Rebirth! The Assassin's Revenge-Chapter 553: You’re Lying
Ling Tianyou drove all the way to the addiction rehabilitation center where Tianze was currently staying. It was a bright, sunny day, but Gu Ningyue inexplicably felt a bit oppressed.
Holding the items she bought for Tianze, Gu Ningyue looked at Ling Tianyou and said, "Don’t burden yourself too much. Given the situation, you still need to find a way to let go."
Of course, Ling Tianyou understood these principles, but implementing them was still somewhat challenging.
After all, this was his younger brother whom he had grown up with!
After showing his ID card and entering the facility, it took only a few minutes before a familiar doctor came to greet them. "President Ling, Young Madam, please follow me."
Gu Ningyue followed Ling Tianyou as they first arrived at the doctor’s office.
The décor here was very simple, with some items used for simulations placed on the cabinet.
Gu Ningyue glanced at them and quickly withdrew her gaze.
"How has my brother been doing recently?" Ling Tianyou asked straightforwardly, looking at the doctor in front of him. "Can he be discharged after six months?"
The doctor didn’t rush to answer, pouring water for Gu Ningyue and Ling Tianyou before saying slowly, "President Ling, I understand you’re very concerned about your brother. But addiction treatment is a lifelong journey."
Ling Tianyou nodded, "I know. How’s his condition recently? Is he still having big outbursts like before?"
When Tianze was first brought here, he was very difficult to deal with, and Ling Tianyou was still worried to this day.
"Young Master Ling’s emotions have stabilized, and after being persuaded by the staff, he participates in some activities. However, most of the time, he just sits by the window, daydreaming."
Ling Tianyou sighed; he was still resentful of himself.
Tianze, pampered since childhood and fond of bustling activities, must find being with these addicts extremely painful!
Just thinking about it made Ling Tianyou feel distressed.
"Has anyone else visited him before us?" Gu Ningyue wondered, suddenly asking.
The doctor nodded, "Young Master Ling’s wife visited once, but aside from that, no one else has come."
Gu Ningyue asked, "He doesn’t know we’re here yet, does he?"
"No," the doctor replied, saying to Gu Ningyue and Ling Tianyou, "Mainly, we want to discuss Young Master Ling’s psychological state with you. Although Young Master Ling has kicked the physical addiction, his mental state is poor. If it’s not properly addressed, the likelihood of relapsing after discharge is very high. Unless you intend to keep him here for life, it’s impossible."
Ling Tianyou looked at the doctor, "Are you helpless too?"
The doctor sighed, seeming a bit troubled, "We’ve tried many methods, but have never encountered a case like Young Master Ling’s."
"What’s wrong with Tianze?" Ling Tianyou asked in a slightly choked voice.
The doctor was silent for two seconds before speaking to both of them, "Young Master Ling refuses to communicate, and initially, he even had faint suicidal tendencies. Though the danger has now been averted, given the current situation, some family persuasion is still needed. There’s a limit to what we can do. Because, often, the bond of family cannot be replaced."
Ling Tianyou’s face showed difficulty at these words; Tianze was unwilling to see him, and even if he intervened, it would be futile.
It might even lead to more extreme behavior.
With this in mind, Ling Tianyou also hesitated.
Coming here today might not have been the best decision.
Seeing this, Gu Ningyue glanced at Ling Tianyou and said, "Let’s not tell him Ling Tianyou was here; say it was just me and that I have something to tell him. Let’s observe his attitude first; if he’s willing to see me, that’s great; if not, we’ll reconsider."
Ling Tianyou asked, "Ning Yue, can you handle it alone?"
Ling Tianyou already knew about the previous matters—Gu Ningyue had sent everyone from that villa here as well, and perhaps Tianze still bore a grudge against his sister-in-law.
Gu Ningyue smiled, "What can he do to me? Can he overpower me or take advantage of me?"
Ling Tianyou pressed his lips together; Tianze was different from him, always protected since childhood.
Let alone facing Gu Ningyue; even other slightly skilled people would not be matched by Tianze.
"Don’t worry! I won’t harm him," Gu Ningyue assured, patting Ling Tianyou’s shoulder, and left alongside the doctor.
Ling Tianyou sat on the sofa, feeling for the first time what it meant to be a coward.
He didn’t even have the courage to follow, fearful of seeing Tianze’s rejecting glance.
All the way to the ward door, the doctor knocked before entering, with Gu Ningyue waiting outside.
After a while, the doctor came out and said to Gu Ningyue, "Young Madam, please go ahead."
Gu Ningyue nodded, pushed the door, and walked into the ward.
The place was warmly decorated—though not as luxurious as home, far better than a hospital.
For Tianze, who had not long been released from the detention facility, this must be a lot better than he expected.
Tianze sat at the edge of the bed, back facing her, staring at the sun outside, absorbed in thought.
Gu Ningyue partially closed the door, came in front of Tianze, and blocked his view. "Tianze."
Tianze looked up; the once spirited and confident man was nowhere to be seen.
His face was fragile and pale, invoking a sense of pity. Though still handsome, his entire being resembled a extinguished flame, showing no trace of his once vibrant life.
"You’ve come." Tianze’s voice carried a hint of sarcasm, "Where’s my brother? Just you?"
Gu Ningyue folded her arms, leaned against the window, and said, "Do you still acknowledge him as your brother?"
Tianze’s clouded eyes shifted slightly, "What difference does it make? We still share the Ling name."
Gu Ningyue looked at him, "Knowing this, you shouldn’t treat him as you do. Your brother is very worried about you; whenever he mentions you, he looks troubled. In all these years, when have you seen him with that expression?"
Tianze let out a cold laugh, "I disgraced the Ling Family, of course, he’s troubled. After all, the entire Ling family is under his control. Oh no, from the beginning, it was always his. What am I? I’m nothing."
Gu Ningyue furrowed her brows—is this really the Ling Tianze she once knew?
She couldn’t believe such words came from the mouth of the man before her!
"Why think this way?" Gu Ningyue asked Tianze, "Did someone say something to you?"
Tianze paused, a subtle, hard-to-detect emotion flickered in his eyes, "No, this is all what I feel inside."
Gu Ningyue fixed her gaze on him, uttering, "You’re lying!"
