Raising A Few Wives in a Beast Apocalypse-Chapter 96: Poorly hidden jealousy
In the lounge...
Everyone but Hope was already waiting. Most were feeling a bit awkward but they sucked it up. Since Muku was up, they’d be addressing their next step, and nobody wanted to miss it.
"Hello everyone, I’m glad you all decided to show up" Muku spoke while walking down the stairs, a smile plastered on his face. He seemed a lot better already, just that he seemed to be having trouble with his eyes.
"What’s wrong with your eyes?" Jade asked, she had long calmed herself down after leaving the room. Her expression right then made everyone think this wasn’t the same Jade who left the room due to embarrassment. She looked so natural. But they couldn’t help but admire how she could easily get a hold of herself while they were still having trouble.

"Oh that, that’s part of one of the things I’d like to address, actually", Muku replied with a little smile as he took a seat on a lone sofa.
"But first, let me congratulate you all for reaching Rank Two and leaving me in the dust. Truly, the student always surpasses the master," Muku spoke emotionally while wiping away some fake tears. Which made Jade roll her eyes and then smile smugly while the others either giggled a bit or broke into a little smile.
"I always knew one day I’d be stronger than you, now kowtow three times and maybe I’ll take you under my wing as an attendant despite your weak strength" Jade is someone you should never give an inch or she’ll take a mile, immediately spoke some words that made Muku’s hand itch.
"Are you sure?" Muku spoke with a little smile on his face while looking in Jade’s direction. His eyes glowed with a grey light.
Jade wanted to arrogantly reply, but then she noticed his eyes; she immediately felt a crisis in her life stronger than anything she had felt before. That’s when she noticed that Muku wasn’t looking directly at her but beside her. She subconsciously also looked where he was looking and was immediately appalled. A cup of water she had placed on a little table beside her was disappearing before her eyes!
Only a third of it was left. The water she hadn’t drank yet was disappearing along with the cup. It didn’t spill over the table despite a large part of the cup already having gone, like there was an invisible barrier stopping it, or laws had been twisted into making it seem like it only made sense that the water wouldn’t spill.
She immediately remembered the Crow, it was also like this. She wasn’t the only one looking at the cup at this point. The others were also looking on, speechless and a bit unsettled, what kind of power is this!?. Unlike last time, there wasn’t even a pressure to notify them that something was going on. Within five seconds, the cup and its water were gone, completely erased from existence, and returned to nothingness.
"Well?" Muku’s voice sounded again, breaking the others out of their stupor.
"N-no, of course not, it was just a joke; you’ll eternally be my stronger, kind and forgiving teacher who doesn’t take revenge for little things like my jokes", Jade nervously replied while sweating a bit. Internally, she was beating herself up; why did she have to blubber so much when she had already told herself not to ever do it again? Hadn’t she learned her lesson that he’ll always have some bug ability to use to suppress her!?
"Good! And you’re right, I’d never get angry at my idiot student who’s always seeking death" Muku replied with a smile while closing his eyes.
"Seems I’ll need some time to get used to that" He spoke out loud while keeping his eyes closed. It seemed the ability took a lot out of him.
"Care to explain?" Layla asked, full of curiosity. She could sense that the ability didn’t use Mana or Beast Aura. Well, she couldn’t sense anything, just that, be it Mana or Beast, when used, they can easily be sensed by even the weakest Rank One if they are close enough. But for them, Rank Twos to not sense anything while being so close was surprising and quite eery. If it wasn’t Muku who used the ability or someone from her group who did it, she’d have long escaped the scene through her shadow element.
"Yeah, that’s a bloodline ability I realised I could use after waking up. Just that my eyes still haven’t stabilised after being enhanced by my bloodline. And using the ability seems to take quite a toll on them. Likely because I’m still too weak," Muku immediately explained; it was one of the things he wanted to address anyway.
"Your body won’t start breaking down like last time, right?" Chloe asked with some worry in her voice. She’d read a few novels where people literally died because of their overwhelming power, so she couldn’t help but worry. So much so that she broke her usually quiet and shy character when it comes to Muku.
"That’s the best part; unlike last time, where 1% of my bloodline wanted to awaken, this time I only got 0.01%. So if it all goes according to plan I should be fine. And my eyes should stop hurting after I reach Rank Two" Muku replied with a reassuring tone. He was mostly just telling what he was notified by the IA.
"That’s good...that reminds me, here" Chloe spoke while getting up and walking over to hand him a mobile phone. Muku opened his eyes a bit as she walked over.
"There’s a video on it that might be helpful to you in realising more potential. You can look at it after the meeting." She explained before he could ask.
"Oh, okay. Thank you" Muku said with a smile while raising his head. As if knowing what he wanted to do, Chloe lowered her head a bit. Then Muku patted her head. She smiled happily; finally, she’d gotten what only Hope had been getting until that point. The two quickly got lost in the moment.
"Cough cough", Jade fake coughed from the side, which startled Chloe and made her realise what she was doing. She immediately ran back to her seat and covered her face with a pillow in embarrassment.
"What an absurd bloodline of such an ability only takes up 0.01% of it, and 1% almost killed you", Completely ignoring what just happened, Emily commented. Well, it would seem like she ignored it if one of her eyes wasn’t twitching and the smile on her face looked forced. She also wanted head pats!
"Cough, yeah. I guess it can be said I was both lucky and unlucky, huh?" Muku replied with an awkward smile on his face, trying to ignore Emily’s poorly hidden jealousy. To think his head pats would cause such a thing. He’d even noticed that Jade’s expression had gotten a bit dark while Layla seemed a bit colder. But since it was already done, he could only ignore it all.
"I think that’s enough about my bloodline for now. The immediate issue we need to deal with is looking for an unranked beast for little Elsa, along with some Rank Two beasts to kill and get stronger. It should be relatively safe now with so many Rank Twos, unlike when it was just Audrey" Not wanting to linger on the topic any longer, Muku quickly moved on to the next matter to be addressed. He just wanted to quickly end the awkward atmosphere.
Unbeknownst to him, Elsa’s impression of him improved a little bit when he put her on the agenda. Before this, she just thought of him as her sister’s strong, perverted teacher. Now she thought of him as her sister’s strong and considerate pervert teacher. Which is a major improvement really...well it’s better than nothing.
"That’s nice and all, but what about you? You haven’t reached Rank Two yet. Not to mention I can sense that you haven’t fully recovered," Jade spoke, unknowingly to her; she was indirectly rejecting the plan that seemingly leaves Muku out of the mix. Though already aware of her tsundere personality, no one was surprised.
"Aww, little Jade is worried about me being left behind, so cute! Come here so I can pinch your little cheeks" As always, Muku won’t miss a chance to tease Jade. Hearing his words Jade’s face reddened in anger. How dare he call her little!?
"Keep talking and I’ll fight you to death" After calming herself a bit, she managed to squeeze those words out of her mouth while giving Muku a threatening look. She even displayed her canine teeth, seemingly ready to bite as well if it got to a fight.
"Fine, fine I’ll stop. But seriously, you don’t need to be worried. I should be fully recovered in a few more days and will reach Rank Two within that time as well" Muku stopped teasing Jade and spoke with confidence about breaking through in a few days.
"How are you so sure?" Jade asked, curious about why he seemed so certain when he had been stuck for so long, and wasn’t even at the true peak of the Half-step R2 stage.
"Just a hunch" Muku replied with the same confidence from before. As he said, he really felt like he’d break through. After all, he had Author-san on his side, and they’d make it work somehow...
