Chapter 996: Chapter 996: I Hope You Escape Misery Soon

Alice Turner casually kicked her leg as she spoke, wanting her mom and sister to know that she’s not someone who can be easily bullied.

"My sister is awesome!"

Lily Turner gave Alice a thumbs up. She had always been envious of her sister for learning Taekwondo and regretted not practicing with her when they were younger. If she had, she could have dealt with bullies using force too.

Seeing that her sister and mom no longer doubted her, Alice finally felt relieved. She laughed and patted Lily, who called her awesome, "Awesome? Do you think I’m a guy?"

Calling herself a guy wasn’t entirely a joke; she really had a masculine side.

"My sister isn’t a guy; she’s a heroine, the kind that upholds justice." Lily said half-jokingly, but she was actually serious. If it were ancient times, her sister would truly be a heroine of justice.

Alice was very pleased with this description, smiling brightly, "I love hearing that."

After joking around for a while, the two sisters sat on the bed with Sophia Wood. Once seated, Sophia spoke first, "Alice! Are you really going to divorce Benjamin?"

Though she had asked on the phone, she wanted to confirm in person. Divorce is indeed a big deal, and she couldn’t be vague about it.

"Mom! How did you know my sister was going to divorce that man?!" Before Alice could respond, Lily reacted in surprise at Sophia’s question.

"I told Mom." Alice shifted her gaze to Sophia, "We are definitely getting a divorce."

Their divorce was inevitable; it was just hard to pin down the timing.

Sophia nodded, but thinking about Christopher Turner, Alexander Shaw, and Isla Lane made her sigh, "When do you plan to tell your dad and his parents?"

Divorce is a significant matter that can’t be kept from the family’s elders forever. She was truly worried about how they would react.

"We’ll tell them after it’s done."

From the beginning, Alice intended to act first and report later. During the forced marriage, she realized that neither of their parents were reasonable. They rushed the two into marriage first, so she didn’t feel the need to be courteous—divorce first, then tell them.

But why wasn’t that man cooperating with her? They had agreed on the divorce, yet he was now making excuses, all because she was late yesterday?

Hadn’t she already explained it to him? She didn’t mean to be late; an accident happened which made her late. He saw her injured hand as well.

Sophia understood the concerns in Alice’s mind. She shared those concerns too and agreed with Alice’s approach, "I can only silently support you now. If anything happens, your mom will not just stand by."

She showed her support to her eldest daughter, deciding to back her from this moment on.

"Mom! You’re the best. I knew you’d support me." Alice reached out to hug Sophia, expressing her gratitude for Sophia’s support.

Seeing this, Lily also voiced her support, "Sister! I support you too, always. I hope you escape your troubles soon and find your own happiness. You will meet a man who truly appreciates and treasures you."
