Chapter 857: Chapter 831: Who in the End
Kiara spoke openly, feeling relieved in her heart.
How could the bond between teacher and student over two lifetimes be severed by just a few words? She knew her teacher’s character, and now that she had spoken her mind, she was certain her teacher would never force her in the future.
Just as she reached her car, Aka called out to her from behind.
“Mrs. Kiara!”
“What’s the matter?” Kiara asked.
“My boss wants to meet you.”
“Oh?” Kiara’s hand, which was about to open the car door, let go. She turned around, leisurely looking at Aka.
The mysterious man behind Aka, was he finally ready to come out?
When rescuing Jojo, Aka had already said that upon their return her boss would meet Kiara, but Kiara had not expected it to be so soon.
“Kiara Baby~” Professor Joel came over, huffing and puffing, and flashed Kiara an especially radiant smile.
This young lady was still walking fast in her high heels. He had just come out and got tied up in a conversation with another professor which delayed him, almost causing him to miss catching up to her.
“I’ve told you not to call me that,” Kiara said, her skin crawling every time he addressed her that way.

“Precious Kiara?”
“…Just get to the point if you have something to say.”
Kiara found herself feeling helpless against this shameless, thick-skinned man.
“I have a box of special throat lozenges here which should help your throat. I hear your voice is still a bit hoarse,” Professor Joel said, smiling brightly as he took out the lozenges from his pocket.
They were hand-made, so they weren’t packaged.
But don’t assume they came in a plastic bag – they were in an exquisite sandalwood carving box, inlaid with ivory and gems no less!
This subtle gesture, like the last time he brought expensive antique bottles filled with Flower Carving Wine, meant that the container was worth more than the content!
“I don’t like accepting things from strangers,” Kiara said, without reaching for the box, just looking at him coolly.
She didn’t know if it was her imagination, but she always felt that this guy was a bit too attentive towards her.
“You said yourself that if I came in person, you would take your medicine properly. Now that I’m here, be good – you still need to take your medicine. It’s not good to have lingering issues,” he said.
Aka nodded in agreement. Indeed, the boss was right.
Kiara, who initially appeared uninterested, suddenly got the main point of Professor Joel’s words; if he came, she had to accept his gift and take the medicine – could it be?!
She remembered that previously, when Aka brought Kiara something and Kiara refused it, she told Aka to have her boss come over in person if he wanted her to accept the gift.
Does Jason Joel mean to say that he is –
“He is my boss,” Aka’s explanation seemed to freeze the world for a few seconds.
In the scorching sun, amidst the hustle and bustle of traffic, only the three of them stood like statues, as if even their breath was stilled.
“So, you are the one who arranged for Aka to follow me?” Kiara squeezed the words through clenched teeth.
“Yes.”
“You had her protect me all the time?”
“Yes.”
“Her eavesdropping on our home with listening devices, was that your instigation?”
“…that’s her own wicked hobby. Actually, she eavesdrops not just on you; she does the same when I have a girlfriend,” Professor Joel said, also exasperated by Aka’s wicked hobby.
“So, what exactly is your purpose in doing this? Don’t tell me you vet a student more strictly than a political review,” Kiara’s voice sounded gentle but if Camden was here, he would definitely retreat a few steps silently.
Only Camden could hear the hint of gunpowder in Kiara’s tone. Although Yuzo Joel had conducted an in-depth analysis of Kiara’s personality, he still was unfamiliar with some of her little habits. Seeing her so gentle, he continued to blabber away obliviously.
“I can’t tell you my purpose right now, but I have no ill intentions towards you. I believe time will prove everything. How does that ancient poem go… ‘A heart of ice within a jade pot.'”
“Oh… a jade pot,” Kiara said coldly.
“Uh-huh!” Blissfully unaware, Jason Joel nodded stupidly.
“Good, very good.”
After Kiara spoke, she suddenly stepped forward and gave Yuzo Joel’s face two swift slaps!
The slaps were crisp and loud.
“Don’t let me see you again, meow da mental case!” After speaking, Kiara flipped Yuzo Joel the middle finger, a gesture totally out of keeping with her status, yet paired with an exceptionally gentle voice.
“If I catch you snooping on me and my husband again, I’ll beat you up!”
Having said that, she got into the car with flair.
Against someone who spied on her and played her for a fool, she felt no need for restraint; beating him was the right choice!
Not until Kiara’s red car left behind a choking exhaust did Aka snap out of her stunned state.
“Boss?” she swallowed nervously.
Was what just happened not an illusion?
Mrs. Kiara had not only slapped the Boss twice but also flipped him the bird?
“Haha, how cute.” Yuzo Joel shook his head at Kiara’s car, marveling at her feisty temper.
“She’s just like that. I’m mainly to blame for not making things clear. Mrs. Kiara really doesn’t like others prying into her privacy,” Aka explained carefully, wary of the Boss’s reaction.
She feared the Boss might blame Mrs. Kiara, recalling the fate of the last person who crossed the Boss—the Principal who tried to unleash a madman on Mrs. Kiara.
He’s now suffering a mental breakdown, living in the psychiatric hospital for treatment.
The Boss is always smiling, but no one knows if his smiles are genuine or fake. So, after seeing Mrs. Kiara scold and beat the Boss, Aka’s first instinct was to run out and take the blame.
“It’s your fault!” the Boss glared at Aka, “I’m docking half a month’s pay! I told you to protect her closely, did I ever tell you to eavesdrop on her?”
“I just happened to… Who knew she would get so angry…”
“How does Camden Yuno treat her?”
“Very well.” Wait, why did the topic shift here?
Aka turned into small beady eyes.
“Boss?!”
Hadn’t the Boss just righteously criticized her for not eavesdropping on a married couple’s private conversations? Why suddenly indulge in gossip?
“Do you want to keep getting your pay docked? Since you listened, you should report something useful! What’s the guy’s ability to get things done?”
“… I only heard the beginning, didn’t catch the details, but… it should be fairly good…”
Yuzo Joel pursed his lips, “I might invite him out someday for a sauna or something, I still need to check up on that…”
“Boss?!” Oh no! And he still has the nerve to say he’s wicked, who’s the one with wicked tastes?!?
Inside, Aka felt like she was screaming at the top of her lungs.
“Are you a parrot? Just repeating what I say? What are you looking at, let’s go, I’ll take you for a meal. And while we’re at it, let’s test if you’ve kept up with your homework. Have you mastered the core content of Sigmund Freud’s theory of psychoanalysis?”
