Rebirth: My Reclusive Husband Helps Me Get Revenge!-Chapter 48: I won’t the same mistakes
Lixue posted the food pictures with a simple caption:
"Tried out a new restaurant today. Highly recommended!"
She didn’t expect much response, but soon her WeChat lit up with comments.
Chen Qiang: Lixue! Long time no see. This looks amazing! Where is this?
Wu Meng: Wow, Yu Lixue, fancy food! You’ve been quiet for so long—what’s new?
Zhao Rui: Yu Lixue, is this really you? Feels like forever since we talked. Let’s catch up sometime!
Lixue blinked in surprise as familiar names from her university days began popping up. She had almost forgotten these old classmates were still in her WeChat. Her heart warmed as she typed simple responses to each:
To Chen Qiang: "It’s a new place nearby. You should try it if you’re in town!"
To Wu Meng: "Nothing much, just trying out new things. How have you been?"
To Zhao Rui: "It has been a while. Hope you’re doing well!"
But her fingers paused when she saw a private message from Zong Meiyua, her best friend from university who was now abroad.
Zong Meiyua: Lixue! You’re alive! This food looks incredible! Where is this? Also, why didn’t you tell me you were out exploring?
A big smile spread across Lixue’s face. She quickly replied.
"Meiyua! I didn’t know you were still checking my posts! It’s a new restaurant near home. You have to come back soon—I’ll take you there myself!"
Zong Meiyua’s response was immediate: "Of course I check your posts, dummy! I’m coming back next month. Be ready to spill everything!"
Zong Meiyua’s excitement was infectious, and Lixue couldn’t help but feel a warm bubble of happiness as their chat continued.
Zong Meiyua: "So, you better clear your schedule when I’m back! We’ve got so much to catch up on. Three years, Lixue! Can you believe it?"
Lixue: "Three years really flew by. I can’t wait to see you again. How’s everything on your end? Are you finally done with your degree?"
Zong Meiyua: "Finally! Just submitted my thesis last week. No more late-night ramen and cramming sessions—at least for now."
Lixue: "That’s amazing, Meiyua! I’m so proud of you. What’s next? Staying there or coming back for good?"
Zong Meiyua: "Coming back, for sure. I miss home too much. And I can’t survive another winter here without hotpot with you. I’ve already got a job lined up in City A, so I’ll be settling down soon."
Lixue: "That’s perfect! You’re going to be so close. When exactly are you landing? We’ll plan something as soon as you’re back."
Zong Meiyua: "Next month, on the 15th. And yes, you’re in charge of the reunion plans. I’m expecting all the details—restaurants, places to visit, everything."
Lixue: "Of course. You just focus on finishing up there and coming back safe. I’ll handle the rest."
Their conversation shifted to reminiscing about their university days—the late-night study marathons, their favorite café near campus, and the silly pranks they pulled on each other.
Zong Meiyua: "Remember that time we tried to bake cookies in the dorm microwave? Disaster doesn’t even begin to cover it."
Lixue: "Don’t remind me! I still can’t believe the fire alarm went off. But I’d do it all over again if it meant reliving those days with you."
As they wrapped up their chat, Zong Meiyua promised to send her travel itinerary and told Lixue to start planning a proper welcome. Lixue leaned back, sighing softly.
As Lixue set her phone down, her thoughts drifted to her past life. Zong Meiyua had been her one true friend back then, her unwavering support during the roughest days. Yet, she hadn’t always appreciated Meiyua as much as she should have.
In her previous life, she had been consumed by her struggles and insecurities, often retreating into herself instead of reaching out.
Meiyua had always been there, her cheerful
spirit and endless patience making her a constant source of comfort. But Lixue had taken that for granted, brushing off her friend’s efforts and allowing their bond to fray over time.
Her biggest regret was letting the friendship fade into silence when she could have fought harder to nurture it. Now, with this second chance, she vowed things would be different.
"I won’t make the same mistakes," Lixue murmured to herself, her resolve firm. "Not with Meiyua or anyone else in my life."
A sense of determination filled her as she reflected on the promise she made to herself after her rebirth: to treasure the people around her and live with intention.
The emotions swirling within her—regret, hope, determination—began to take shape as inspiration. Lixue stood up abruptly and reached for her notepad, the one she used for jotting down ideas and lyrics. Words poured into her mind like a rushing river, her emotions translating into a melody she could almost hear.
She sat by her desk, pen in hand, and began writing:
"If only I’d said what you needed to hear, 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
If only I’d stayed instead of disappeared.
Time slipped away, but now I see,
The light you shined was guiding me."
The lyrics flowed effortlessly, each line a reflection of her regret and her promise to change. She wrote of second chances, of holding on to the people who mattered, and of mending what was broken.
By the time she finished, the page was filled with verses that felt like a letter to Meiyua and everyone else she had failed to appreciate before.
Lixue leaned back, staring at her words with a small smile. Music had always been her way of processing emotions, and now it was becoming her way of expressing gratitude and love.
Her heart felt lighter as she placed the notepad aside. This wasn’t just about writing a song, it was about taking a step forward.
Tomorrow, she would reach out to more people she cared about. And when Meiyua returned, she would make sure her best friend knew just how much she valued her.
Not realizing those that really cared for her in her past life was her biggest mistake, she had lived with grief when there were people on the sidelines willing to help her.
