Thomas Fisher locked the door and returned to bed. He immediately picked up the phone on his pillow, but Alice Turner was nowhere to be seen. The video chat was still on, yet she was missing.

"Alice! Alice! Alice!"

Facing the phone, Thomas called out Alice’s name three times, each time louder than the last.

At that moment, Alice was lying on the sofa, lost in thought. Hearing Thomas calling her, she quickly snapped out of her reverie and grabbed the phone next to her head, "Finished with your stuff?"

She had been thinking about her own things and hadn’t listened to the conversation between the mother and son on the other end. She had no idea what had just happened.

"My mom was looking for me just now. She asked who I was talking to." Thomas hadn’t bothered to shield Alice from the conversation earlier and had casually left the phone on his pillow. He didn’t know what she might have overheard or how much she knew.

Upon hearing this, Alice quickly sat up on the sofa, "Your mom heard us talking?"

How could his mom hear them chatting? Wasn’t he in his room? Did he have his door unlocked?

"Yeah, my mom asked who you were, and I told her you’re her future daughter-in-law." Although Thomas didn’t use the exact words he’d said, it carried the same meaning. As he spoke, he was diligently watching her reaction, eyes fixed on her without blinking.

Future daughter-in-law?!

What does he mean by saying this now? Is he testing her feelings?

Thinking of her current predicament, Alice sighed once again, "Once your mom knows about my situation, she definitely won’t agree to us being together."

Let alone a daughter-in-law; whether she’ll allow them to date is another matter.

Thomas turned his head to expose the side of his face, inviting Alice on the other end of the phone to hit him. As long as she didn’t leave him, she could hit him however she pleased, and he promised to willingly be her punching bag.

Alice was just saying it casually and didn’t intend to actually hit Thomas. Seeing him turn his face for her to hit, she felt both frustrated and amused, "Do you think I’m a violent maniac? You’re so annoying, I’m done with you, I’m going to bed. You stay there acting crazy on your own."

After finishing her words, she turned off the video. Then, she stood up with the phone and went back to her room.
