Re-awakening: From mortal to godhood-Chapter 37: PLANS
In the room, Levi and Ruby sat calmly on the sofa on one side. The chair was made with blue linen that complemented the blue paintings of the room. Before the chair was a table,
The room itself had a large window on the right of the bed at the end of the wall. On the left was a wardrobe made of beautiful wood that gave off the calm air of opulence.
"Smart move back there," Levi praised genuinely.
Earlier, Ruby had asked all those men to come daily for drinks, but it was not an act of kindness. Rather, it was a strategic deal to get more information.
The best place you can ever get information is a bar. Most of the people who went there were adventurers who had explored their fair share of the domain they were in, and they knew more than most people.
She just waved it off with a slight smile. "I was only trying my best to complete the mission."
Levi nodded at her modesty, not pushing words further to avoid awkwardness.
"So, what do we do from here?" He asked in a quiet tone.
"We eat, then mingle with those adventurers downstairs. They might know useful things. But for them to spill them, they need to get drunk." As she said this, a twisted grin formed on her face, making her look rather crazed.
"I don’t catch your drift," Levi said directly, not buying into her madness.
"Don’t worry about that, leave it to me."
Levi wanted to talk, but he left it at that. Although they were teammates and they needed to be aware of their plans, some secrets were just never meant to be spilt, no matter what.
While they continued their discussion, a knock rang on their door, slow and gentle.
"Come in," Ruby said directly.
The door opened shortly after, revealing 2 maids pushing 2 trolleys into the room. The trolleys were filled with food of several delicacies, ranging from meat to grains, and even appetisers and drinks were not left out.
Before they could fully enter, Levi cut them.
"I am not eating here; take mine to the other room."
"As you wish, sir," one of the maids said, pulling the trolley back in a precise manner.
Levi turned to Ruby. As if speaking mentally, she handed the bunch of keys to him. He nodded at her before walking out of the room with composed steps.
He opened the room opposite it, a direct replica of the one he had just come out of.
The maid followed him in, arranging all the food on the table neatly, before going out of the room.
Levi sighed gently before deploying a sound cancellation barrier around the room. After that, he proceeded to cover all parts of the room with nanotes. The walls, the ceiling, the corners, the wardrobe. Nothing was left out, even the table his food was placed on.
’I can’t have anyone spying,’ he thought.
He was in an unfamiliar territory, a place that bred the leader of the Eclipsed Order, and a place that is said to have an Eclipsed Order base. He could not afford to be careless.
His clone appeared shortly after, his demeanour regal, and expression serene.
"I don’t know if she misled you intentionally, or if she just didn’t know, but her intel was not completely true." The clone explained, but Levi already knew what had happened there by synchronising the clone’s brain with his.
"I don’t think that’s possible since she did not expect me to have clones or aids in the first place," Levi said, but he did not completely see it as impossible.
In a world like this, it was very possible that there were people who could bypass his destiny veil.
"Don’t worry, I will monitor her very well from now on," Levi said to his clone, before sending him back to the endless dimension.
His eyes moved towards the delicacy he had kept waiting. If eyes could eat, he would have gobbled all the food in less than an instant.
Picking the spoon by the side of the tray, he began eating, slowly and gently, savouring every bite, revelling in every flavour. He was absorbed in the moment completely.
After 30 minutes of non-stop eating, he finally finished.
He picked a napkin from the tray and dabbed his mouth with it. He waited for a while, his mind replaying everything about the treant again, looking for anything that fell out of place.
’I am sure something else was in play there,’ Levi thought, dispelling all layers of security in his room.
The nanites flooded back into his body, and the sound barrier broke into fragments of mana.
He stood up and walked out, his destination set: Ruby’s room.
With a slight tap, the door swung open, revealing Ruby, who stood in front of it, standing there like she was the guard to the vault of a true god.
"How long does it take you to eat?" She asked. "I finished eating like 10 minutes ago. I was only waiting for you."
Levi looked at her like she was a weirdo. While other girls were trying to make it seem like they don’t eat much, or eat slowly, she was flaunting her eating speed with pride.
’An odd person indeed,’ he thought.
"I was also done, I only waited so I wouldn’t disturb you while you were eating, I never knew you were this fast," Levi said in a teasing tone.
"Say whatever you want, let’s just go downstairs," she said. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
"After you," Levi gestured to his front, making Ruby leave before him.
He stepped out with her.
As they reached the stairs, a thought surfaced in Levi’s mind. ’How were they able to bring the trolleys up?’ He wondered in mild surprise.
The noise that was coming from the lower floor had died down, which made them furrow their brows.
"Where did those adventurers go?" Ruby asked Beatrice directly.
Beatrice looked at her with a grim face. "Apparently, the treants were stirred by some unknown beings, and a monster tide has started. The adventurers went to assist at the main gate," she explained.
At her word, Ruby’s face paled as he remembered the treants they had disturbed just moments ago. ’This is definitely our fault,’ she thought.
But things were different in Levi’s mind. He knew his clone and servants killed the treants they disturbed, so this was a different one.
