Rebirth: The Ascent of a Socialite-Chapter 589 - 239: Plunder Amid Chaos (Second Update)
"How can we let the queen of the show perform a solo act?" Melin was quite pleased with the magnetic compliment from behind her, and suddenly her view was filled with a whole bunch of pink roses.
A total of ninety-nine roses, tinting Melin’s face pink, she turned around and saw those eyes that had appeared in her dreams several nights in a row.
"It’s you!" Melin hadn’t been drinking, but her mind suddenly became muddled, this man, isn’t he the one she met in the bar? Why is he here?
The backstage area, where outsiders should not be allowed, how did he get in? Melin seemed somewhat flustered; she was about to go on stage, and now wasn’t the time for idle chatter with a man. Biting her lip, she found herself unable to drive the man away.
"How did you come?" Melin’s voice contradicted the anticipation in her eyes.
"To deliver these roses, I couldn’t conveniently present them to you during your curtain call, so I snuck in. Please accept this gift from a fan," the man gazed at Melin tenderly, like a passionate admirer.
"You actually came to Tokyo just to deliver a bunch of roses?" Melin was bewildered by the man’s words, her gaze turning enchanted, "I... don’t even know your name?" That night, although she had given a kiss, she had forgotten to ask for the man’s name.
"My name is Pello, please remember it," the sound of Pello’s voice was like a rich wine, instantly intoxicating Melin.
"I, my name is Melin," she introduced herself eagerly.
"Melin?" From outside the dressing room, the knocking of Su Ziceng could be heard, and the door was locked from the inside.
"Don’t let anyone know I’m here, okay?" Pello quickly hid behind a rack of hanging clothes.
"Oh," Melin glanced at where Pello was hiding, feeling annoyed that Su Ziceng had come over at this crucial moment.
"Are you all prepared?" Su Ziceng asked with concern as she entered, she also planned to attend the finale tonight, so she had changed into an Espr outfit, a beige business skirt suit, looking just like a young office lady.
Melin responded indistinctly, allowing Su Ziceng to give her one last check. Su Ziceng whirled around her like a top, muttering: "Clothes, hairstyle, shoes, all OK. Relax your expression a bit. Good, a smile is very important." With that, she herself flashed a big smile.
Hidden behind the stainless steel rack, Pello watched Su Ziceng, who was unaware of the extra person in the room. Once everything was ready, Su Ziceng urged Melin to hurry to the stage.
From here to the show, it was still a ten-minute walk. As she closed the dressing room door when leaving, Su Ziceng noticed the bouquet of pink roses left on the pile of clothes by Melin. She raised an eyebrow and muttered to herself: "Did Jim prepare this? It’s time to order some roses for the finale, but why pink? Red roses would be more festive."
After the door was closed, the dressing room fell into a brief silence, and Pello came out, laughing at the sight of the pink roses, "Red roses, just one is enough for you."
The final night show in Tokyo Shibuya, the only nighttime show, attracted young people and tourists who formed walls of people in the streets of Shibuya. Su Ziceng was also squeezed into the crowd.
Because it wasn’t a regular show, fixed seats couldn’t be arranged to prevent Sister Mu, who has mobility issues, from being hurt by the lively crowd; she wasn’t asked to attend tonight’s finale.
"Melin is in good shape tonight," Jim barely managed to stand still in the crowd, shouting towards Su Ziceng who hadn’t been dispersed by the throng.
"Yes, surprisingly Melin was successful on her first runway show and even has the potential to become an overnight sensation," Su Ziceng’s voice was drowned out by the continuous cheering.
"Remember to give her a shoutout during the curtain call," Su Ziceng wanted to remind Jim to arrange for a few media interviews after the finale to heavily promote Apple; the crowd behind her surged again due to Melin’s appearance, reaching another small climax.
As the throng pushed forward, Su Ziceng staggered backward, getting her feet stepped on multiple times. Just as she bent down to check, several young people squeezed by her, pushing towards the front.
"Hey," Su Ziceng felt her body tilt, losing balance and about to be pushed to the ground, when a pair of strong arms blocked her and prevented her from falling.
