Rebirth: A Second chance at life-Chapter 132: Brilliance of the women who led them!
Without another word, the two of them started forward, boots splashing in shallow water as they headed toward the faint roar of waves in the distance—the port was close now.
As they moved, Hunter kept one eye on his surveillance watch.
Earlier, Hunter had released several bee-like drones—tiny surveillance units to track enemy positions.
Hunter’s expression darkened as he turned to Knight.
Another team has entered the cave," he said in a low, tense voice.
"All the mercenaries have surrounded the cave, and some of the troops are heading toward the ports.
And that’s not all—they’re planning to blow up the cave.
Several detonators have been placed, and they could be blown at any moment.
"We need to run, now," said Hunter.
Knight hummed, his expression tense but controlled.
The people they had rescued, however, were pale and trembling with fear after hearing Hunter’s words.
They needed no more convincing and said firmly, "We will run.
The freedom they received now came hard, so there’s no way they are going to die here."
Hunter and Knight both nodded at them, clearly pleased by their survival instinct and their will to keep moving, even though they were weak and barely hanging on.
The port where Hunter and Knight had arranged the yacht was still undiscovered, but that didn’t mean it would stay that way for long.
They needed to move fast and get the hell out of there.
The new team was moving at a fast pace, their footsteps echoing through the cave.
Hunter and the others sprinted toward the exit.
When they finally reached the entrance, Hunter stopped and raised his hand, signaling the group to keep moving.
"Knight," he said firmly, eyes scanning the tunnel behind them, "I’ll stay here and distract them. You take everyone to the port."
Knight nodded and led the people through the jungle. The sound of waves grew louder—the sea was close ahead.
Hunter had already informed Knight that the path was clear and that the troops were heading toward the west port.
Knight hummed in acknowledgment and pressed forward.
While walking, a sudden thud made him turn sharply.
A young girl had stumbled and fallen face-first onto the muddy ground.
"Stop!" Knight called out, raising a hand.
The others halted instantly, panic spreading through their tired faces.
He crouched beside the girl.
She looked no older than fourteen, her skin flushed red and drenched in sweat.
He touched her forehead—it was burning hot.
"She’s burning up," he muttered.
One of the women stepped closer, her voice trembling.
"She was fine just a while ago... maybe the fever hit her suddenly.
None of us have eaten properly in days."
Knight checked her pulse. It was faint and uneven.
"She’s exhausted and dehydrated. Her body’s giving up."
The same woman asked hesitantly, "Will she live?"
Knight looked up briefly, his eyes steady. "Not if we waste time here."
Without another word, he slipped his arms under the girl and lifted her gently. "I’ll carry her.
Everyone else, stay close. Don’t stop."
The people nodded weakly, their eyes filled with fear but also trust.
They began moving again, helping one another over the uneven ground.
High above, Hunter watched their movements through his portable screen, tracking every blip of heat. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
"They’re close," he murmured. "A few hundred meters to the docks."
When Knight reached the clearing near the shore, he laid the girl down on a flat surface and quickly opened his medical pouch.
He took her pulse again—still weak but steady.
"She’s fading fast," he said quietly, mostly to himself.
A man behind him asked, voice trembling, "Can’t we do anything?"
Knight shook his head slightly. "I can. Just keep calm."
He pulled out a small vial and syringe from his kit, filled it, and injected the medicine into her arm.
After a few tense seconds, the girl’s breathing began to slow, and the red in her cheeks faded slightly.
Knight exhaled, relief flickering across his face. "She’ll make it," he said, standing up.
Then, turning to the group, his tone grew firm again. "But we can’t stop now. Everyone, move. The yacht’s waiting."
The rescued nodded, determination replacing their fear.
They followed him toward the distant sound of crashing waves, their last hope waiting beyond the shore.
Hunter took out two detonators and placed each one at the entrance of the cave.
He double-checked the timer, then sprinted far away into the trees.
Once he reached a safe distance, he pressed the button on the remote.
A low rumble spread across the island, followed by a violent shake.
The ground trembled beneath his feet, and within seconds, the cave entrances collapsed, blocking every way out.
Dust and smoke rose high into the air as rocks shattered and tumbled.
Hunter didn’t stop to watch. He turned and sprinted through the forest, weaving through branches and roots until he reached the open shore.
The faint light from the moon glimmered over the sea, and in the distance, he saw the yacht waiting.
Knight and the others were already on board.
The rescued people huddled together, tired and scared, but alive. Hunter leapt onto the deck just as Knight started the engine.
The yacht pulled away from the island, cutting through the dark waves.
A few minutes later, a massive explosion lit the night sky behind them.
The island shook again, louder this time.
Even from the water, they could feel the tremors under the surface.
Hunter and Knight looked at each other, breathing hard but relieved.
A silent understanding passed between them — it was over, at least for now.
Before rescuing the people, they had already set explosives all around the island.
The plan was simple—once they stepped into the secret base, there would be no turning back. The island would be erased completely.
But these weren’t ordinary explosives. They were small, bee-sized robotic models—one of Luna’s finest innovations.
Each one could move, attach, and detonate with precise timing, designed to leave no trace behind.
Hunter had planted them at the island’s core, deep beneath the sea where no one could reach.
Now, as the distant explosions rippled across the horizon and the island slowly vanished beneath the waves, Hunter and Knight exchanged a look.
Their eyes gleamed with admiration and a touch of awe.
"Only Luna could think of something like this," Knight said with a smirk.
Hunter chuckled under his breath. "Yeah... our boss really is something else."
For a moment, the hardened mercenaries looked almost like proud pups—grateful, loyal, and amazed by the brilliance of the woman who led them.
