Chapter 326: Chapter 326 Wood Element Zombie

As the sky wasn’t completely dark yet, the group split up and set off on their tasks.

Lu Hao, with Lin Xiuyuan and Lin Cheng in tow, went into the farm to take care of the six zombies, while the rest of the people started searching the two-story farmhouse for seeds.

Although the two-story building was not tall, it occupied a substantial area. Surveying its simple interior and the empty expanse, Su Jin had already mentally prepared herself to find nothing.

The first floor had several rooms that resembled workshops, with one large room even housing a production line, its conveyer belt still holding some moldy medicinal herbs. Nearby were several large containers, apparently where workers used to clean freshly picked herbs.

Beyond the basic production line, the first floor was filled with various machines for processing herbs. As this was not a large factory, the machines were relatively modest in size.

...

Although unsure if they would be of any use, Su Jin still gathered them up and placed them in a vacant area within her Space, deciding that if they turned out to be useless, she could always throw them at zombies.

“It looks like it’s all machinery here,”

Huang Yunxiang said after inspecting several rooms.

“Let’s go upstairs and have a look,”

Lu Guanhai had a strong feeling that they would find something good on the second floor.

There were no zombies upstairs, probably because it had been months since anyone had been up there. Dust had accumulated on the stairway.

The rooms upstairs corresponded to those below; the sight of bright red wooden doors secured with padlocks brought smiles to everyone’s faces. If the doors were locked, there surely must be something stored inside.

Mao Zhihang used his Metal Element Ability to unlock the doors of all five rooms.

Su Jin and the others were somewhat excited, feeling like they were opening mystery boxes, curious about what might be locked inside and if it would include anything they desired.

They entered the first room, and as a heavy fragrance of herbs wafted towards them, they indeed found shelves neatly stocked with traditional Chinese medicinal materials. These were packed in transparent bags and some in paper packages, each one labeled with the name of the herb and the production date.

“This is great, our trip wasn’t in vain!”

Huang Yunxiang exclaimed with joy.

Su Jin nodded and waved her hand, collecting all the medicinal materials and their shelves into her Space’s pharmacy area.

At this moment, Lu Guanhai’s excited voice came from the corridor, “Xiao Jin! Come quickly, there are lots of seeds here!”

Seeds?

Could there really be seeds?

Those inside the room looked at each other with surprise and quickly headed toward where Lu Guanhai was.

Having visited farms and ranches several times in his youth, Lu Guanhai knew that many farmers liked to store their produce on the second floor, as the first floor was prone to dampness, lacked ventilation, and was susceptible to pests and rodents. Hence, upon searching the ground floor, he had felt certain they would find something valuable upstairs.

The room where seeds were stored was very clean.

Some temperature-monitoring devices still hung on the wall inside the door, and the seeds they were searching for were sorted in various grey storage boxes within the room.

There were many storage boxes; although made of plastic, they seemed to have good sealing. They were also opaque, which would greatly extend the shelf life of the seeds.

Moreover, Su Jin noticed that the room was equipped with an air conditioner, likely intended to keep temperatures down during summer.

“It’s fantastic, Xiao Jin, there’s such a diversity of seeds here,” Lin Tianzhen said while looking around.

Su Jin nodded. The room was large and had a vast array of seed varieties. She didn’t know if there were thousands, but there certainly were hundreds.

“Pinellia, clove, Sioux leaf, crape myrtle, inulae vulgaris, phyllostachys edulis, atractylodes… Sister Xiao Jin, these herbal names all sound so nice,”

Mao Qiqi walked and recited, while Nie Qing looked admiringly at Mao Qiqi. He knew the names of these herbs, but could only barely recognize a few simple characters; this was the result of his studies while catching up on dramas.

However, he wouldn’t admit that he didn’t recognize the characters and pretended to look as well.

“Yes, I think they sound nice too,”

Su Jin said with a smile. She became more and more convinced that the millennia-old Huaxia civilization was truly remarkable. Although she didn’t know what these herbal medicines were for, they would be much more useful in the apocalypse than those nearly non-renewable Western medicines.

For convenience, she collected the seeds along with the boxes directly into the yard of her space.

The temperature in the space was constant and it also had a preservation function, so there was no worry about seed deterioration. Besides, tonight she could also discuss with her family which herbs to plant.

In the remaining rooms on the second floor, some other herbs, as well as herb charts and books, were placed, and Su Jin naturally collected them all into the Wood Spirit Space.

Those charts and books might be useful in the future.

“How come Xiao Hao and the others haven’t come back yet?”

Lu Guanhai muttered as he looked at the sky, which was about to darken.

“Brother-in-law and the others have already killed five zombies, and there is one more zombie beside them,”

Mao Qiqi reported, sensing her small map.

Another zombie?

Could it be that they have encountered a high-level mutated zombie?

However, when several people reached the location where Lu Hao and his group were, they understood why they hadn’t killed that one zombie.

In a dilapidated plastic greenhouse, lush herbs were growing nicely, and a grayish white mutated zombie with no hair left was sitting on a broken vermilion chair, its legs frozen, evidently by Lin Xiuyuan’s special ability.

When so many people like Su Jin walked in, the zombie only turned its grayish eyeballs in their direction and tilted its head, then did no more.

Its upper body wasn’t trapped, but it didn’t seem to have any intention to attack.

“It’s a wood element zombie, but it hasn’t attacked us,”

Lu Hao pointed out to the newly arrived group, indicating the zombie sitting quietly on the bench.

“Yeah, Su Jin, and when we arrived, it was even using its wood element ability to stimulate the growth of the plants here,”

Lin Xiuyuan expressed, looking as if he had found a new continent.

It turned out that the reason the three of them hadn’t returned was due to a disagreement on how to deal with this wood element mutated zombie. Lin Cheng thought that since it didn’t attack people and had made the herbs in the greenhouse grow so robust, it would be a pity to kill it.

The space in the greenhouse was very large, and on their way here, they also noticed that the fields next to the greenhouse had plants growing well. Could it all be the work of this zombie?

“That’s so amazing? It really doesn’t attack people?”

Lu Guanhai curiously walked forward, and the zombie remained motionless, sitting quietly without any reaction.
