Chapter 202: Spoiled Princess

"Come on! Alex, I’m not a weak woman, alright! You know me."

That was the expression Aurora often said after she and Alex found out she was pregnant.

Alex appears to treat her like fragile china. He created numerous rules for her.

Initially, she enjoyed being pampered, but as time passed, her worry grew.

She feared that she would become incapable of doing anything herself since those around her were doing everything for her.

It felt as though she was becoming a spoiled princess.

Just like this morning when they had breakfast, she felt like throwing up everything she had eaten, which made Alex instantly decide she couldn’t go to the office and ask her to stay home. She truly hates this morning sickness!

As they stroll over to the backyard garden, Aurora expresses her desire to head to the office since she has an important task waiting for her there.

"Alex, I assure you I’m perfectly okay," she attempts to persuade him, flashing her brightest smile. "I have a heightened sensitivity to smells, so when I encounter strong food aromas, I quickly feel nauseous. But, I’m not unwell!"

Alex continued to refuse to let her visit the office. Despite her best efforts, she couldn’t seem to change his mind.

Ultimately, she decided to embrace the moment and enjoy her holiday today.

However, she was taken aback when she heard him call his mother, asking her to come over to their house.

This is the fourth day since they discovered she was pregnant, and nobody in the family knows about it.

They wanted to surprise everyone by announcing the good news on Alex’s birthday in June. However, it seems that Alex has given up on the idea.

After Alex ended the phone call, she faced him, narrowing her eyes.

"Alex, are you going to tell your mom about this?" she asked with a hint of protest apparent in her tone.

Alex placed the phone in his pocket before responding to her.

"What do you think?" he asked, playfully smiling and tucking her hair behind her ear.

Aurora gave a light shrug.

Alex chuckled when he saw her pouting and gently placed his hand under her chin to make her look at him.

"Why are you mad at me?"

"I don’t want to talk to you anymore!" she sulked. "You respond to my question with another one. I’m so exhausted..." she said while knitting, continuing her stroll towards the stone house.

They do this almost every morning, walking to the back garden and ending at the stone house to visit her father. However, when they arrived, her father appeared to be absent.

’Huh!? Where is my Dad? Why didn’t he wait for us in his garden?’ Aurora wondered as she knocked on the door, but received no response.

"Did he go somewhere?" Aurora asked, glancing over at Alex, sitting comfortably in a garden chair, soaking up the warm morning sun and looking perfectly relaxed.

"Perhaps he is in the staff dorm..."

Aurora quietly made her way over and took a seat beside him.

"I forgot that he’s active there now. He visits them every day. But, this is the first time he might have breakfast there?"

Alex nodded and played with her beautifully smooth hair before responding.

"That’s great, right? He needs more activity and to meet other staff so he won’t be lonely..."

"Yeah. I agree. He has worked diligently almost his entire life since he was young. Never stopped. So, when he had to stop, it must have stressed him..." Aurora reflected, considering her father’s struggles.

"Hmm. I guess so."

After enjoying the spring breeze under the sun, Aurora suddenly remembered something she had heard from her father.

"I heard your dad is offering for him to return to the Graystone family?"

Alex let out a long, deep sigh.

"Yes. But he refused. And I agree with your father. Why does he need to return there?"

Aurora remains silent, offering him a bitter smile.

"When I discovered it, I felt angry with my father," Alex said.

"Don’t be mad at your Dad, Alex. I believe your father is just showing kindness to my Dad."

"I know. Still, I don’t like my Dad offering that to him without asking my opinion about it first." Alex sighed.

Alex feels happy that Thomas Moon is staying with them. However, he can’t help but worry that Thomas will choose to move out one day. Just thinking about this stresses him, as he fears his wife could be sad if that happened.

"Alex, do you want to tell him about my pregnancy?"

"Hmm, that’s my plan. He needs something to give him a reason to live longer with us. You know he wanted to see our child. He always brings up the conversation every time we meet. And the sooner we tell him, the better."

Aurora remained silent, gazing at the trees in the distance. Once again, she felt a swirl of emotions upon hearing about her father’s desire to teach the young master of Graystone.

’Dad! I hope you know the truth. Our child was actually your grandson!’ Aurora wondered while smiling bitterly.

"Alex, I hope he has a long life to stay with us." This is one of her biggest wishes.

"Of course. He’s still young, he’s not even sixty yet..."

"Yeah!"

...

Thomas arrived unexpectedly as Aurora, and Alex prepared to leave the stone house. He was surprised to find them visiting him there.

"Alex, Rory, I thought you both left for the office. That’s why I went to the staff cafeteria to meet others while having breakfast," Thomas said as he joined them in the garden.

"Uncle Moon, Rory feels unwell, so we didn’t rush to the office," Alex replied.

Thomas was surprised. He gazed at Aurora with concern. "You should take care of yourself, Rory. Don’t work too much and exhaust yourself," he gently reminded her.

"Thank you, Uncle Moon, I’m doing well! I only have a bit of morning sickness, and Alex is the one who has to worry about that," Aurora replied casually. However, her voice carried a tone of protest toward Alex.

After a thoughtful pause, Thomas finally understood what he had heard. "My lord! Congratulations, Alex... Rory! I’m so happy for both of you..." freewebnσvel.cѳm
