Rebirth: Regaining Joyful Moments-Chapter 1174 - 1176: The Wedding (Part 3)
Xu Qinghe: "..."
How is this any different?
Yicheng, this kid, I’ve known for so many years. He’s stable and treats Nianhua well. I’m completely at ease leaving Nianhua in his hands.
...
In the bridal chamber at Bishui Huating, Xu Nianhua changed out of her wedding dress and put on the bright red bridal attire Pei Yicheng had prepared for her. It looked like a traditional wedding outfit but was modified to allow her to move more comfortably. The makeup artist gave her a makeover to match her new attire.
After an entire day, by the time Xu Nianhua finally got to return to the bridal suite to rest, not only was her face stiff with a smile, but her legs had also gone numb.
Had she known, she would have listened to Brother Cheng and not worn high heels just to look good. Now both her legs felt like they weren’t her own.
The bridal suite was left with just her and the drunk Pei Yicheng.
"Brother Cheng, have some sobering soup." Xu Nianhua specially brought a cup of sobering tea forward. Just as she was contemplating how to address him, she suddenly felt strong hands grip her waist. When she looked down, she saw Pei Yicheng’s clear eyes.
"You were pretending to be drunk?" Xu Nianhua looked at Pei Yicheng uncertainly. Compared to just moments ago when he was stumbling around in a drunken state, Pei Yicheng now appeared... if not completely sober, at least nowhere near as exaggeratedly drunk as before.
Pei Yicheng hugged her tightly and grinned, "If I didn’t pretend to be drunk, wouldn’t you have ended up taking care of an actual drunkard today?"
To avoid getting truly drunk today, Pei Yicheng went to great lengths and got his grandfather to give him some sobering medicine in advance.
His good friends Cheng Hao and Ling Dong, among others, also did their best to help block drinks for him.
"You’re still full of alcohol fumes. Let go, I need to take a shower, and these hair accessories are too heavy." Xu Nianhua gently struggled a little, contemplating the events about to unfold. She felt extremely nervous.
The garments she wore were of excellent quality. Even though they were light and thin, they still felt a bit sweaty against her skin.
"Alright." Pei Yicheng released her willingly, took the sobering tea she handed over, and drank it in one gulp. Watching her nervous figure dash to the bathroom, a faint smile played across his lips. He stood up and quickly retrieved a pair of boxers from the wardrobe and headed to the guest bathroom.
After washing off most of the alcohol scent, he returned to the bridal chamber. The sight that greeted him was a sea of red; the double happiness characters on the wall looked incredibly festive.
"Nianhua, are you not finished yet?" Pei Yicheng heard the sound of water running in the bathroom and glanced at the time — it’s been over twenty minutes!
Do girls take this long to shower?
"Coming."
Xu Nianhua changed into a red silk nightgown and looked at her flushed face in the mirror. She felt a bit hesitant to step out.
"Nianhua," Pei Yicheng urged again after a moment.
Xu Nianhua took a deep breath, dabbed at her hair with a towel, and walked towards the vanity table, trying her best to act like she usually did at home, avoiding Pei Yicheng.
"Let me." Pei Yicheng picked up a hairdryer and gently pressed Xu Nianhua to sit down on the stool. "Just sit still, and I’ll dry your hair for you."
Pei Yicheng’s actions were somewhat clumsy but very careful.
Xu Nianhua suddenly laughed. Looking at him in the mirror, she figured she was just being overly dramatic. Tonight was their wedding night, and from this day forward, their relationship would become even more intimate.
She couldn’t help but recall her birthday last year when Pei Yicheng took her to the mountain top to watch the sunrise. She only remembered that the sunset was beautiful that night, and the way Pei Yicheng bore through the excitement was incredibly handsome.
