Rebirth in the 90s: Melting My Devoted Mr. Iceberg-Chapter 918: Ruined Reputation
"Has Jiang Xue tarnished our class’s reputation? You’re referring to Jiang Xue?" The homeroom teacher frowned, since Jiang Xue was a student recommended from Xu City.
She has only attended one day of class and I haven’t heard of any wrongdoing by her. How can she ruin the class’s reputation? Besides, she doesn’t seem like that kind of person.
"Yes, it’s her. Many people outside are saying Jiang Xue is someone’s mistress, isn’t that exactly what would tarnish our class’s name?"
Upon hearing this, the homeroom teacher’s face turned grim and he asked Liu Meimei, "Do you believe everything people say? Did you ask Jiang Xue? Did you investigate?"
"We..." Liu Meimei was at a loss for words, turning to look at other classmates, hoping someone would stand with her. To her dismay, the girls not only did not support her but deliberately distanced themselves.
Rather, seeing her like this, Qian Wei felt sympathy and said, "Teacher, there’s no smoke without fire. If Jiang Xue didn’t do anything, why would such rumors spread?"
"Moreover, many classmates saw her get into a luxury car after school yesterday and arrived in another luxury car today. I’ve heard she comes from Xucheng Town, so how could she know people with luxury cars?"
Yesterday, Qian Wei had deliberately inquired about Jiang Xue’s background, discovering she’s from the countryside, and was just about to talk to Liu Yiming.
Unexpectedly, this situation arose today.
"Is that all?" The homeroom teacher turned to glare fiercely at Qian Wei, then addressed Jiang Xue: "Jiang Xue, tell them who picked you up yesterday and who brought you today."
"My husband and my cousin," Jiang Xue replied calmly. Originally, she didn’t want to explain, but since the homeroom teacher asked, she had to tell everyone.
Luckily, when she enrolled, she mentioned her situation to the homeroom teacher. She told the teacher she was married and had a child, so she couldn’t live on campus.
Thankfully she informed the homeroom teacher beforehand, otherwise, she might really have been wrongly accused.
Still, after Jiang Xue spoke, the entire class stared wide-eyed, looking incredulous. As Jiang Xue appeared to be at most twenty years old, and just like them, she was a freshman, how could she be married?
"Now you understand?" The homeroom teacher said irritably to the classmates, "Classmates should support each other, not suspect and attack each other because of rumors. You should spend that time reading books and learning more."
"Alright, it’s almost time for class. Everyone, return to your seats." After speaking, the homeroom teacher looked at Jiang Xue and said, "Jiang Xue, the classmates have misunderstood you because you just arrived, please don’t take it to heart."
"Don’t worry, teacher, I won’t take it to heart." Jiang Xue smiled and shook her head. Seeing her calm demeanor, the homeroom teacher felt relieved and left.
Once the teacher left, Liu Yiming returned to Jiang Xue’s side, looking as if he wanted to say something but hesitated.
"Speak up if you have something to say, otherwise get lost, don’t waste my time reading," Jiang Xue said moodily, growing increasingly annoyed with Liu Yiming.
Being the class monitor, he simply followed rumors, truly disappointing her.
Liu Yiming initially wanted to apologize to Jiang Xue, but after hearing her words, his face flushed, struggling to utter an apology.
He stood awkwardly in front of Jiang Xue until someone mentioned the teacher was coming, finally giving him relief from the situation.
