mom, do you want me to explain while he is in the room?" Tang Mei carefully asked, her eyes darting between Shi Liran and Tang Ni.

"Fine, have breakfast, when you are done, you can explain to me, I have all day to listen," Shi Liran quietly spoke as she walked to the living room. She was going to get to the root of the matter, even if it took a long time.

A couple of minutes later, Wu Tang and Tang Ni went to the playroom, leaving Shi Liran and Tang Mei behind. Wu Tang left Tang Mei to do the explanation.

"Mom," Tang Mei called out, gaining the attention of the older woman.

"I am all ears, have your seat, now tell me, how did you end up with a child?" Shi Liran questioned immediately.

Tang Mei took a deep breath in to stabilize her emotions, before finally telling her the truth.

After Tang Mei was done revealing the truth to her, Shi Liran was stunned, and she was at a loss for words.

"Is this the reason you never spoke up for your dad and brother?" Shi Liran barely managed to ask, everything was beginning to add up.

"Yes, I could not bring myself to forgive them for their wrongdoings, they might be my relatives, but it is a fact that they are rapists, and I despise rapists," Tang Mei paused.

Her emotions were all over the place, and she was in a volatile position. She could be triggered by any little thing. Talking about her past hurt her a lot.

Her entire body trembled in anger and hurt. Truly, she thought she had been able to move on from the terrible past, but that was a massive lie. She was still hung up on the past.

"Because you were a victim of rape," Shi Liran helped her complete the statement.

"Yes," Tang Mei replied with her eyes closed, and her hands balled into fists.

"Why did you not tell me about it? Why did you not tell your father about it when it happened? You gave birth to a child without my knowledge, would you have kept him a secret if he did not show up yesterday at the wedding?" Shi Liran questioned with a disappointed sigh.

"Yes, I would have kept his existence a secret, I will be judged, my son will be judged by society," Tang Mei answered almost immediately.

She was close to ruffling her hair due to the frustration she felt bubbling in her.

"I know I should not be asking you this, but who is his father?" Shi Liran inquired quietly.

"Wu Tang," Tang Mei answered in a quiet voice.
