Chapter 24 - Best friend in the world

"What happened?"

Sitting in Sinclair's arms, Camilla tightly clung to him.

Her lovely face was tainted slightly pale.

Her parents had perished in a car accident.

Thus, she had an instinctive fear of such situations.

Sinclair's eyes flickered a bit. With one arm wrapped around Camilla's waist, and the other shielding her head from the side of the car, he was in a full protective stance.

The woman's soft body and sweet scent made his eyes flicker again. This feeling, was not at all, unpleasant.

"Don't be afraid, nothing will happen," Sinclair glanced in the direction where the white Ferrari had disappeared and said casually. "Ramsey, drive."

"Yes," With a calm expression, Ramsey started the car and continued towards their destination, a hint of amusement was flashing in his eyes.

If the old man saw this scene, he would be more than pleased.

As the car roared back to life, Camilla finally came to her senses and realized that she was still clinging tightly to Sinclair, her cheeks slightly flushed.

Why was it that she always found a way to embarrass herself in front of Sinclair in this lifetime?

"I'm sorry, I was a little startled just now," Camilla lifted her gaze to meet Sinclair's, her tone light and feigned indifference.

"Please, set me down."

The two were already at such close proximity that when Camilla looked up, they were almost nose to nose.

Their breaths intermingled, with an undeniable hint of romance in the air, as if time had stood still.

The kiss from last night was purely circumstantial, but now Sinclair was entirely sober.

Feeling her heart race at this close distance, Camilla was taken aback.

Ramsey: !! As a competent executive assistant, he silently raised the partition shield in the back seat.

Observing the deepening blush on Camilla's cheeks, Sinclair's eyes sparked with amusement as he changed his mind in an instant.

"The car is already in motion," Sinclair's thin lips curled into a smile.

He glanced at Camilla's partially undone shirt and started speaking slowly.

"Please sit here."

As he speaks, his arms wrap around Camilla's waist as he continues to be busy with his notebook. Camilla sensed a hint of teasing from his words.

But seeing the indifferent and handsome face of Sinclair, she felt like she was overthinking.

The scent of pine from the man enveloped her, and the areas of contact between them quickly grew hot.

To divert her attention, Camilla turned her head to look at the computer. Upon seeing it, Camilla's beautiful eyes widened. --

They were in the midst of a video conference on the computer!! The faces of the attendees were all burning with the spirit of gossip.

Am I seeing things? Isn't this our Chairman who is known not to be attracted to women? Who is the woman in the Chairman's arms?!

When did the Chairman, known for his aloofness, become so gentle?!

Camilla: !!! Then she noticed Sinclair had a wireless earpiece in his right ear. Clearly, the conference had already begun.

All her actions, including falling into Sinclair's arms and tightly hugging him, were already being broadcasted live. I'm totally embarrassed!!

Camilla's face turned crimson once again. She subconsciously turned her head and buried her hot face deep into Sinclair's neck.

Sinclair stiffened for a moment but immediately relaxed. His deep eyes became even more profound.

In the midst of Camilla's constant prayers, the car steadily parked on the side of the road.

"Madam, we're here." "Okay, okay." Camilla intentionally avoided looking at the computer, hastily opened the car door and got out in a fluster.

"My friends are waiting for me inside, I'm going first, you guys take it slow on the road."

With that, she turned and walked away without hesitation. Watching her acting as if she's in a rush, a slow smile formed on Sinclair's lips.

Just as Camilla had moved a few steps away, Ramsey's voice echoed from behind.

"Madam, could you please wait for a moment."

Camilla looked back, her eyes filled with confusion.

Ramsey bowed his head, handing the thing in his hands to Camilla.

"This is from Mr. Luther for you."

"This is,"

Camilla looked at the familiar black card in front of her.

"Is this Sinclair's supplementary card?"

In her previous life, Sinclair had also given her one early on, but she had never used it.

"Yes," Ramsey smiled.

"There's no password, no limit. You can use it as you like."

"No need," Camilla refused with a smile.

"I have money."

"No matter how much money you have, can you be as rich as Mr. Luther?"

Ramsey turned his head to look in the direction of the back seat, and said in a lowered voice with a smile.

"Even if you were to buy this whole shopping mall, it would be nothing more than a drop in the bucket to Mr. Luther, so don't hold back."

Before Camilla could refuse, Ramsey continued.

"Moreover, if you refuse Mr. Luther's goodwill, both he and the Old Master would be displeased," Ramsey had to admit, he was a persuasive speaker.

Given the circumstances, it would appear somewhat pretentious if she continued to decline. With a glance at Sinclair in the backseat, Camilla accepted with a smile.

Only then did Ramsey breathe a sigh of relief. What he said was the truth, gifts from Mr. Luther was never taken back.

If Madam refused, even though Mr. Luther wouldn't get angry, he'd definitely show a cold face. In the distance, someone watched their every move intently. In the car.

