Rebirth: She is Ready for a Counterattack!-Chapter 359 - 358: Injured
In the week following He Cui’s appearance, Gu Xiaoqing was a shell of herself, trying to reassure herself that she would worry if any friend had an issue; it wasn’t just because it was Fang Shaohan, it was purely due to friendship.
But this worry eventually made Gu Xiaoqing uneasy, because the more uneasy she became, the more she thought, and the more she thought, the more terrifying consequences would surface in her mind, further destabilizing her emotions.
Even Guo Donghua noticed Gu Xiaoqing’s anxiety, after subtly inquiring for a long time, since there was no news, Guo Donghua could only advise Gu Xiaoqing to go home, rest, and read, because at the company, Gu Xiaoqing was almost always making mistakes.
Either there was a problem with the financial statements, or she signed in the wrong place, anyway, there wasn’t a day without errors.
Guo Donghua thought it best for Gu Xiaoqing to go home, otherwise he’d worry that this child might end up in trouble.
Gu Xiaoqing indeed returned to her awful state, so she obediently went back to school, she had several exams coming up anyway, which was just right for her to calm down.
But ten days later, the entire calm was shattered.
Gu Xiaoqing received Guo Donghua’s call after dinner, saying someone was waiting for her in the tea shop, asking who it was, surprisingly, it was the police.
This made Gu Xiaoqing instantly feel that there was news about Fang Shaohan.
This sixth sense was strangely accurate, as soon as Gu Xiaoqing saw the two officers, it was confirmed.
"You must be Gu Xiaoqing? We’re from the International Criminal Police Organization."
As soon as the two officers saw Gu Xiaoqing, they immediately saluted, one of them said to Gu Xiaoqing.
Gu Xiaoqing nodded, "I am Gu Xiaoqing, please follow me."
Surrounding them were students there to buy things, curious glances fell on the two officers sitting there, Gu Xiaoqing felt this wasn’t a good place for a conversation.
Apparently, the two officers thought so too, hearing Gu Xiaoqing’s suggestion, they immediately stood up and followed her into the office.
Guo Donghua glanced a few times, finally controlling his curiosity, not going after them, seeing those two people in uniform, he felt it was best to keep a distance.
Who knew what was going on in there.
But it certainly had something to do with Gu Xiaoqing’s recent distress.
Gu Xiaoqing offered two cups of tea to the officers, there was only simple green tea here.
"Miss Gu, don’t bother. We’re here because of Fang Shaohan."
The officer who had spoken stopped Gu Xiaoqing from her actions.
Gu Xiaoqing paused, looking up, "What should I call you?"
This was the International Criminal Police Organization, Gu Xiaoqing’s first thought was that Fang Shaohan was on an international mission.
"My surname is Li, and this is my colleague surnamed Chen."
Officer Li was quite amiable, speaking gently, lacking the typical police demeanor; out of uniform, Gu Xiaoqing might not have believed he was an officer.
"Where is Fang Shaohan now?"
This was the most important thing.
Officer Li stated, "Fang Shaohan assisted us in an undercover mission for the International Criminal Police Organization. The mission has ended successfully, with all criminals captured; however, Fang Shaohan was injured."
Gu Xiaoqing’s fist clenched, the blue veins on it protruding, this did not come as a surprise, otherwise Fang Shaohan wouldn’t be out of contact with his family.
"Is he seriously injured?"
Right after asking, Gu Xiaoqing felt like slapping herself, that was a pointless question.
"He is seriously injured, having been unconscious for an entire month before waking up; now he needs care. He gave us your phone number and address."
Officer Li looked at Gu Xiaoqing and spoke.
So far, Officer Li did not know the relationship between this girl and Fang Shaohan, but Fang Shaohan didn’t ask for his family, only for Gu Xiaoqing, suggesting this girl had a close relationship with Fang Shaohan.
Gu Xiaoqing’s heart sank; the fact that Fang Shaohan asked her to care for him indicated the injury was severe, otherwise, he wouldn’t prevent He Cui from knowing, likely fearing their worry.
"Alright, when do we leave?"
Gu Xiaoqing didn’t say much else.
Officer Li looked outside and said, "Tomorrow morning, first thing. Tonight we’ll book the plane tickets. You handle your own affairs, the time needed will be long, potentially several months, even a year."
The words were mild, but Gu Xiaoqing immediately understood; Fang Shaohan’s recovery might take that long or longer.
She nodded, "Good, you can pick me up here at the tea shop tomorrow morning at eight, okay?"
Gu Xiaoqing had many things to arrange.
One night was very tight.
Officer Li nodded, put on his hat, and departed with Officer Chen.
Gu Xiaoqing sat silent for a long time.
Guo Donghua peeped at the door for a while, only entering with a smile once he met Gu Xiaoqing’s gaze.
"Do you need me to do anything?"
No need for words, Guo Donghua knew Gu Xiaoqing needed his help.
"I’m going away for a while, it certainly won’t work tonight, tomorrow please excuse me from school, the time and return date are uncertain. Also, the store and company matters will rely on you." Gu Xiaoqing had no choice but to say, knowing she’s being selfish, yet her mind was chaotic, striving to clear her thoughts a bit more.
Trying to handle matters smoothly.
Guo Donghua held Gu Xiaoqing’s hand, "Don’t worry, I’m here, as your friend, I’ll be your strongest backup and support. But are you sure you can manage, don’t want to share a bit with me?"
Not probing privacy, just purely wanting to share Gu Xiaoqing’s burden.
"No." She said simply, not intending to continue this topic. Instinctually knowing it wasn’t right to delve into it.
"Alright then, take care, I won’t say more. I’ll look after the house and company, don’t worry, I’ll also take care of your school absence."
Guo Donghua could only do that, the rest was up to Gu Xiaoqing herself. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
Gu Xiaoqing nodded gratefully.
Returned home in a daze, picked up the phone, dialed familiar numbers but then feebly put it down; this wasn’t time to talk to He Cui, probably Fang Shaohan didn’t want to, otherwise, he wouldn’t send people for her.
Simply packed a suitcase with change of clothes, stuffed her wallet with cash and cards, sufficient funds inside, of course, her ID was needed for flying.
It was a sleepless night.
