Rebirth: Clinging to My Possessive Magnate-Chapter 555: Much Stronger
After leaving the restaurant, Sophie Wilson got into the car with Charles Seymour, naturally snuggling into his arms.
Charles confidently wrapped his arms around his fiancée. Well, they were engaged, she was already his, with his label on her.
"James Reed sure has a way," Sophie scoffed, "He managed to convince Ophelia Wilson so easily."
Even a fool could see that today’s encounter with Ophelia was not accidental. She must have been tipped off about her whereabouts and came looking for her.
It was just because James and his team failed to persuade her Mr. Seymour and hit a wall with Old Mr. Seymour that they sent Ophelia to take a more roundabout approach.
"Hmm," Charles replied, watching as Sophie nestled in his arms, idly fiddling with the buttons of his coat with her delicate fingers, one by one.
Though she was merely playing with the buttons, he felt his throat go dry, his mouth parched.
Sophie was unaware of Charles’ discomfort, cheerfully saying, "They sure know how to stir things up. Now that they see you’re useful, they want to bring you back, probably to discard you once they’re done."
As for the character of Ethan Seymour and James Reed... Hmm, do they even have something like character?
Sophie shook her head; she had truly overestimated them.
"Don’t bother with them," Charles remarked casually, though his thoughts wandered. It had been some time since the last occasion. Perhaps tonight, he could ask Sophie for some "assistance" again?
Her hand should be fine by now, not sore anymore, right?
Sophie had no clue that someone had already set their mind on her, still pondering over the matters of James and his team.
As for Ophelia, after quickly calming her emotions, she went home and carefully edited some recordings from her recorder, extracting useful ones, then sent them to James Reed’s email.
After sending, Ophelia called James Reed, "James, my talk with Sophie Wilson fell through."
"No worries," James’s amused voice came through the phone, "I already figured they wouldn’t be easy to deal with. This was really a tough task for you."
"Not at all." James’s thoughtfulness warmed Ophelia’s heart. Why should she envy Sophie? James treated her well too.
Despite messing up something he valued greatly, James wasn’t angry and was even comforting her.
What a great fiancé.
Much better than that idiot Charles, who doesn’t know how to manage a thing.
Ophelia felt sweet inside, unaware that on the other end, James’s expression was in stark contrast to his gentle voice, dark and clouded. The tender, caring gaze she imagined didn’t actually exist.
At that moment, James’s eyes were filled with disdain and resentment.
What a fool; she can’t even handle something so trivial. What else is she good for?
Just as James was about to lose his temper, Ophelia’s gentle voice came through the receiver again, "However, James, I recorded some interesting stuff, I’ve sent it to your email. You might want to let Grandpa and Uncle listen. Maybe then they won’t favor Charles Seymour anymore."
"Oh?" James’s mood lifted slightly upon hearing there was more to it, finally easing his grim expression a bit.
