Chapter Twenty-Nine: Abyssal Energy

---

[System Notification:

[You have attempted fusion between a spirit and your summon.]

[A highly compatible spirit has been detected.]

[Carrying out fusion...]

[Congratulations! You have attained a spirit.]

[Congratulations! You have unlocked your spirit sea.]

---

Excitement welled up within Twilight as he observed the obvious changes in his summon, which was now a spirit.

The first change was its physical appearance. No longer resembling an ordinary animal, it had become ethereal, exuding both grace and power.

The second change was more mysterious. It gave off the sensation of both life and death, seamlessly blending the two into something in between — a presence that felt utterly nonexistent.

Yes, a nonexistent being!

Twilight frowned.

Even as he stared at the spirit before him, he couldn't sense its presence in the slightest.

If not for the strong connection between them, he would have been completely unaware of its existence.

Shaking his head to push away such thoughts, Twilight accessed his system interface and found a newly unlocked section titled [Spirits].

Without hesitation, he expanded it, eager to view more information.

However, he was met with a dead end as the Sovereign System's voice echoed in his ears.

---

[System Notification:

[Unable to view your spirit's information.]

[You must name your spirit first.]

---

"So it all comes down to a name," Twilight groaned inwardly, feeling a mild headache at the thought.

Still, he soon shook his head and muttered, "Ash."

He hadn't needed to think too hard about it, though he still found his own naming sense questionable, hence his earlier hesitation.

---

[System Notification:

[You have successfully named your spirit.]

[Accessing spirit's information...]

{Wind Strider} – Enhances speed by utilizing wind currents.

Reading through Ash's information, Twilight smiled in satisfaction.

He had to admit that using the Summon Array on the Night Wing's corpse had been a wise decision.

Now that he had fused the Night Wing's spirit with his summon, he had essentially struck gold.

That said... the Spirit Fusion ability intrigued him. He had to resist the urge to test it immediately.

Twilight knew he had other matters to attend to first — namely, his newly unlocked Spirit Sea.

If his assumptions were correct, the Spirit Sea functioned similarly to a Magical Domain.

And if that was true, then his Spirit Heart would likely reside within it.

Although knowing its exact location wasn't particularly important, curiosity compelled him to see what it looked like.

Setting those thoughts aside, he sat cross-legged on the marble floor and focused inward.

Finding one's Magical Domain wasn't particularly difficult. All one needed to do was follow the flow of spiritual energy within the body and trace it back to its source.

This source — often called the Vital Core — was the wellspring of all energy in a cultivator's body and was housed within their Magical Domain.

However, Twilight's case was... unique.

Unbelievably unique.

Not only did he possess a Fragmented Vital Core, but he also had an Abyssal Core and a Spirit Heart.

In essence, he had two Domains.

The first was his Abyssal Domain, which he had discovered during his seven-day stay at Alice's headquarters.

Unlike a typical Magical Domain, which were filled to the brim with life and pulsed with spiritual energy, his Abyssal Domain was barren — lifeless, even.

No spiritual energy. No vitality.

Only a daunting, massive black core.

The second was his newly unlocked Spirit Sea.

If his theory was correct, the Spirit Sea would function like a normal Magical Domain.

And if that were true... then, combined with his Abyssal Domain, Twilight knew he would one day become a powerhouse feared by all.

But if he also managed to repair his Fragmented Vital Core and cultivate it to its peak...

Then he would possess three

sources of power.

Three damned sources!

In this world, every human was limited to one power source... their Vital Core.

Once it was destroyed, their fate was sealed.

Yet, here he was, standing on the precipice of something unimaginable to normal cultivators.

If he cultivated his Spirit Heart to the rumoured Immortal Realm, his Abyssal Core to that same level, and repaired his Vital Core to match them...

He would essentially become invincible under the heavens.

But as exciting as that thought was, Twilight let out a rueful sigh.

He knew all of this was merely his wishful thinking.

His Abyssal Core wasn't even close to entering the first stage of cultivation.

His Fragmented Vital Core was still shattered and non-functional to say the least.

And even if he repaired it, catching up to his Spirit Heart's cultivation would take too long.

Not to mention, cultivating two power sources would already slow his growth significantly... let alone three.

Suppressing his frustration, Twilight turned his focus inward and located two distinct energy sources within his body.

Sinking his consciousness into the first, his vision warped.

A moment later, he found himself standing on a vast black landscape.

He recognized this place almost instantly.

His Abyssal Domain.

Here, in this eerie void, his Abyssal Core rested.

Normally, he wouldn't have come back here.

But earlier today, after slaying the Night Wing, he had felt something.

He felt his Abyssal Core had... strengthened.

Now, he wanted to see the change for himself.

As he observed his domain, chilly winds howled softly, and high above, the black core floated in the void.

But something was different.

A shadow flickered across its surface, moving unnaturally — eerily familiar.

Yes.

It was familiar because it looked exactly like the Night Wing!

Understanding immediately dawned upon Twilight.

The System had told him earlier: "

[Your abyss within grows darker.]

And now he understood why.

The Night Wing's essence had fused into his Abyssal Core.

This... this was no small change.

Something within his domain was shifting.

And at its heart, he could sense a new energy.

It wasn't spiritual energy. Instead, it was something foreign.

Something darker.

Yet... somehow, it also felt oddly familiar.

If he had to name it...

He would call it Abyssal Energy.

A fusion of dread, shadows, darkness, and despair, all woven into a single, flawless force.

A slow, exhilarated grin spread across Twilight's face.

If he could harness this Abyssal Energy, his combat prowess would undergo earth-shattering transformations.

While others relied on a single energy reserve... he would have two.

And with that advantage, even zerg tactics would be useless against him.

Twilight was still smiling as his consciousness exited his Abyssal Domain.

If he could slay more creatures and absorb their shadows into his Abyssal Core...

Not only would his Abyssal Cultivation would skyrocket, but his abyssal energy would also increase significantly.

Suppressing his excitement, he closed his eyes once more and linked his consciousness to his Spirit Sea.

Once again, his vision warped.

But this time...

When he saw what awaited him, he couldn't help but gasp as his eyes widened in profound shock.

"How is this possible?!"
