Chapter 974: Chapter 974: The Woman You’re Looking For Isn’t Here

"Wait for me a moment."

Thomas Fisher said to Alice Turner on the phone, then placed the phone on the pillow and got out of bed to open the door.

"Mom! It’s so late, do you need something?" After opening the door and seeing it was his mom, he stood at the door, clearly not intending to let her in.

Autumn York pushed past Thomas Fisher standing at the doorway and strutted in without any concern for the owner’s agreement, boldly marching inside without saying a word.

Seeing this, Thomas Fisher immediately followed, "Mom! What are you investigating?"

He looked at his mom with a puzzled expression.

"You brat! You seem afraid of me coming in. What were you doing in here? Hiding someone?" Autumn York glanced at Thomas Fisher following her, turned her head, and surveyed the entire room. She finally headed toward the bathroom.

When she opened the bathroom door, she didn’t find the woman she imagined. Not giving up, she marched to the closet, opened the sliding doors, searched through it, but she still found nothing.

Seeing his mom rummaging through everything to find someone, Thomas Fisher rubbed his forehead in frustration, "Mom! There’s no woman you’re looking for here."

His mom did these sudden raids every now and then, making him seem like someone with a very messy private life.

"Then who were you talking to just now?"

Autumn York came upstairs planning a surprise, and when she reached Thomas Fisher’s door, she didn’t knock right away but instead eavesdropped at the crack to hear any sounds, and surely, she heard talking inside.

She heard her son speaking to someone, his tone unusually gentle and happy, it was the first time she heard him talk to someone like this, clearly very happy.

Upon hearing this, Thomas Fisher’s brows furrowed instantly, "Mom! Were you eavesdropping at my door again?"

His mom eavesdropping wasn’t a one or two-time thing; just the ones he knew of were over a dozen times, who knows how many times she did it without him knowing.

"Eavesdropping? That sounds awful. How can listening to noises from my son’s room be called eavesdropping?" Autumn York knew full well she was eavesdropping, but she wouldn’t admit it, not a chance.

Thomas Fisher rubbed his aching head, "Mom! How am I supposed to bring a girlfriend home at this rate?"

Images of marrying Alice Turner suddenly popped into his head, the two being affectionate in the room, while his mom was outside eavesdropping — just the thought sent shivers down his spine.

"Son! Do you have someone in mind?" Autumn York completely ignored Thomas Fisher’s complaint, grasped him, and asked excitedly.

Seeing his mom so excited, Thomas Fisher’s frown deepened, "Mom! Are you afraid I’ll bring someone back without you knowing, which is why you keep doing these surprise raids?"

Judging by his mom’s current attitude, this seemed to be the case. How could she have such an idea?

If he were to bring someone home, it’d be openly, not secretly. He wasn’t having some underground romance.

"I asked you first, and you haven’t answered me, do you have someone in mind? By the looks of it, you do. What does the girl do? Is she pretty?" Autumn York didn’t answer Thomas Fisher’s question but pressed on, her intuition told her he had someone, not just anyone casually.
