Chapter 200: Forgive Him!

It was almost midnight, and Alex finally had time to return to his bedroom after no more guests came to see his grandpa.

When Alex silently entered the room, he was surprised to see Aurora not yet sleeping. It made him worry and feel terrible at the same time. All day, he didn’t have much time for her.

Hurriedly, he removed his suit and laid it on the sofa before walking to the bed.

"Why are you still awake?" Alex asked with concern.

He remembered that after their brief dinner, he had spent some time with her before going downstairs to join the rest of the family and a few influential guests who had just arrived to pay their last respects to his grandpa.

"I can’t sleep..." Aurora replied as she set her blanket aside and sat on the edge of the bed.

Seeing Alex standing before her, Aurora reached out her hand and held it gently. For a while, they both squeezed each other’s hands in silence.

After a while, Aurora looked up to meet his gaze. She could see the tiredness in his eyes. It made her worry and persuaded him to clean himself before they could rest.

But Alex just stood there without saying anything or even moving. She quickly got up and stood in front of him. Instead of asking anything more, she embraced him.

After a while, they embraced each other in a warm silence. Alex gently wrapped his arms around her and whispered, "I’m fine. I’m just exhausted."

"I understand," she said, releasing her embrace as she took his hand and guided him to the bathroom. "Go wash up! I’ll be here waiting for you..."

Alex smiled at her worried yet serious expression. Even though he wanted to tease her by asking her to accompany him in the shower, he dismissed the idea, remembering that she must be physically and emotionally tired.

He leaned closer to her and kissed her lips before hurrying into the bathroom; he didn’t want to keep her waiting.

...

As Aurora slept in Alex’s arms, she finally felt drowsy. But when she was not yet really asleep, Alex’s voice from above her head made her sleepiness disappear completely.

"Rory, I have something important to share. Earlier, I spoke to my grandfather’s lawyer, who told me that my grandfather changed his will before he passed away."

Alex’s voice sounded calm, but Aurora felt tense hearing it. She looked up to meet his gaze.

Even though the room lights were dim, she could still see the sadness and annoyance reflected in his gaze.

"What’s wrong with the will?" Aurora finally asked when she saw him appear reluctant to continue his words.

Alex turned to face the ceiling above, avoiding eye contact with her. This action clearly made her even more curious about why Alex looked so annoyed.

"Is there anything that makes you mad about the new will?" she asked again, breaking the silence.

"Hmm..." Alex finally replied.

Alex quickly notified her that his grandfather’s company shares were being divided between him and her father.

Upon hearing this, Aurora was taken aback. She glanced back at Alex.

"Wait, wait, Alex! Your grandpa gave my father, Thomas Moon, a share of Graystone Group?" Aurora felt it was unreal to hear that.

Why would the old man give her father a company share? This has never happened in her family history.

Despite the close family ties between Graystone and Moon, Aurora never heard that Graystone would grant them a company share.

"Yes! This is really pissing me off..."

Alex paused for a deep sigh. He looked her in the eyes and continued to voice his frustration upon learning about the new will. free𝑤ebnovel.com

"Grandpa believed he could win my forgiveness by handing over the shares to me and your father. He tried to buy us with his wealth. I truly disliked that, Rory! I despise him!"

"Alex... I..." Aurora found herself unable to complete her sentence. She hoped to persuade him to cease his disdain for his grandfather, but was also frustrated to hear about the new will.

Why would Andrew Graystone offer her father a Graystone Group share? Was he trying to expose himself as the person responsible for the accident that led to her death?

She felt puzzled.

After a while, they both got lost in their thoughts again.

But not long after, Alex once again shared something that left Aurora completely shocked.

"Rory, what makes me even angrier is that I heard from my dad... Grandpa actually had heart disease, but he stopped getting treatment recently and told my father he wanted to pay for your life with his," Alex said in his deep, soft voice. However, Aurora could hear the subtle tremors beneath it.

Instantly, she felt her heart tighten.

"Why does he act this way? It’s such a foolish choice. He should go to prison and stay there instead of ending his life!" Aurora wanted to express this, but somehow, all those words remained in her mind and never reached her lips.

"Alex, I feel bad for your grandpa..." Those were the only words that could escape her lips now.

"Don’t feel bad about him, Rory!"

A bittersweet smile formed on her lips as she shared her thoughts, "Alex, I already forgive him. And also, I pray for him to rest in peace."

Alex was surprised to hear her words. He frowned while looking at her and asked, "Why do you forgive him? He was already cruel to you? He didn’t deserve your forgiveness..."

"I know! But God has granted me another chance. I’ve returned, and now I’m here with you to expose him. Perhaps death is how God is punishing him. That’s why I choose to forgive him."

She lowered her gaze, trying to hide the nameless emotions she felt now.

After seeing the sadness in her eyes, Alex instantly felt terrible.

He pulled her closer in his embrace and whispered softly, "You are so kind, Rory. And thank you for forgiving him. Let’s just forget about it..."

Aurora chose to remain silent. Yet, in her mind, she responded, ’I’m not that kind! But yeah, I agree with you; this is supposed to be the last time we talk about his wickedness!’
