Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack-Chapter 711 - 691: Drawing Blood is the Scariest Thing
Luo Qianqian split up with Qin Nuan and Cong Rong after they locked the dormitory door and descended the stairs. Cong Rong went to the library alone, while Luo Qianqian and Qin Nuan cheerfully took Lu Simiao to the hospital.
Accompanying someone to a physical examination isn’t scary, but what’s frightening is bumping into acquaintances who insist you also get examined...
Right now, Luo Qianqian was enduring that very nightmare, especially since the person she bumped into was none other than Hu Si, with Qin Liang coincidentally at his side.
Thus, Luo Qianqian and Qin Nuan switched from being companions to also getting examined, sending resentful glances at the two ’coincidentally’ present individuals.
"I’ve never despised the Boss so much in an instant," Luo Qianqian glared at the two men who had already grabbed their medical test forms for them, "How could the Boss just suddenly show up at the hospital?"
Qin Nuan also wore a confused expression, "I don’t know either, he didn’t mention anything."
Lu Simiao, who held back his laughter and dared not let it show, initially felt a twinge of fear. Now? Not at all. There were not only two people keeping him company for the physical examination, but most importantly, there was the presence of Luo Qianqian, who looked like she could burst into tears at any moment, making him feel completely at ease.
After completing all the check-up items, Luo Qianqian was sternly ushered by Hu Si to queue up with the two others for the blood draw, looking utterly miserable. She’s still a child, why do they have to do this to her?
When it was Lu Simiao’s turn, he turned his head to the side and bit down on his teeth to endure the needle; initially behind him in line, Luo Qianqian forcefully pushed Qin Nuan ahead.
Qin Nuan, fairly mature, got her blood drawn with a calm expression. Under the watch of two pairs of eyes, Luo Qianqian’s arm trembled as she extended it through the blood draw window, her voice shaky, "Please be gentle..."
As the nurse swabbed her arm with alcohol, Luo Qianqian’s tears started to fall uncontrollably. She stubbornly kept silent but couldn’t hold back her tears.
Sobbing internally, "The syringe monster is invading Earth, and only the righteous warrior, the envoy of love, can save the world with his blood! This isn’t a physical exam; this is saving the world!" Luo Qianqian clenched her lip tightly, bowing her head to avoid looking, and numbed herself with silent pep talks.
"All done," the nurse said, holding a cotton swab over the puncture site, looking amusedly at Luo Qianqian, having seen people who threaten thunder but not rain, but never one who wept so silently and profusely.
"Awww, our poor Qianqian," Qin Nuan showed no mercy as she snapped a couple of photos before moving closer to Luo Qianqian, "With that look on your face, aren’t you afraid your cute little brother Lu Simiao will laugh at you?"
With tears in her eyes, Luo Qianqian glared at Lu Simiao, "He wouldn’t dare!" Her crying voice stripped the words of any intimidation.
Lu Simiao touched his nose, mhm, he wouldn’t dare. He’d better stay quietly out of it.
Seeing Luo Qianqian cry like this had made his initial fear completely vanish.
The other two had already disposed of their cotton swabs, but Luo Qianqian still kept pressing down on the spot, not daring to move.
Qin Liang walked over to Luo Qianqian with a tissue from his pocket to wipe away her tears and patted her shoulder, looking towards Qin Nuan, "Alright, you guys go eat. I’ll take the results back with me later."
Luo Qianqian nodded her head in misery, eager to leave. The smell of disinfectant was everywhere, making her behind sore, her hand sore, her arm sore—she felt uncomfortable all over.
She walked away without even looking at Hu Si, aggrieved. If it weren’t for Hu Si, she wouldn’t have gone through all this trouble.
Watching the two leave, Qin Liang turned to Hu Si and shrugged, "Looks like you’ve been officially resented."
"She’s resented me more than once or twice, I’m used to it," Hu Si replied nonchalantly. As someone who often ’tortured’ Luo Qianqian, he was well-prepared mentally.
"Want to get some food to make up for it?" Seeing Luo Qianqian’s aggrieved expression, Qin Nuan couldn’t help feeling helpless. How can someone still be afraid of injections at this age?
"I want to eat meat," Luo Qianqian immediately said, "I need to eat more meat to replenish the blood I lost."
Was the belief ’eat what you’ve lost’ still applicable in this context? However, Qin Nuan didn’t oppose the idea and remembered what Luo Qianqian had told Elvis before, "So, do you want to buy some and go eat at Elvis’s place, or should we invite him out?"
"Let’s go eat at his place, there’s more variety." Luo Qianqian giggled. She preferred street food with its multitude of options and, importantly, its cheapness, compared to upscale restaurants or just a single type of food. The only downfalls were the potential lack of hygiene and the possibility of an upset stomach.
"Alright then," Qin Nuan had guessed the answer before asking. They returned near the school, stopping here and there to buy quite a few things, not forgetting to get staples before heading back to Elvis’s residence. Elvis had already tidied up the coffee and was sitting on the sofa with a laptop, watching videos. Upon seeing the trio arrive, he showed no surprise. He closed the laptop, got up quickly to take the food from Luo Qianqian’s hands, placed it on the coffee table, and then brought slippers for the three of them. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
"Why don’t you lock your door? Aren’t you afraid of burglars?" Luo Qianqian frowned slightly at the open door.
Elvis looked at the door and chuckled, "Isn’t it because you guys were coming back? I usually have it locked."
Indeed, what he said was true; the door was usually locked except when expecting guests, for their convenience.
"I want to discuss something with you," Luo Qianqian said skillfully, handing over the last egg tart to Elvis midway through their meal.
Qin Nuan quickly used her drink to block Lu Simiao’s line of sight, "Not suitable for children, kids shouldn’t copy this."
Lu Simiao was about to express his shock, wanting to see what was going on, when he heard Luo Qianqian continue, "I want to copy your homework..."
Qin Nuan shook her head helplessly. Luo Qianqian was probably the only person who could shamelessly make such a request. Was it because she was younger?
Luo Qianqian added, "Actually, it’s not like I didn’t do it... Well, I mean I didn’t do it, but that’s not what I meant. I just didn’t know we had homework, so I didn’t do it."
Elvis raised an eyebrow, "Shouldn’t you be asking me what the homework is instead of asking to copy it directly from me?"
Luo Qianqian felt a bit awkward. Could she admit she was too lazy because she again had other things to do?
"Honestly," Elvis said with a serious face. Seeing the look Luo Qianqian gave him, he slowly started, "Actually, I didn’t do it either."
??? Luo Qianqian was stunned, "Really?"
"Really," Elvis nodded confidently.
The next second, something surprising happened right before Qin Nuan and Lu Simiao’s eyes, as Luo Qianqian snatched back the egg tart, "Then you might as well eat something else."
??? Elvis couldn’t believe what he saw. Was this how she treated him now that she saw no use for him? He hadn’t even finished speaking!
He himself might have not done his work, but he didn’t say he didn’t have any homework written down.
"Tell me what the homework is later. I knew I couldn’t rely on you, always taking sick leave. I’ll handle it myself when I get home," Luo Qianqian grumbled as she ate the egg tart.
