Re: Timeless Apocalypse-Chapter 164: Septuple Evolution
Now that his Frames had forged the subjects themselves, he had nothing to worry about and only had to choose based on his personal preference and current circumstances.
’Apart from the Hound and Hog Walker, all the others are long-distance Field Control or Disruption types. There’s one focused on Aerial Fields, another on Earthen Fields, and the last is spiritual field control.’
’Spiritual Field Control feels a bit redundant since I’ll be reawakening my spark soon, and I doubt anything will be better than it. Unless I gain an ability that’ll massively boost my spark’s might.’
’Still, it might be redundant.’
In his mind, he temporarily crossed off the first subject, the Heart Eating Headless Maw.
After reading the description, part of him was also afraid he’d gain a characteristic that would make his body incorporeal. Though he knew the fear was unfounded, he still couldn’t help but have it.
’Now between Aerial and Earthen Field Control... realistically, if I choose Aerial control, I’ll probably gain wings of sorts or an innate flight ability.’
He caressed his chin. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
’That’s going to be quite the learning curve. Though it shouldn’t take too long, I don’t know if I want to commit even that little time to it... I already have so much to work on.’
’So ideally, I’d choose the Earthen Field control but...’
...
[Frame Subject: Thorne Avalanche Karwen Lord
>Type: Order Alignment
>Specialisation: Earth-Bound Field Support]
...
’Order alignment.’
He could easily tell this meant the creature’s abilities would mainly thrive on his Orderly Aether and resonance-based abilities.
But there was an issue with that.
In the short term, this would be the best choice, because most of the world beyond the trial was full of orderly aether and also because Uriel mainly mastered resonance arts.
But in the long term, he wasn’t sure of his choice.
When he eventually mastered Harmony and Dissonance, the counterparts of resonance—as he’d found out through the system—what would he do?
To focus on a single niche felt like a waste of his potential.
He had to specialise, but he had to do so in a way that incorporated most, if not all, of his own abilities.
But there was also one additional detail that made him even more hesitant.
...
[•Description: The Gods of Life could not rule over the rowdy worlds of chaos, and thus the Karwen were born of their desire to pierce chaos with a righteous blade of Order—the Karwen, the Karwen Lord, is order and life incarnate.]
...
Uriel was very much aware that his Frame crafted his Subjects through his Pioneer path, meaning that in the real world it was impossible for the Karwen Lords to exist—which played even more into his confusion regarding the descriptions and their secrets.
But that wasn’t the point.
The Gods.
The mention of the Gods and their implication in the birth of the Karwen rubbed him the wrong way, and for some reason he could feel his runic scar pulsate at the thought, almost as if to warn him.
Almost as if to tell him he was on the verge of committing a mistake.
’Alright, so I guess it’s between the Hog Walker and the Blood Hound then.’
His runic scar was the only reason he was alive and not absolutely insane, and it was the only thing he had left of his spark. He’d be an absolute fool not to trust it.
’Hm.’
’Well, if I go off all the criteria I used for the others, then the Blood Hound is the only one that suits my needs.’
It was a perfect hybrid, meaning it would be able to perfectly work with his chaos, order, and erudite aether. Its description was relatively neutral, and it was the most well-rounded.
Plus, it had a minor focus on survival.
He made his choice.
[Frame Subject {Void-Bound Chaos Blood Hound} has been chosen!]
Uriel felt his abode mark ripple, and deep within its space dozens of items were taken as his Frame forged a Prime Gem on its own, completing it in no time.
It was quite fascinating to watch as seven gems formed in front of Uriel, perfectly harmonising with him and his core, of beautiful shades of deep platinum and dark gold.
[Frame-Forged Prime-Sworn Gems have been made!]
Uriel took the floating gems into his hand but didn’t immediately ingest them. Instead, he addressed the little fox.
"Hey, little guy, I’m about to evolve, so it’s going to be rowdy for a little bit. I’m not sure if maybe you want to go and—"
"...grrr!"
"—alright, I just thought I’d let you know first. I’m trying to be mindful. You’re so small I don’t really have a gauge on how sturdy you are."
"Kih."
He raised a brow in surprise. "You’re going to evolve as well? You know, I’ve never asked myself how beasts evolved. I actually—"
He suddenly paused.
’How the hell am I able to understand what he’s saying?’
He was at a loss. "Did you do something to me in my sleep?"
"..."
"Or maybe because you drank my blood I can... sigh... whatever." He slotted the oddity in the back of his mind.
"Just be careful."
Without waiting any longer, he threw the crystals into his mouth, then bit down, chewing for a couple moments before he swallowed.
He felt his cores instantly shudder, his aether rising and rushing across his veins, and his rapidly thumping heart—