"Without causing any notice, ensure her safety," Sinclair pulled his gaze away from Camilla walking into the mall entrance.

"Additionally, find out who was driving that car just now."

"Yes, Sir."

Immediately comprehending, Ramsey nodded in agreement. -- Inside a mall.

Camilla is still wearing Sinclair's white shirt.

Her seaweed-like chestnut wavy hair is casually scattered behind her, her pale skin looking even more luminous under the light.

Her exquisite features are stunningly beautiful, and a tear mole at the corner of her eyes adds a touch of icy elegance.

Many interested parties are dissuaded by the intimidating aura she exudes.

The woman with her is delightful and endearing, dressed in a light purple skirt.

Her clear, fair face is lit up with a sweet smile.

The two women's outstanding looks and charisma attract many people's attention.

"What?" Tiffany can't take her eyes off her stunning friend, her eyes widened in surprise. "Did I hear it wrong?! You agreed?!"

"Don't worry," Camilla's lips curve into a slight smile, her pretty face now even more dazzling.

"You heard right."

"Camilla, didn't you strongly oppose to this sudden marriage proposal before? Why did you change your mind now?"

Tiffany took a sip of the wine in her hand, her mind spinning rapidly.

"Could it be that they're using the power of the Luther Family to oppress you?"

New novel chapt𝒆rs are published on ƒгeewebnovёl.com.

"Or threatening you with the people around you, forcing you to submit?"

"Or could it be..." As a novelkiss writer, she had written numerous strong yet pitiful female protagonists who had all been through these situations.

"Tiffany, Tiffany!!" Camilla's beautiful eyes were full of helplessness as she interrupted her friend's speculation.

"The Luther Family didn't force me into anything, I agreed to it of my own accord.

Even though my grandfather didn't tell me, he had prepared for this many years ago.

I can't bear to let him down,"

she truthfully admitted. Her grandfather had taught her the Rodriguez family's unique acupuncture technique in advance and forced her to practice it every day, all for Sinclair's illness.

She didn't know why her grandfather did this, however.

"So that's what happened," Tiffany frowned.

"But I've heard that Sinclair..."

Is a bloodthirsty, brutal, grotesquely dark monster.

"Don't worry, they're all rumors," Camilla thought of Sinclair's extraordinarily handsome face and chuckled.

"You'll know once you see him."

"That's good,"

Seeing her friend's confident demeanor, Tiffany let out a sigh and laughed.

"It appears my dream of becoming fabulously wealthy overnight and supporting me is about to become reality!"

"It already has," Camilla waved the card in her hand and led Tiffany into a nearby luxury boutique.

"I'll cover all the expenses today, no limit."

Camilla cornered her mouth in a smile, yet her eyes were filled with tenderness when she inadvertently glanced at Tiffany.

In her previous life, about half a year after she married into the Luther Family, something had happened to Tiffany.

Several of her novels had been slandered as plagiarism.

Nobody believed her explanations and evidence.

Online comments seemed to be manipulated, yielding only one-sided denouncement and abuse.

During that period, Tiffany didn't dare to look at any digital communication tools, nor would she contact anyone. She was on the verge of breaking down.

Even so, those people did not let her go. Some managed to find Tiffany's address through online investigations, camping out at her front door to criticize.

One even disguised themselves as a delivery man, trashing her house to ruin.

Tiffany never said anything about these events to Camilla.

Only when she received a call from the police, she found out tragically that her best friend had jumped off a building.

Overwhelmed by grief, she asked Sinclair to investigate.

The person behind the whole thing turned out to be Tiffany's ex-boyfriend, Arlo.

Sure, Arlo's fate was now sealed, but Tiffany would never come back. Due to this incident, Camilla also fell ill and was hospitalized for over a month.

Now, having been reborn, she will definitely protect Tiffany at all costs!!

"Camilla, this dress suits you so well," Tiffany's voice pulled Camilla back to reality.

"Why don't you try it on?"

"Alright."

Camilla looked at the light blue, body-hugging floor-length dress in front of her. Indeed, it was just her taste. She tactfully turned her gaze to the salesgirl standing aside.

"Could you please help me get that down to try on?"

The salesgirl inspected the woman, dressed in only a plain white shirt with no accessories-- Camilla.

She then glanced at Tiffany, who was simply dressed as well.

A trace of disdain crossed her eyes, but she maintained a smile on her face. "I'm sorry, miss, but this garment is priced in the six figures.

If you can't afford it, we don't recommend trying it on."

"If you won't let me try it, then what's the point of displaying it here?" Tiffany was visibly displeased.

As the salesgirl was about to respond, a familiar female voice chimed in from behind.

"The clothes are displayed here, of course, for those who can afford them to purchase.

As for those who can't, it's enough just to have a look."
