Chapter 71: Chapter 71: Setup

Seeing Jiang Ran returning with paintbrushes and dyes, Pei Yang and Pei Shanshan were quite puzzled.

They both put down their books and came over.

"Sister-in-law, what are you going to do with these?" Shanshan fully embraced the spirit of asking when unsure.

Jiang Ran smiled, "Painting!"

The wooden board had already been sanded twice, making its surface relatively smooth.

After wiping it clean and letting it dry, Jiang Ran began painting on it.

Jiang Ran didn’t paint landscapes or portraits; everything was related to food.

White, plump, steaming buns; colorful eight-treasure porridge; crispy fried dough sticks; round sugar cakes.

Each food item was painted by Jiang Ran onto the wooden board.

Besides these, Jiang Ran also painted some medicines.

Shanshan didn’t recognize these herbs but felt they looked quite nice.

"Sister-in-law, when did you learn to paint?"

They had known each other since childhood, and over the years, Shanshan had never seen Jiang Ran paint. She hadn’t expected Jiang Ran to be so skilled.

Faced with Shanshan’s question, Jiang Ran paused for a moment.

But quickly, Jiang Ran returned to normal, "I’ve never learned. I just paint what I picture in my heart. It must be talent!"

If others heard this, they’d definitely say Jiang Ran was bragging.

But neither Shanshan nor Pei Yang felt this way.

After hearing Jiang Ran’s answer, they both nodded seriously, fully agreeing with her.

Exactly!

It must be talent!

Jiang Ran could remember everything she read, so what’s wrong with her being good at painting?

Jiang Ran initially spoke casually, watching Shanshan and Pei Yang’s expressions afterward, planning her next move if they didn’t believe her.

However, Jiang Ran hadn’t expected that they completely believed her.

They believed her so thoroughly!

Seeing their expressions, Jiang Ran almost believed what she said was true.

Of course, she’d learned to paint before, but it was before she transmigrated into the book.

But that didn’t matter; as long as Shanshan and Pei Yang believed her, it was fine.

Two days flew by, and no one at home spent those days idly.

Jiang Ran used the old wheat straw from home, glued it onto the wooden board, and created art with it.

Wrapped in fine threads, the wheat straw was made into a wide mat, nailed onto the wall along the floor.

It served as a decoration and prevented the wall from getting dirty.

The top half of the wall was filled with Jiang Ran’s artwork, hung in a staggered arrangement.

The ceiling now had several high-watt incandescent lamps installed.

Once turned on, the room would be bright and enlightening.

Jiang Ran even reserved two spots between the lamps and left the lines for them.

This was the reserved space for fans.

If the business thrived come summer, Jiang Ran would install fans.

With the windows and benches in place, the little shop was nearly set up.

Now, the only things left were some items for the kitchen.

Standing at the doorway and looking inside, Jiang Ran felt a deep sense of accomplishment.

When she first transmigrated, she worried she might end up miserable on the street.

But now, just over two months later, she owned her first small shop.

So, you see, how life turns out isn’t fixed; it’s all about how one manages it.

Just as Jiang Ran was thinking this, she heard Shanshan’s excited voice behind her, "Sister-in-law, the sign we ordered is here!"

Upon hearing this, Jiang Ran immediately turned around and indeed saw a car parked at the entrance, loaded with quite a few items.
