Chapter 81: Chapter 81: Boss.. Miss Veyne isn’t at Rye..

Harris turned around in annoyance when he heard Ziva call him again.

He was already groaning in his mind. Because of course, at a time like this, when everything was already threatening to fall apart, someone had to delay him with a conversation.

And not just anyone but this particular girl who looked like she was still deciding whether to talk or just stare at him forever like a statue placed in the wrong location.

He watched her for a moment and wondered if she had suddenly forgotten how to speak. And honestly if she had, he might just leave her there and go deal with the actual problem before his boss decided to turn him into a tragic story.

Ziva kept staring at him like she was arranging her thoughts one by one.

Harris sighed tiredly, already losing the little patience he had left.

He made up his mind. If she did not speak in the next three seconds, he was going to walk away and pretend he never saw her.

Just when he was about to give up on her, she finally spoke and asked, "Are you sent here by Mr Vale?"

Harris blinked at her for a second, then shook his head in pity. Because what other reason could he possibly have for being here if not that.

After a moment, he simply nodded and said, "Yes," deciding not to waste too many words on something so obvious.

Ziva nodded too, as if that confirmed something important in her mind. Then she lifted her chin a little and said, "You know I’m her assistant, right? So I have the right to know what’s going on with her."

Harris stared at her again, then gave a small nod. Because truth be told. If one looked at it from certain angles, she wasn’t entirely wrong.

"Alright," he said.

"Good. At least you have sense. " Ziva replied quickly in relief.

Harris nearly scoffed at those words.

Of course, why won’t he?

Then finally, he opened his mouth.

"You see the problem is that the car Rye sent is still at Voice, but Miss Veyne already left Voice in another car that claimed to be from Rye."

The moment the words left his mouth, Ziva’s expression changed instantly. She stepped closer to him in clear panic. "What do you mean?" she asked quickly.

Then suddenly, like a thought had struck her. She grabbed her phone and opened the message again, holding it out for him to see. "Look at this."

Harris leaned closer to see the screen. His eyes scanned the message that read,

"I already left for the venue with the company car. Just meet me there."

"You mean she sent this to you?" he asked, glancing at her face.

Ziva didn’t answer. Instead, she kept staring at the message.

"Something is wrong," she said under her breath.

"What do you mean?" Harris asked with a frown.

"This... this isn’t how she talks. Elara doesn’t send messages like this. It’s too... full." She paused, "She would never write it like this. She would just say something simple like ’I left already, meet me there.’ That’s it."

Harris thought about what she said. The more he did, the more it started to make sense.

Ziva looked up at him again, and now the fear in her eyes was clear. "What do you think?" she asked.

Harris let out a slow breath and stared ahead, his thoughts finally settling into one clear conclusion.

"Something is definitely wrong," he muttered. Then he turned and started moving toward the side door again without wasting another second.

"Come with me."

Adrian kept his eyes on the road ahead as he drove, his gaze fixed through the windshield at the city lights that stretched into long lines before him.

His fingers tapped slowly against the steering wheel. His face was cold and his lips pressed into a thin line as he sped along the highway.

He overtook another car smoothly, barely sparing it a glance.

Just then his phone started ringing. He reached out his hand and picked it up from the seat at his side without hesitation when he saw the name on the screen.

Harris’ voice came through quickly, a little tense as he said,

"Boss, Miss Veyne isn’t at Rye. The concert starts in twenty minutes, and she still hasn’t arrived." He paused for a second before adding, "If the car that picked her up had the same details as the one Rye sent, then someone inside might know about this mix-up."

Adrian stayed silent for a brief moment, his eyes still on the road as his mind moved faster than the car itself. Then he spoke in a low voice, "Check the surveillance cameras at Voice and the traffic cameras around it. Pull everything from the last two hours."

"Yes, boss," Harris replied at once.

Adrian tightened his grip on the steering wheel slightly before speaking again. His tone turning colder, "And Relanie..."

There was a short pause on the other end before Harris spoke up in a confused tone, "Uh... boss?"

"Where is she tonight?" Adrian asked calmly.

Harris went quiet for a few seconds, then answered quickly, "I’ll check... I’ll check right away."

Adrian ended the call and drew in a slow breath.

But to his surprise, his heart was beating harder than usual, loud and steady in his chest. And for a moment his lips turned downward into a slight frown. As if he didn’t quite understand it.

A low scoff left his lips as his eyes darkened, a thought crossing his mind that he didn’t bother to push away.

His phone rang again, and he picked it up immediately.

"Boss," Harris voice came again, "Miss Relanie isn’t at Voice. She’s at her house in the downtown area."

The call ended just as quickly, and Adrian’s eyes sharpened. Without a word, he pressed harder on the accelerator. The engine responded with a low growl as the car surged forward, cutting through the road in a flash..
