Raised From The Wild-Chapter 385: Boundless As The Sky
"Princess, we have encountered difficulties in creating the immune booster," Doctor Wallace was panting as he approached the group.
"Hmm. Let me see..."
Amaya followed the doctor to the back of the spacious room, where they reached a partitioned glass wall that separated the laboratory from the rest of the area. After putting on her protective lab coat, she entered the lab through the glass sliding door.
After spending more than two hours in the laboratory, she finally emerged, with Doctor Wallace smiling as he followed closely behind.
"Princess, you are a genius. To think that you are still in your college. By the way, what course are you taking?" Doctor Wallace looked at Amaya with twinkling eyes like he wanted to poach her and take her under his wings right then.
"I am taking up Biological Science, with Bioengineering as my major and Medicine as my minor," Princess Amaya said nonchalantly.
Doctor Wallace stopped in his tracks. He looked at Princess Amaya like she was an alien.
’Does a small country like Lireya have those courses?’
...
In the North Island of Usturia, the governor’s head and face were entirely concealed by protective gear. If someone were to remove the gear, they would witness that the Governor has aged more than ten years.
He was one of the youngest governors, at just forty years old, yet deep lines were etched on his forehead, and there were noticeable silver streaks on his blonde hair. The gray hairs seemed to appear overnight.
The best doctors at the number one hospital in North Island could not do anything at all. They could only delay the impending death of his wife, his eldest son, and his daughter by using the anti-viral drug from Uropa.
"Governor, I am sorry. The anti-viral drugs no longer worked. The virus mutated and is causing the platelet to drop. We can only continue to infuse blood to them."
"Is that the best you can do? You are all useless. Can’t you find a cure? If my family dies, then be prepared to be buried with them." The Governor, with bloodshot eyes, roared.
"Governor, you know that we are trying..."
"Then try harder," he shouted in a panicked voice.
The hospital director paled under his facial mask. He dare not say anything.
Governor Dixon was in agony. If he had only headed the advice from General Jones to quarantine those who came from Uropa, then he should not have endangered his entire family.
He was in an emergency meeting with the central government when his son arrived on a chartered plane after he was released from Crystal Hotel. His wife and daughter met him at the airport. They went home, where there was a welcome party for his son.
It was a Thanksgiving party to welcome him home safely and a celebration of his winning the fencing competition during the Battle of the Titans.
He never envisioned that it was the beginning of the hellish journey for the Dixon family.
"Director, there is an urgent call for you from Nower Institute," a female assistant hurriedly passed the phone to the director.
Governor Dixon was pulled from his daze as he shifted his gaze at the director.
The hospital director breathed a deep sigh of relief as his assistant’s interruption became a saving grace for him.
He eagerly grasped the cell phone and brought it to his ear. With rapt attention, he listened intently to Doctor Peterson’s words on the other end of the line. His eyes sparkled with hope as the doctor conveyed the news of a cure for the disease caused by the mutated virus.
"Governor, the Nower Research Institute has developed a drug to cure your family. The Crown Prince Of Albanya has the same symptoms as your son, but he is now fully recovered." the hospital director happily shared the good news with the Governor.
"It seemed that there were people who escaped the Crystal Hotel hostage incident, and the Crown Prince of Albanya was one of them. Unfortunately, they were also infected by the virus, but fortunately, people from the Alliance of the Four Continents got them first and brought them to the Research Institute." He continued narrating.
The governor’s tense body finally eased, and he sighed deeply. Finally, a glimmer of hope appeared before him.
"When will the drugs arrive?"
"They will be here in two hours, Gov." The hospital director breathed in relief, but when he saw the head of the Infectious Diseases Department rush toward them, his heart jumped into his throat.
"Director," the male doctor, who looked to be in his early thirties, said while panting. "After following your instructions, we gave the immune booster from Skylar Pharmaceuticals to two of the Governor’s guards. There were no adverse reactions, so we also gave it to the Governor’s two younger sons. Their conditions have improved, and they have woken up."
The hospital director relaxed when he heard the good news. He glanced at the Governor."
"Lireya has dispatched shipments of immune boosters to Skylar Pharmaceuticals in the Capital Of Usturia. According to them, as long as the virus has not mutated and has not caused a decrease in the platelet count, the immune booster should be effective in suppressing the Octa virus in the body and stimulating the production of antibodies to combat the virus."
The director paused before adding, "You can visit your two younger sons, Governor."
The weariness visibly lifted from the Governor’s face as a sense of relief replaced the fear that had gripped him. He couldn’t bear the thought of his wife and four children included as one of the fatalities of the devastating pandemic brought about by the Octa virus.
"Lireya? Isn’t it just a small country in Aeseana? How could they produce such a powerful drug?" the Governor asked, curious.
"The First Princess of Lireya, Amaya Rocas, owns the majority of the shares of the biopharmaceutical company. It was said that she discovered the plant used as the main component of the immune booster."
He gestured to his secretary, " Stop procuring the anti-viral drug from Uropa and get it from Skylar Pharmaceutical. Also, prepare to send gifts to the Government of Lireya as a token of appreciation for the immune booster."
"Governor, the Princess of Lireya also has something to do with the drug to counter the mutated virus. Somehow, she has immunity to the virus."
"Then, when the travel ban is lifted, we should go visit Lireya to thank her personally."
