Rebirth: The Ascent of a Socialite-Chapter 461 - 192: Love in the Face of Death (Part 2)
"What are you talking about? Chang Chi, Shang Yin, and what kidnapper," Hang Yishao’s hand reached Su Ziceng’s forehead. The spot his hand touched was covered in cold sweat.
Hang Yishao looked around again, the unfamiliar surroundings and the decaying wooden hut beneath his feet, made him realize that things were not simple. Could it really be that woman Chang Chi, out of love turned to hate, had someone kidnap him.
"What a mess," Hang Yishao thought, his good mood about showcasing his treasure all disrupted. This incident had thrown his plans for a romantic proposal into disarray.
"We need to leave quickly," Su Ziceng said, pulling Hang Yishao towards the door. Her foot was still lame. Hang Yishao moved his limbs, pulled Su Ziceng back, ignoring her struggles, and picked her up in his arms.
They had just taken a few steps when a car light shone from the mountain road. Shang Yin’s car was still parked beside the hut, so who could it be coming from the mountain road?
"No, it must be his accomplice, we..." Su Ziceng glanced back inside the hut, found a small window, "We go through the back, I remember there is a small path behind the mountain."
Why did Ziceng seem so familiar with this place? Hang Yishao found it odd, this kind of wilderness was somewhere Su Ziceng should not have been before.
"Don’t zone out," Su Ziceng patted his face, worried that the effects of Hang Yishao’s anesthesia had not worn off.
The body in his arms was light and soft, stirring feelings in Hang Yishao’s heart, and he looked down at Su Ziceng. They hadn’t been this close in a long time, recently Ziceng had ignored him, he had thought, she had completely forgotten about him.
Hang Yishao didn’t hate Shang Yin, on the contrary, he wanted to truly thank Shang Yin and his unknown accomplice, because of them, he could brazenly hold Su Ziceng in his arms, and be close to her at a short distance.
He reached the window, and pushed the shabby window open, breaking a hole. Hang Yishao first helped Su Ziceng out, then swiftly climbed out with agile movements.
Ziceng was right, there was a reasonably smooth path behind the cabin, winding down the mountain.
The small wooden hut still stood quietly on the mountainside. The cold starlight in the sky barely illuminated the dry mountain soil. In the middle of the night, even the crickets were silent.
The sound of slamming the car door was dull, Pello and Shang Yin got out of the car together.
Before entering, the two lingered outside the hut for a bit. Shang Yin had been busy all day, and needed a few cigarettes to refresh himself.
"Do you really want to get rid of that kid, what has he ever done to you," Shang Yin felt more spirited after smoking a cigarette.
"He’s in the way," Pello didn’t want to explain, nor could he explain, in any case, he felt Hang Yishao was an eyesore.
Shang Yin suddenly looked stern, Pello followed his gaze to the other side of the mountain road. A black object was glinting green.
"Did you tell Chang Chi about this hut?" Pello stepped forward and picked up the phone.
"No, I even turned off my phone," Shang Yin’s eyes flashed with vigilance, he quickly walked towards the hut, and when he reached the door, a new hole in the wood caught his attention.
There was blood on the wooden bars, not yet dry, indicating someone had just been injured here by accident.
The two entered together, the hut was empty, and the broken window let in some cold air.
"I will make sure whoever took them pays dearly," Shang Yin thought about how someone had taken them away right under his watch, and anger surged through him.
Pello didn’t speak, his gaze lingered on a small footprint by the window. He swung out the window, surveyed the grass trampled underfoot, aside from the distinct woman’s footprint under the window, everywhere else, there were only the footprints of a man.
"Carrying someone on unfamiliar mountain paths, the pace should not be fast, let’s split up, you drive to the only way down the mountain, and I will follow the path down," Pello made his decision quickly.
Shang Yin looked at his face, they had worked together many times, even when kidnappings had previous slips, but Pello’s face had never looked as bad as it did today. His face was a bit stiff, and after speaking, he pulled out a handgun.
It seemed, Pello truly intended to kill. Shang Yin did not want to meddle too much in his affairs, waved his hand and walked to the other end of the hut.
