Re-Overlord: I Can Acquire Anything!-Chapter 161: Battle Of Stargaze City (3)
Chapter 161: Battle Of Stargaze City (3)
Suddenly, the wind shifted and a haunting melody played out.
Then from the shadows beyond the sea mist, hundreds of small, dark vessels emerged like ghost ships.
Silent and swift, they sliced through the water without making a sound. freewēbnoveℓ.com
Shirley’s expression tensed. "Another fleet?"
Igaris narrowed his eyes. "Yed. But they are different."
In the next instant, the air turned cold. A suffocating presence descended across the battlefield like a sheet of black silk.
Then it began.
"Squelch, Thud. Squelch, thud."
One by one, Igaris’ soldiers started falling. Some combusted from within, their internal organs pierced by invisible blades. Others were simply sliced apart in mid-step, never seeing their attackers.
Screams erupted among the newly recruited officers. The beast units roared in confusion. Even the undead staggered, swiping at shadows that vanished before contact.
From above, streaks of black lightning marked the entry of shadowy figures garbed in pitch-black armor, their movements soundless, their presence like the death of light itself.
"They are here..." Igaris’ eyes narrowed grimly. "House Brown’s infamous Shadow Tide. All 30,000 of them."
"HAHAHAHA..."
On the enemy ships, Dominic Ecrox let out a maniacal laughter. "I knew those bastards were waiting for the perfect time. That’s House Brown for you!"
Zeref Woodinson grinned coldly. "With them here, even that monster of a boy will fall. Look at his forces— they are bleeding now."
Lucius Vermal sneered, folding his arms. "He was so arrogant. He thought standing alone meant he could be king."
Adrian Ecrox cracked his knuckles and stepped forward on his ship. "Let the reaping begin. Let’s see how long he can keep that confidence."
Back on the battlefield, Evernight gritted her teeth. "These assassins... they blend with the void itself. My eyes can barely trace them."
Dozens of her demons were falling rapidly, their cores shattered by pinpoint strikes.
Shirley’s robes fluttered as she activated her charm power again, but even her influence struggled to halt shadows that carried no desire, no lust, no hatred. Only cold, professional efficiency.
"Lord!" Malthius landed beside Igaris, bloodied but standing firm. "They are aiming for our command line. Give the order. We will hold. Even if it costs every bone I possess."
Igaris said nothing for a moment, his gaze sweeping the chaos.
For the first time since the battle began, the tide had turned.
The enemy’s forces roared with renewed morale. Trumpets echoed from the enemy fleet. Their flags whipped violently in the wind, as if mocking the defenders of Stargaze.
Igaris’ eyes gleamed with silent fury.
He saw his army was struggling against those shadow assassins. Their helplessness reached into his heart.
So with a calm step on air, Igaris finally stepped forward, deciding to take things into his own hand. Until his father come back with Rebel Alliance, they would have to held the fort.
The battlefield trembled as Igaris rose into the air, his dark hair flowing like demonic banners in the storm wind. His expression was composed, but his presence felt like a mountain falling onto the world.
He closed his eyes for a brief moment, allowing his Architect’s Eyes to fully activate.
In that instant, the shadows were no longer shadows to him.
Each flickering assassin in the void, every slithering figure blending with the black wind, every crouched killer waiting to strike his army — they were laid bare before his gaze, stripped of their cloaks and illusions.
"They think they can hide?" Igaris muttered coldly.
He raised his hand.
[ Soul Eclipse ]
A dark sphere of condensed spiritual energy formed in his palm. It pulsed once — then burst.
Boom!
The sky above the battlefield darkened like voif, as if the moon itself had blinked.
Then a dome of ethereal shadows spread out, washing over the entire coast.
And then, screams erupted.
"Urgh!"
"Wh-what is this light?!"
"Thud! Thud! Thud!"
Within seconds, hundreds of assassins from House Brown collapsed, completely dead.
Hundreds after hundreds enemies’ Souls collapsed each second. They soul were destroyed, and even the strong assassins souls were left in disarray.
Their stealth techniques crumbled, exposing their bodies. Dozens were immediately shot down by the Overlord’s archers and Beasts.
Shirley’s eyes widened. "H-He... Darling, crished their souls instantly."
Beside her, Evernight grinned viciously. "That’s what an Overlord should be like."
But Igaris wasn’t done yet.
He summoned his blade.
[ Godslayer Sword Style: 3rd Form — Thousand Moon Decimation ]
The sky flashed silver as his blade extended outward, turning into a line of crescent arcs that rained down like judgment.
Swish, swish, swish...
Each crescent moved with impossible precision, cutting down shadow assassins mid-flip, behind walls, beneath rock, even within void rifts.
Boom. Boom. Boom.
The coastline shook with the impacts.
One assassin managed to reach within striking distance of Shirley and Evernight, but before he could even draw blood, his body exploded into ash.
"Stay near me, my loves. I won’t let them touch a single strand of your hair," Igaris said, gently descending beside her.
"Fufufu... But what about the others?"
He turned, and his eyes gleamed again.
"I’ll protect all of them."
Far across the battlefield, the enemy commanders felt the change in tide again.
Zeref clenched his fists. "Impossible. How can one man counter an entire army of assassins?"
Dominic’s jaw tightened. "They were our trump card... and he cut them like wheat."
Lucius, who had been grinning earlier, now swallowed hard. "What is that monster? That’s not even human anymore."
Adrian stepped back, lips twitching. "...Should we retreat?"
"No!" roared Dominic. "We push forward! We haven’t used the Mana Cannons yet. If we combine all fleets and fire together, we can still crush the city!"
As enemy ships began to realign for one massive volley, Igaris raised his hand again.
[ Kinetic Redirection ]
He bent the very force of the enemy’s artillery energy with invisible pressure waves, rerouting the cannon fire back into the sea.
Explosions erupted across their own ships as they were caught in the redirected blast. Fire and water mingled, and chaos reigned.
The battle was far from over.
This night would be a long one.
