Chapter 587: Chapter 567: Fiancé Jimo Cheng

"This is so delicious." Luo Qianqian squinted her eyes as she cautiously nibbled on the dessert, terrified of smudging her lipstick and being scolded for it.

"Try this one." Jimo Cheng chuckled lightly, pushing the pastry he ordered towards her, "This one isn’t too rich, and the flavor is quite intense. It would taste even better if chilled for half an hour more."

As he spoke, he put a straw in the drink he had just ordered and pushed it in front of Luo Qianqian.

Luo Qianqian carefully forked a piece and nodded repeatedly. After swallowing what was in her mouth, she looked at Jimo Cheng with a face full of surprise, "You can make desserts too?"

Jimo Cheng smiled and nodded without saying a word.

"That’s so impressive. You seem like you can do anything. Shouldn’t someone like you be in an anime? Good-looking and good at everything, smart and physically skilled." Luo Qianqian’s face was full of admiration, then she looked puzzled and said, "Shouldn’t someone like you be matched with a beautiful female lead who can’t do anything and always causes trouble?"

Jimo Cheng couldn’t help but laugh, "What kind of anime are you watching? Do you think being good-looking is everything? Do you think we don’t see enough good-looking people? Not to mention me, do you see a shortage of handsome guys?"

Luo Qianqian was startled, then shook her head; indeed, there were many. Her own brother had five good-looking friends, Qin Wen and Qin Liang were also the type that stood out in a crowd, and there was Ye Liang. Even though he wasn’t her type, he could certainly catch Chang Xi’s eye on the street. And Xu Tianyi did well academically. Among her classmates, there were also many outstanding ones, like Elvis, Xi Ming, Gu Yanzhi, and so on...

"So for someone you’d like, is handsome enough? You wouldn’t get tired of dealing with his troubles every day?" Jimo Cheng smiled, "Of course, you are still young, you might not understand what I’m saying."

Luo Qianqian suddenly blushed with embarrassment. After all, she was already in her twenties and had been startled by a teenager who was her fiancé, which was really inappropriate.

Luo Qianqian enjoyed the desserts with a content face, while Jimo Cheng watched her eat, occasionally taking a graceful bite himself.

Shortly after, Jimo Cheng took out his vibrating phone from his pocket and looked apologetically at Luo Qianqian. After she told him to go ahead, he answered the call, "...On the rooftop... What? Chengxin Tang paper? We’ll come down immediately!"

After hanging up the phone, he saw Luo Qianqian’s eyes wide with surprise, "That idiot Qin Nuan!"

When the two returned to the banquet hall, they heard Old Master Jimo’s boisterous voice, "I don’t care, finders keepers. If you don’t share one with me, I’ll tell those old scholars to visit your house every day for tea!"

"You even want a gift from someone else’s birthday!" Old Master Luo’s voice followed.

Luo Qianqian and Jimo Cheng exchanged glances and called out in unison, "Grandpa."

Turning back to see the two, a path immediately opened up through the crowd leading to the two elders. However, before they could get through, Old Master Luo rushed over with a box in his arms, "Qianqian, this is from you, right?"

Luo Qianqian nodded blankly. Although she had originally planned to replace it with something else and wait for confirmation before giving it, by the sounds of it, it seemed to be confirmed now, right?

"See? It’s a gift from my granddaughter, so I’m not giving you any, you old kidnap-per of my granddaughter!" Old Master Luo ranted at Jimo Kong triumphantly.

Luo Qianqian looked on, completely baffled. So, what was happening exactly?

Then Old Master Kong stepped forward, pushing Jimo Cheng away and taking her hand, "Qianqian, your grandpa has been studying calligraphy and painting for so many years and has never before seen original Southern Tang Chengxin Tang paper. Where did you get it? Can you spare two sheets for your grandpa?"

Luo Qianqian’s face was a study in embarrassment, "Grandpa Kong, it was in that calligraphy book. And I’ve already given all of it to Grandpa, I didn’t keep any."

Jimo Cheng’s face was a picture of amazement. Luo Qianqian had chosen a calligraphy copybook that didn’t look impressive at all—a fact he had already heard from Grandpa; however, he had never imagined that such an unremarkable, tattered copybook, unloved and overlooked, could contain such a treasure.

Suddenly, only to see Jimo Kong’s face turning all colors of the rainbow. "That, that copybook?" It dawned on him that the copybook was indeed placed on Chengxin Tang paper.

Luo Qianqian nodded in confusion, "Yes, I felt something was off this morning and dissected it. Then I discovered there was another layer inside." Her face was nonchalant, having found treasure by fluke. Nobody expected that a seemingly trivial copybook would hold such a secret.

"Luck, heh, you old man won’t be able to get jealous of," Old Master Luo laughed proudly and made sure to secure the box tightly, holding it close to his chest.

"You stinking old man, you’re not that cultured yourself. Sitting on such treasure yet not giving a penny? What are you, a miser?" Old Master Kong didn’t have the time to dwell on the object sold for fifty bucks. Luo Qianqian was clearly biased towards her Grandpa Luo, and talking to her would be faster than negotiating with Old Man Luo.

After two sly glances, Old Master Kong stopped in his tracks, smugly saying, "Ah, fortunately, I have a grandson. In the future, your little treasure will be ours. Whatever good stuff she finds will be mine. What’s it to you, Old Luo?"

Old Master Luo halted and glared with bristling mustache, "Qianqian is only in her teens; you’re scheming already. It doesn’t count, humph, becoming in-laws with you is worse than finding someone Qianqian likes to marry into the Luo Family."

Luo Qianqian blinked, amused by her grandpa’s rare burst of energy.

As he said those words, perhaps he wasn’t entirely joking, right? Luo Qianqian thought as she turned her eyes towards Jimo Cheng, only to encounter his gaze filled with tender warmth.

Jimo Cheng, you’re only sixteen—aren’t you too precocious for your age?

Feeling his gaze, Luo Qianqian’s face turned red, and she quickly apologized, "My grandpa is being a bit childish. I’ll talk to him when I get home and try to persuade him."

Jimo Cheng shook his head, "It doesn’t matter, that was originally a gift you gave to Grandpa Luo. His care in protecting it shows how much he values you." His gaze then turned sharp as he looked towards a group of onlookers watching the scene. "Do you know about the Four Great Noble Families?"

Luo Qianqian nodded, "Sort of."

"That person there belongs to the Chu Family." Jimo Cheng pointed towards a well-dressed young man, no more than twenty, exuding the aura of someone who had over a decade of experience in the corporate world, his interaction with the people around him crafty as a fox, seemingly casual but noticing everything.

Luo Qianqian frowned slightly, "And then?"

"The Xu Family’s backup plan is hidden within the Chu Family." Luo Qianqian frowned; she understood that this Chu Family wasn’t the one she knew, not Chu Ci’s family.

But then she looked at Jimo Cheng with a strange expression, "How do you know all this?"

Jimo Cheng smiled and moved closer to Luo Qianqian’s ear, as if possessed, "I have been paying attention to your affairs."

His words made Luo Qianqian’s face flush, but she regained her composure the next second. She understood that the Luo Family’s lack of denial meant that this relationship had the potential to continue and be beneficial to them, "Stop teasing, what else then?"

"Guess now, who could challenge the currently rising power of the Chu Family?" 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

After a moment of silence, Luo Qianqian said, "The Lin Family?"

Though the Lin Family’s influence couldn’t match the Chu Family’s at the moment, their recent momentum was indeed fierce.
