Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster-Chapter 337: Rael Sutekh, The Platinum Darkness Demon?
Chapter 337: Rael Sutekh, The Platinum Darkness Demon?
<Lilith: This is a little unexpected. I thought your wife would be the first to contact me. Alas, life is full of surprises, isn’t it?>
Rael rolled his eyes and jumped onto a nearby roof, then glanced east.
The Demonic Lands were around 7,000 kilometers away from his current location, so it should take him around 10 seconds to arrive.
<Rael Sutekh: I have a few questions and a proposal. Not a marriage proposal.>
A few moments later, she replied.
<Lilith: Sure, but I’m currently staying in Mal’Tharan as I’m on a bit of a vacation. I’ll be back in Brightspire in two weeks.>
Rael sighed, and without wasting another moment, kicked off the ground.
It only took 2 seconds to reach the snow biome wall. It stretched high into the sky, and the only way around it was through the giant stone structure beside him.
It was clearly made by dwarves, but likely ancient dwarves, given the peculiar patterns he had never seen before.
Still, walls didn’t matter much to him as he leaped into the sky, easily crossing the ice wall.
Then, he used his Mosquito wings to gently glide down, until he eventually picked up the pace again.
And just 6 seconds later, he was in Mal’Tharan.
It was surrounded by black ice and constant storms, and it seemed like the sky above was always dark. The land around it pulsed with a strange, corrupted energy, giving him an ominous feeling.
But even so, he pushed the feeling aside as he approached the city.
The city was built into the side of a jagged mountain, with dark stone towers rising unevenly across different cliff levels. Black ice clung to the edges of the structures and thick chains connected platforms, which were suspended in the air. Bridges of carved obsidian linked the main spires.
It wasn’t even the capital, yet it was that extravagant. Clearly, the Demonic Lands were much more advanced than he had given them credit for.
Anyhow... Rael opened up the chatroom and sent her another message.
<Rael Sutekh: I’m outside the city. There’s a big gate in front of me and a few horned demons running at me with their swords.>
Less than a second later, a figure manifested in front of him, belonging to none other than Lilith.
Her black hair fluttered in the cold winds and her crimson eyes locked onto the approaching demons, causing them to halt in an instant.
"M-Mistress!"
"Be careful, Mistress! There’s a human behind you!"
Lilith rolled her eyes.
"I’m not blind, Karagon. Karagal. Get back to your posts."
The two demons bowed in an instant and ran back. As for Lilith, she turned toward Rael and nodded.
Her smile’s a bit different than last time... Rael mused. She tried to seduce me before, but now she looks frustrated.
In the end, honesty was the best policy.
"What’s wrong?" Rael asked. "You seem a little off."
Lilith let out a faint chuckle and rested her hand on her cheek. "You noticed, huh? I guess I’m not very good at hiding my feelings, am I?"
She paused, sighing. "Anyways, don’t mind me. What’s the proposal you mentioned?"
It didn’t seem like the best of times to bring it up, but the Demonic Lands, Yrgon, and Ogarak were the only countries where he didn’t want to spark unnecessary outrage.
But since Lilith was a demon, there was no point in beating around the bush.
"I’d like to become the ruler of the Demonic Lands," Rael said plainly, causing her eyes to widen.
"You want what...? Are you sure you’re not drunk, Rael Sutekh?" Lilith asked in disbelief.
Rael shrugged. "I’m sure you know about the Country Management system all rulers get, right? I also have a skill that gives me a certain amount of money and experience from everyone inside my controlled territories."
"Well... that does sound intriguing. I would be interested if it meant both sides could benefit," Lilith muttered, a frown slowly appearing on her face. "But you do realize that only demons can become the kings of demons, right?"
Rael’s brows twitched. "I didn’t know that... but I’m sure there’s a workaround."
Lilith shook her head. "No offense, but I don’t like leeches. If your only goal here is to take money from my people, then you can come at me with your Plan B. The only way I’m accepting this proposal is if you become an actual darkness demon like me."
She leaned in. "That is your only option, Rael. So unless you—"
"What are the benefits of becoming a Darkness Demon?" Rael interrupted.
Lilith’s eyes once again widened. "You’re considering it...? You’re the strangest human I have ever seen."
She paused, then decided to explain.
"I’ve already explained this before, but in case you forgot, I’ll remind you. Darkness Demons are very resistant to losing control of their emotions, but you could say we could turn a bit gloomy at times."
I guess that’s why her mood is a little off.
"We are more powerful when it is dark, and our mind manipulation abilities are much stronger against beings with a weaker will," Lilith replied. "But it does come with some side effects. For one, if your emotions go out of control, you may affect those around you."
She let out a sigh. "The most annoying one is probably the constant negative thoughts eating away at your mind every single waking moment. We’ve built up a resistance to mental intrusions and I’m one of the few people who has completely gotten rid of those voices."
"But..." Lilith looked him up and down. "You’re a human, so you’d be haunted by those voices. I really wouldn’t recommend it."
This race seems like it was literally made for me, Rael thought with a hidden smile. My mind-based skills would go through a drastic change, I’d become stronger in the dark, and all that without...
"Hmm... hypothetically..." Rael trailed off, a faint smile appearing on his face. "Let’s say I have an ability that completely locks away my mind from outer influence. Would that be enough to resist it?"
"Um... I believe so," Lilith replied, narrowing her eyes. "Hypothetically, if you have such a skill, then you wouldn’t be affected by the Darkness Demon transformation in the slightest."
Well, that’s solved, Rael thought with a hum and glanced at one thing in particular.
—The Mindweaver’s gift.
4. Your mind is sealed, and no one can access it without your permission.
Still...
"Is it possible to become a Darkness Demon through some kind of ritual?"
He didn’t exactly want to waste his next evolution on a simple demon race.
After all, he had already found a race he wanted to switch to.
<Change Race Into: Fractured Fatekin (Epic): 50,000,000,000 Trell>
Fractured Fatekin (Epic)
—Evolve into an extinct race that was once known for their deep connection to the universe.
+2% Resistance to Causality Damage
+5% Efficiency to Prediction-Based skills and abilities
+0.1% Affinity With the Time Element
Gain Skill: Echo Step (Rare)
He only needed an extra 30 billion Trell and he could evolve right away.
Still, he glanced back at Lilith, who looked mildly concerned.
"There is a ritual... yes, but it’s not exactly pleasant," Lilith said with a slight frown. "The ritual will invert your personality for a few minutes, and you might recall some traumatic memories. Your appearance won’t be altered too much... I think."
She narrowed her eyes with slight worry.
"This is my final warning. Are you really sure you want to go through with this?"
