Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space-Chapter 445 Divorce
"Hmm, Iβll wait for you." Qiao Jingyi felt like she could barely move.
Yao Shimin entered his office, surprising Secretary Pan, "Vice Factory Director Yao?" ππ«ππ²ππππ§π πππ₯.πππ
"Hmm, you continue with your work. Iβm just making a call."
Yao Shimin found Hao Shichaoβs number, "Secretary Hao, could you help me? Can all the furniture be completed before National Day? Iβve set my wedding for that day."
"Vice Factory Director Yao, thatβs really urgent."
"Please, help me out."
"Alright, Iβll arrange it right away."
Being a man, there must be unspeakable reasons for such urgency.
After hanging up the phone, Yao Shimin went to Qian Junβs office.
"Mr. Qian, Iβll need the car this afternoon; at the latest, Iβll be back tomorrow afternoon."
"Sure, Vice Factory Director Jiang brought it back today."
"Alright, Iβm off then."
"In such a hurry?"
"Hmm, Iβm going to the city today to get the letter with Jingyi."
Qian Jun watched Yao Shimin hurriedly leave, feeling a bit envious. He thought he should start a family too; itβs not feasible to always be single when everyone around is settling down.
Yao Shimin drove back, bringing two pancakes for Qiao Jingyi, along with a box of scrambled eggs and a serving of millet porridge.
Seeing Qiao Jingyi still asleep, he really wanted to just lie down beside her, but that wouldnβt do; the most important things needed to be done.
"Honey, wake up, time for breakfast."
Seeing her open her eyes and look at him with a dazed expression, he really wanted to embrace her.
"Youβre back?"
"Yeah, weβll drive back and then we can go to school to get the letter today."
"Alright, get me some water, Iβll wash up first."
By the time they finished eating, it was already after ten. They tidied up quickly and drove back to the city.
"Itβs late; should we head home first?"
"Jingyi, letβs go to the school first. I wonβt feel assured until we get the letter."
Qiao Jingyi was amused by his expression. "Alright, letβs go to the school."
They found the principal. As Qiao Jingyi was a girl, she stammered while explaining their visit.
"Congratulations, Xiao Qiao, no problem. Iβll head back to the office to get you the letter right away."
"Thank you, Principal."
"No need to be formal. Itβs normal for a man to get married and a woman to marry."
Yao Shimin took the letter from the principal, smiling and thanking him.
"Comrade, you must treat our Xiao Qiao well in the future. Sheβs a good girl."
"Principal, donβt worry. Iβll definitely treat her well."
"Principal, I wonβt be coming to class this afternoon."
"Hmm, itβs a special day. Iβll give you the day off." The principal was understanding and, fortunately, there were no classes scheduled for Xiao Qiao either.
Yao Shimin was thrilled, eager to head to the civil affairs bureau immediately. However, it was a rest time there, too.
"Sweetheart, letβs go eat."
"Iβm not hungry, letβs go home."
"Alright, letβs head home. Are your parents home?"
"They both eat lunch at the cafeteria. Letβs go, if youβre hungry, Iβll cook you noodles."
"Sure, you should eat something too."
"Hmm, letβs go home."
When they got home, "Go lie in my room while I make you noodles."
"Iβll stay with you."
"No need, it wonβt take long."
Even though Qiao Jingyi said that, Yao Shimin still followed her.
Each of them had a bowl of noodles. After finishing, Yao Shimin cleaned up the kitchen before returning to the room. Not seeing his wife, he strolled around the courtyard. Hearing the sound of water, he wanted to go in, but the door was locked from the inside, so he had no choice but to wait outside.
When Qiao Jingyi came out and saw Yao Shimin outside, she said, "You should wash up too."
"Alright, you go back inside. Itβs too hot out here."
Yao Shimin moved quickly and returned to the room fifteen minutes later. Seeing his wife already lying on the kang, he snuggled up to her promptly.
"Behave yourself."
"I know, we still need to go to the civil affairs bureau this afternoon."
"Letβs ask my mom at her workplace to clarify. I remember my mom saying before that her colleagueβs daughter got married but was stressed out because they missed getting the certificate first thing in the morning."
"Is that really necessary?"
"Weβll ask my mom later. If not, weβll go early tomorrow morning."
Even though Yao Shimin didnβt go all the way, he still held Qiao Jingyi tightly. Kissing and cuddling made him restless too.
At one oβclock, they drove to Mrs. Qiaoβs workplace.
"Why are you two here?"
"Mom, we got the introduction letter ready and want to get the certificate this afternoon."
"The certificate?"
"Hmm."
"Thereβs no certificate issuing in the afternoon, is there?" Mrs. Qiaoβs keen eyes scanned her daughter, noticing something different but reassuring herself that the two were already engaged. And since the boy was eager to get the certificate, so be it.
"You two should go home, and go early tomorrow morning to get the certificate."
"Alright, weβll listen to Mom, then weβll head back."
"Go ahead." As they left, Mrs. Qiao gave her daughter a glare. Silly girl, how could you let him get away so easily? Really such a silly girl.
"Itβs all your fault; my mom just glared at me."
"Yes, yes, itβs all my fault. Letβs go; weβll head home and you can continue sleeping."
In the afternoon, the two stayed cozy at home, but they prepared dinner before the family returned.
After dinner, "Shimin, stay over tonight and sleep in your older brotherβs room. Donβt delay the plan."
"Okay."
At this point, agreeing to anything they said was the best.
"Mom and Dad, I was thinking of setting our wedding date on National Day."
Mr. Qiao frowned, thinking it over, "Alright, you two figure it out. We canβt have a big ceremony now. The date doesnβt really matter, luckily we havenβt informed your aunts and uncles yet."
Mrs. Qiao nodded as well; she guessed her daughter must have slept with him already. At this point, they should marry early to avoid embarrassment if they have a baby sooner than expected.
"Iβll bring you your household registers in a moment."
The old couple lay on the kang without speaking, both guessing what had happened, but unsure of how to address it, yet agreeing sooner was better.
At four in the morning, Mrs. Qiao woke them up and made each a bowl of noodles before letting them drive to wait at the door of the civil affairs bureau.
When they arrived, there was still no one around. Yao Shimin wanted to wait outside, but the mosquitoes were too many, so they stayed in the car.
By five thirty, seeing people biking over in the distance, they hurriedly got out of the car and stood first in line at the door.
The two young people who arrived were unhappy not to be the first, but seeing the couple had come in a car, they knew not to mess with them, so they stood grumpily behind them.
Qiao Jingyi suppressed her laughter, finding the situation quite amusing.
