Chapter 295: A Science Fiction?

"While only the three provinces are impacted by the attacks, all provinces should contribute money and human resources to look into this incident." Governor Peterson paused and studied the reactions of the other governors.

"The Alliance has shared an intel that a similar incident happened in Chaneya and Uropa. Before this, a disturbing report came from Ra-iya and Lireya."

"A chip was discovered inside a pack of wolves that attacked mountaineers in one of the jungles in Lireya. The Lireyan government tried to downplay the incident but nothing can escape the eyes of the Alliance." The supreme governor continued with his monologue.

Everyone paid attention when the screen behind Governor Peterson lit. It showed photos and video clips of the gruesome deaths of mercenaries, mountaineers, and scientists at various times and places. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

The governors who were sitting gasped and were horrified by the photos.

"Don’t tell me those are real? Aren’t they just a clip from a sci-fi movie?" The governor of Province 3 was full of doubt when he asked.

"It looked realistic though. The director must be exceptional to direct such a scary scene. I had goosebumps just hearing the roar." Another governor interjected.

Governor Peterson patiently listened to the murmurs from the crowd. After five minutes, he cleared his throat to attract everyone’s attention.

"What you had seen earlier was real. The location where it happened is classified. We don’t have evidence that what happened in the three provinces of Usturia is the same as in the photos. I hope that we are wrong. But if we are not, then we should get into the root cause of this problem."

A whisper was heard from the audience. It grew into a subdued conversation between a few people, then suddenly there was chaos in the conference room as each governor wanted to speak their mind.

...

Back at Lireya, Fiona frowned when her daddy ignored her messages. She remembered that it was daytime in Usturia so her father might be attending a meeting. She continued to look gloomily at her cell phone when her assistant gently pulled the sleeve of her dress to catch her attention.

"Miss Fiona, it is getting late. We should go back to the hotel. You still have a photo shoot in the morning. It might not look good if you have dark circles under your eyes."

Fiona reluctantly gathered her purse and looked at Marx pitifully but Marx had eyes only for Amaya.

Fiona’s pupils constricted. Her gaze darted briefly on Amaya before resting on Marx’s profile.

Before she could utter the words at the tip of her tongue, the Student Council president together with Nathalia and Stephane, hurried to their table.

"Mis Miley, we prepared a car for you. We will send you back to the hotel."

Fiona just glanced at them.

"Marx, can you send me back?" She asked in a sweet gentle voice.

Amaya cast her a glance.

"I do not have a car. I hitch a ride with the Princess." Marx rejected her outright.

Dave sneered. He didn’t know that Marx could lie with a straight face.

Fiona’s face turned ugly momentarily but she recovered fast and a bright smile blossomed on her fair face.

"Never mind. I will be staying here for some time. I hope you and the Princess can tour me around the capital in the next few days."

Fiona turned to Amaya with an expectant look.

Amaya was put in a difficult position. She has a lot of things to do and she doesn’t have time to accompany the golden diva.

"Princess Amaya is busy, Fiona. Do not impose on her. I can accompany you tomorrow if you have time." Marx said coldly.

Stephane and the Council President were uncomfortable. Riyanah Miley was invited by them, after all.

"It is settled then. My photo shoot will finish at 11:00 am." Fiona said happily.

"I have time tomorrow, Marx. Julienne and I can come with you. We can bring Miss Miley to the Blue Lagoon for lunch."

Fiona glared at Amaya. ’Why would she tag along?’

"Princess, I know that you are very busy. As Marx, I don’t want to impose on you." Fiona tried hard to speak normally and not let anger show in her voice.

"As I said, I have time tomorrow Miss Miley. Unless you don’t welcome my company." Amaya sounded so innocent.

Julienne gave Amaya a thumbs up silently.

Marx checked his watch. His brows furrowed and impatience was etched on his handsome face.

Fiona noticed that he was getting impatient so she hurriedly bid them goodbye and followed Stephane and company to the pick-up area of the hotel.

While waiting for their car, an inconspicuous black car stopped in front of Marx and Amaya. Marx did not wait for the driver to come down but opened the door and held it until Amaya settled on the seat. He then walked around and entered from the other side of the car.

Fiona witnessed Marx’s actions and the anger she felt started gnawing at her heart. She hated Amaya for taking away the man she wanted to be her husband. Even if she was a princess, she still grew up uncivilized in a jungle. How could she be worthy of Marx Skylar?

"Miss Miley, the car is here." The Student Council president, repeated for the third time. Stephane also noticed that she was starting at the car in front of them. His gaze narrowed.

’Why is Riyanah’s gaze so focused on that car? It looked very ordinary.’ Stephane pondered. ’Did I miss something?’

He was answering an email when the car arrived so he did not see Amaya and Marx enter the ordinary car.

The Student Council president opened the car door for her, then he entered the passenger seat and buckled his seat belt. Stephane did not have any choice but to walk around the car and enter the back passenger door.

Nathalia did not like the idea of her sending back the arrogant Miss Miley so she called her driver and left the moment her ride arrived.

...

Meanwhile, inside the black inconspicuous car, Amaya was sitting in the driver’s seat. Initially, Marx wanted to object but he restrained himself. Amaya has become an expert in driving.

The moment, Amaya voiced her intention to drive, Julienne became excited while Dave turned pale. Dave wanted to get off and take the bodyguard’s car but Amaya had already accelerated.

They were approaching an intersection, when the car suddenly jerked to the right.

"Aaaahhhh!" Dave screamed.
