Re: In My Bloody Hit Novel-Chapter 742: What Is Worship?
As Chiron sat amid the slowly settling winds, the last echoes of thunder fading into silence, D3 approached him. Her massive three-headed form cast a long shadow over the newly healed earth. One head bowed respectfully, another tilted with curiosity, while the third wore an unmistakable grin.
"The tribulation is over," she said, her voice layered and resonant. "It will be many years before Heaven dares to test this land again."
Chiron nodded, exhaling slowly.
But then he noticed it.
One of D3's heads was giggling, a deep, rumbling sound filled with unrestrained joy.
He glanced up at her. "You look pleased."
She nodded eagerly, all three heads moving at once. "Very. The Precious Land is growing rapidly. And I…" she paused, pride seeping into her tone, "…I will soon evolve into a Great Precious Land Spirit."
Chiron froze.
He turned fully toward her, eyes narrowing with sharp interest.
"There are ranks?" he asked.
D3 nodded again. "Yes. There are. I was a ranked lowest when I became a precious land spirit, and when chosen to imprison Manu Madayaki, I became a middle rank.
While my next rank should have been a high rank, I just absorbed divine essence."
She nodded in satisfaction as she continued, rather very chatty as a result of her excited mood.
"In the mortal world, Precious Lands are rare because of energy constraints and unstable foundations. But in the Heavens…" Her eyes gleamed. "They are abundant."
Chiron's breath caught.
Slowly, he turned to her, eyes widening. "You… have access to Heaven?"
D3 lifted one hand and scratched at one of her thick orc necks, looking almost sheepish. "Not exactly access. But Precious Land Spirits can gather in a designated heavenly convergence. It is a place where we meet, exchange resources, and share growth methods."
Silence fell.
Then—
Chiron suddenly stood and grabbed her by the front of her garments, lifting her enormous frame just enough to make his fury clear.
"You had this information," he said sharply, "and you're only telling me now?"
D3 quickly shook all three heads. "Master, you always have plans layered upon plans. I did not know this would matter to you. I thought… you already knew."
Chiron released her slowly, rubbing his temples as his mind raced.
Then again, he could not blame her for such information.
As a result of his knowledge of this world, Chiron had always been ahead of things. But that did not mean he knew everything.
In fact, he knew only so much. Especially because the book ended after the Mc gave his life and died.
But now, Chiron had a feeling that he had not died but ascended to heaven.
Considering the great deeds he did on the earth, that was a very logical conclusion.
Then again, he remembered the dreams he had of the MC.
No doubt, he was trapped somewhere in the heavens by Fate.
There was a possibility that he would even be targeted after his ascension. But it was not like he could stop it now.
It was not like he even wanted to stop it.
A moment later, he looked up. "Can you obtain resources for me from this place?"
D3 shook her head again, her tone turning serious. "Not freely. In the Heavens, nothing is free. And the currency is not spirit stones, nor crystals."
She paused.
"It is called Worship."
Chiron's eyes gleamed. "Worship you say?"
D3 lowered her massive frame slightly, her three faces turning solemn as she explained.
"Faith," she said, "is the root. It is ownership. A god's faith cannot be stolen or taken by another god. It binds the believer's soul directly to its deity. To violate that is to invite annihilation from Heaven itself."
This much, Chiron already knew. It was the reason her won against the avatar of that monk.
He had exposed the monk to his faith crystals. This was faith that his believers had in him.
This literally reminded him of that expression by on earth.
"One man's food is another's poison."
It was his saving grace this time. If not that battle would have been worse.
Also, he did not want to show his ace cards. Those were reserved for his ascension plans.
D3 paused, letting the weight of her words sink in.
"But worship is different," she continued. "Worship is praise. Reverence. Awe. Gratitude. It is the act of lifting a name higher, not the act of belonging to it."
Chiron listened in silence.
"That is why temples exist," D3 went on. "Not merely as places of prayer, but as engines. Structures designed to shape emotion, ritual, fear, hope—so that worship can be refined and extracted. Gods trade in worship. They exchange it, hoard it, refine it, and use it to elevate their divine ranks."
She looked directly at him.
"Because worship is not ownership, one god can absorb the worship directed at another… and grow stronger from it."
Chiron nodded slowly.
Then his thoughts shifted—to the people of the Precious Land, to the believers he had brought from the outside world, to the faith he was quietly, methodically spreading across the surface.
He asked, "My followers. Were they harmed during the battle with the avatar?"
D3's expression darkened. "Yes. The losses were… devastating."
Chiron's gaze hardened, but before he could speak, she continued.
"However," she said carefully, "I already have a method in mind. One that will ensure they believe their survival was only possible because you answered their prayers. Their fear, their gratitude, their relief—these will become worship."
Chiron nodded.
"That will do."
He then turned fully toward her. "Give me everything you know about worship. Structures. Methods. Heavenly exchanges. All of it.
In fact, i am sure in the circles of Precious land spirits up there, they talk. Give me information about the powers there. As mich as you can get.
I believe I might have just made a new enemy."
D3 did not hesitate.
She bowed deeply, all three heads lowering in unison.
"As you command, Master."
