Chapter 571: Chapter 571: Don’t Come Back If You Dare

"Why waste time on that? If you don’t want to answer the phone in the future, just reject it." Mason Wilson said to Clarissa Taylor, his words leaving Clarissa wide-eyed in surprise, and after a brief shock, she was filled with emotion.

Sophie Wilson, on the other hand, was quite happy and shook Clarissa’s arm with a smile: "Mom, you were right, communication is key in a marriage."

Clarissa was rendered speechless by Sophie’s cheeky comment—was this what she meant by communication?

"Mom and Dad, let’s have dinner here tonight. I’ve asked the chef to prepare it." Sophie said with a smile, "Charles should be back soon."

"Charles isn’t home yet?" Mason asked in surprise.

He remembered that when he left the company, Charles seemed to have already left.

"Yeah, he went to get me... Wow, he’s back!" Sophie half-spoke before she suddenly jumped up in surprise and rushed to the door.

Mason turned his head and saw Charles Seymour in a suit, holding a... colorful cotton candy in his hand.

Mason rubbed his forehead vigorously, sure enough, in front of his daughter, Charles is like a parent coddling a child, the indulgent kind.

"Is this the one?" Charles said with a smile, raising the cotton candy in front of Sophie.

"Yes, yes." Sophie nodded repeatedly, happily taking it.

With a doting smile, Charles patted Sophie’s head, then greeted Mason and Clarissa: "Uncle, Aunt, I’ll go upstairs to change first."

"Alright." Clarissa replied with a smile. She was extremely happy, especially knowing her daughter was being so pampered—it comforted her as a mother, making her happier than leading a good life herself. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

The three of them sat in the dining room, Sophie holding the cotton candy. As soon as Charles joined them, she tore off a piece to stuff into his mouth, eagerly asking, "Is it sweet?"

Mason thought his daughter was too silly for words.

Cotton candy, made of sugar, how could it not be sweet?

Clarissa noticed Mason’s strange expression, reached under the table, and gave him a hard pinch.

Mason almost cried out in pain, then looked at his wife in confusion, wondering why she pinched him.

Little did he expect Clarissa to just give him a dismissive glance without even a hint of explanation, leaving Mason feeling utterly wronged.

What did he even do?

Clarissa was inwardly annoyed, seriously, what was that reaction?

Doesn’t he see how good Sophie and Charles’s relationship is?

"Sweet." Charles said with a smile.

"Then I’ll have some." Sophie said happily.

Good things should be shared with him.

Sophie’s childish reaction made Charles’s hand itch, and he couldn’t resist patting her head again before sitting down to eat.

The atmosphere at the dinner table was great, a family enjoying their time together.

Unfortunately, this wonderful atmosphere was disrupted after the meal by a call from Old Mrs. Wilson.

"Dad..." Mason only managed to get out one word before falling silent.

It was clear that Old Mrs. Wilson was talking non-stop on the other end, giving Mason no chance to speak.

Seeing Mason’s expression turn uglier, Sophie stepped forward, grabbed the phone, and put it on speaker: "...If you have the guts, don’t come back next time!"
