Chapter 700: Chapter 780: Mysterious Man

"Little one? What do you want to do?" Jimo Cheng’s face was full of confusion.

Luo Qianqian chuckled, "Mom and godmother’s birthday is coming up, isn’t it? ’The one who is closest to the water gets the moon first,’ right? Isn’t our teacher an expert in jade carving? Red seems much more festive than green, doesn’t it?" The main point was that An Zilan already had a green jade bracelet.

"Auntie’s birthday?" Jimo Cheng was startled, his mind rapidly recalling the information related to Luo Qianqian. Yes, that was correct.

Squinting his eyes, his thin lips, which were always turned up at the corners, tightened, and in no time, he curved into a smile, "I have an idea. Isn’t Purple Jade even more beautiful than Red Jade?"

Luo Qianqian looked at Jimo Cheng in surprise. Although what he said was true, Purple Jade was something scarce and hard to come by: "Is there any today?"

Jimo Cheng shook his head mysteriously, "I don’t know about today, but my grandfather has a piece."

Having said that, Jimo Cheng himself laughed. He wondered what Old Master Kong would think about being betrayed by his own grandson.

Meanwhile, far away in the Capital City, Old Master Kong suddenly felt his ears burn. He furrowed his brows, "Who is gossiping about me behind my back?"

At that moment, the price on stage had already exceeded that of yesterday’s closing Gambling Stone auction, and it continued to skyrocket. Luo Qianqian couldn’t help but click her tongue in wonder.

It was soon fixed at an astounding number that wouldn’t budge: three hundred million.

In the private room, an elderly man dressed in a loose Tang suit raised his eyebrows at the man in a business suit next to him, "Aren’t you being a bit too extravagant?"

The man was merely holding a bidding paddle, his face showing not a trace of expression: "Have you found out who it is?" His gaze didn’t shift but was fixed on the Red Jade on the screen.

The man was not especially handsome, but his indomitable will and resolute face made it clear that he was not one to be easily swayed.

The prayer beads in his hand were out of place with his suit, yet it seemed a suitable match for the elderly man beside him.

His skin was very fair and clear, almost as fair and radiant as Luo Qianqian’s.

His face bore no traces of time, and if not for the aura that surrounded him, one might think he was only eighteen, nineteen, or just over twenty. Yet, he emanated an aura of ’keep away,’ which made him seem much more mature than he was.

"Not yet, but the suspects have been narrowed down," the elder replied with sudden respect, his face devoid of any sign of humor, all seriousness and gravity.

The man nodded slightly, "Hurry, they should be leaving soon."

The elder bowed repeatedly and responded in agreement.

"I really...," Luo Qianqian watched with twitching cheeks as the price on the screen shot up, "Does it need to be this exaggerated?"

Seeing the befuddled expressions on Elder Hei and the others, Jimo Cheng frowned slightly. It wasn’t a family purchase? There weren’t many people in the venue who could afford such a sum, and besides, spending three hundred million on this piece of Red Jade, not counting the processing cost, would leave little profit. It was an utterly disproportionate loss.

The auctioneer was already declaring the winner of the night’s highest bid.

Luo Qianqian clicked her tongue repeatedly, her face full of disbelief, "Senior brother, you can’t be so wasteful in the future." Luo Qianqian was utterly serious.

Jimo Cheng’s face was a mix of laughter and helplessness. Had he ever been wasteful?

Luo Qianqian and Jimo Cheng were no longer interested in what was going on and decided to head back to the hotel. They said goodbye to Elder Hei and strolled along the roadside, chatting and laughing. It wasn’t far to the hotel, and since they were both not tired, walking back was quite convenient. Suddenly, Luo Qianqian stretched out her hand to pull Jimo Cheng, who was walking on the side closer to the road, towards her, tightly furrowing her brow as she looked at the street, which seemed normal. All she saw was a small whirlwind sweeping across the road.

"What’s wrong?" Jimo Cheng asked with a puzzled face.

Luo Qianqian hastily waved her hands, "Just now, I was wondering if senior brother might be scared." She felt she was being overcautious, but there was indeed a very dangerous feeling just now.

Luo Qianqian laughed with a hehe, looking rather composed as if she truly thought she was just overthinking it.

However, she had made up her mind to leave early, feeling that this place was completely incompatible with her. Although she had made some money, it always gave her a strange feeling.

Both of them failed to notice the older man behind them showing a trace of a smile before turning to leave.

They also missed the mark on the ground that looked as though it had been sliced by a sharp weapon.

Back at the hotel, Luo Qianqian lay on the bed with a gloomy face, it was rare to travel abroad, but whether it was bumping into weird punks or being obstructed when buying stones, there was always a premonition that something bad was about to happen.

This place must have the wrong magnetic field, otherwise, why would she feel so uncomfortable all the time?

After dinner, Jimo Cheng mentioned that they had a flight tomorrow morning and told her to get some early rest. Luo Qianqian breathed a sigh of relief, finally about to leave, finally about to get back to normal.

But would it really be so?

That night, just as Luo Qianqian was sleeping soundly, her eyes suddenly snapped open, and with a puzzled frown, she turned on the bedside lamp. She then saw the person standing in front of the window, and her eyes widened in an instant. She tried to speak but found she couldn’t make a sound; she could only clutch the quilt in terror.

The person standing in front of the window had their back to her, obstructing her view of their face. She could however discern their well-proportioned inverted triangle physique. Most notably, their hair draped over their shoulders hid any indication of their gender. They appeared slender with long legs, and the coat was too long, blocking the view of the chest and buttocks, leaving her unable to distinguish male from female.

"You’re quite calm," said the person, feeling Luo Qianqian’s eyes darting about. The voice was also soft, indeterminate of being male or female.

At this moment, Luo Qianqian could only think of a poem: The male rabbit’s feet kick fleetingly, the female rabbit’s eyes are bewildering, side by side they run on the ground, how can one discern whether I am male or female?

She genuinely couldn’t tell, not at all, not from the physique, not from the hairstyle, and certainly not from the voice. She doubted if her own judgement was still asleep and hadn’t woken up yet.

Staring at the person in front of the window, Luo Qianqian just furrowed her brows tightly. So, who exactly is this person? What do they want? Did they take a liking to some Gambling Stone?

Or are they planning to commit a crime of passion?

Luo Qianqian clutched the quilt tightly, trying to gain a sense of security from it.

"We will meet again," the person left her with these words; then, a gust of wind blew, and they were gone.

They were gone???

Luo Qianqian looked left and right to confirm there was no one in the room, stood by the window, and while looking at the curtains flying around and the opened window, murmured, "Did I sleep stupidly?" There was nothing outside the window, and even if someone knew kung fu, this was several floors up—jumping down would result in injury, if not death.

But her eyes fell on the bedside, and she froze, unable to move. A transparent, multi-colored card made from indiscernible material was tucked in the window frame, cool to the touch yet very hard, unable to be bent, with only a sequence of letters and numbers.

Luo Qianqian instinctively wanted to discard the card, but instead, as if possessed, she stored it away, even hiding it under her ID card.

The matcha green transparent card was embossed with a few characters: J00098.
