Raised From The Wild-Chapter 266: The Princess is In Danger
"You are being too harsh to your cousin, Princess Amaya." A dignified voice came from the door. "You are older than her. You should be more tolerant."
Amaya turned around and saw that it was the Princess Consort, her Aunt Nelida.
"Greetings, Your Highness!" everyone greeted the Princess Nelida.
"Mother, you are here!" Danella skipped to her mother happily.
"I am here to watch you children with your practice. There will be an important banquet in the next two weeks. Camilla and Riyana should be dancing and you Danella should play the violin... "
"Spirit, come back here." Yohan was shouting outside, then he froze when he saw where the pup was heading.
The young wolf was agitated. He was growling as he was running to attack the Princess Consort.
"Spirit, No!" Yohan ran as fast as he could. But he was still a child after all. It was impossible for him to outrun the wolf.
He cried at the same time that Spirit lunged toward the door where Princess Consort Nelida was standing proudly.
Amaya growled, then screams filled the training room.
Just when the pup was a few centimeters from Nelida’s leg, he stopped and whimpered. It lowered its tail and walked slowly toward Amaya looking guilty as if it had done something wrong.
Amaya bent down and patted the pup. "Good boy!"
Princess Consort Nelida who turned pale from fright recovered and shouted. "Guards, kill that damned wolf and threw the body away."
Prince Yohan ran past the Princess Consort to where Spirit was. He cradled him in his arms and wailed.
"No! You can’t kill Spirit. Spirit is a good wolf." Yohan said through his tears. He did not understand why Spirit wanted to attack the Princess Consort. He was very docile and not aggressive.
Two guards appeared and entered the door. They went to where Yohan was and wanted to take the wolf from him but Yohan would not let go.
Poor Spirit. Yohan was hugging him tightly and he was in pain.
"Aunt Nelida, Spririt is a docile dog. He will not attack if not provoked." Aamaya tried to mediate to save the wolf.
"Are you blind? Didn’t you see that he attacked me? would you rather wait before someone is injured before taking action?" Nelida flared up.
"It is because you have a scent on you that the wolf hated."
"What do you mean by that?" Nelida was confused.
"Aunt Nelida, the perfume you are wearing has a scent that makes wolves and dogs go crazy. It is very subtle, but it is there." Amaya explained.
Nelida’s eyes darkened. "What nonsense are you talking about? Are you insulting me, Amaya?" Nelida was very angry. Her friend gifted her that perfume and she liked the scent.
"Your smell is very good, Mother," Danella acted cutely as she sniffed her mother’s shoulder.
Amaya hesitated. She did not know how to explain it.
"Why are you still standing there? Get rid of that stupid animal!" Nelida barked at the two guards.
Yohan wailed.
"Mo..mother, I promise not to let Spirit cross your path," Yohan said between sobs. He looked so pitiful that the guards were very careful in trying to pry the young wolf from him.
"Mother, Spirit is our pet. He likes me and even Danella. Please don’t kill it. There must be a reason why it attacked you." Donello who was still wearing his equestrian clothing pleaded with his mother.
Amaya let out a sigh of relief. Donello was an angel. She had thought of taking away Spirit and raising him at her palace, but Donello could persuade Princess Consort Nelida to keep the wolf.
"Okay, I will let this slide today, but there will be no next time." Princess Nelida reluctantly turned around to leave.
The moment the Princess Consort disappeared, Yohan stopped crying.
Amaya approached Donello who seemed rooted to the ground at the door. "That was great of you to persuade your mother about Spirit." She gave her brother a pat on his shoulder.
"Spirit is my pet too." Donello declared.
When he heard his name being mentioned, Spirit jumped from Yohan’s arms and ran toward Donello. Then it looked up to his master. His tongue sticking out of his mouth and his adorable eyes looking at Donello.
The young lad laughed heartily then he threw a frisbee a few meters away from him. Spirit ran happily as he followed the plastic toy and then he brought it back with his mouth.
"Good boy!" Donello patted the pup.
"Since everyone is here, let us come visit, Grandma. I am pretty sure she will be happy to see all her grandchildren. Let us take her out into the garden.
Danella wanted to refuse but her twin brother glared at her.
The six Rocas grandchildren crossed the palace grounds looking harmonious. Then they entered the Queen’s chamber.
Crown Prince Ibarra, who was standing on the balcony of his study had a contented smile on his face. It was very rare for him to see his children look so confident and happy.
"Marx Skylar is requesting for an audience, Your Highness." a guard informed him.
"Let him in." He finally walked away from the balcony because the children could no longer be seen.
"Greetings, Your Highness." Marx greeted him politely.
"Take a seat, Marx. Also, no need for formalities if there are only the two of us.
"Your Highness, I would like to share my understanding of your daughter in the past few days that I acted as the Princess’ guard."
Crown Prince Ibarra frowned. "Go ahead. Spill it."
"Princess Amaya is in danger and her security detail is not sufficient to keep her safe," Marx said casually.
Prince Ibarra’s gaze on Marx darkened. The tone of his voice was nonchalant but the crown prince felt that he was slapped hard across his face. Does this overbearing CEO think that he the future King of Lireya could not protect his daughter? How dare he underestimate me?
Marx met the crown prince’s penetrating gaze. He could predict what was on his mind.
"Princess Amaya is extraordinary, Your Highness. She also has a special ability that she unfortunately exposed to the world. On top of that, she is a beauty. Did you know that someone schemed against her at the Colleseum in Ra-iya?"
"We heard about that, young man." King Duncan entered from a door behind Prince Ibarra. The door blended well with the wall. Even Marx who was very observant did not notice it. That door must be connected to the King’s study.
"One of the guards shared the video with us and I learned that it was you who won the reward money." King Duncan looked at him from head to toe.
"You are already so rich. What are you going to do with the money?"
"Amaya promised Zanzara that she would build an orphanage. I have donated my winnings to Amaya."
"That’s good!" King Duncan grinned. He found Marx more and more handsome.
"Going back to what you were previously saying to my son, can you repeat that again?"
Marx hesitated. He shot a look to Prince Ibarra but the crown prince has no intention of saying anything.
"Princess Amaya will be in danger sooner or later. I am just sharing with the crown prince that I think Amaya’s security detail is not enough to protect her." Marx summarizes his previous words for King Duncan.
The wisened king looked thoughtful.
"You are right. Amaya is so beautiful. A lot of men would covet her. We should protect her from those lecherous men." The king said proudly.
Marx : "..."
Ibarra: "..."
Prince Ibarra cannot believe that the father whom he was so proud of would one day speak words without sense. Was it because he doted so much on Amaya that his current thinking process has gone haywire?
"Father, I think that is not what Marx was saying. There might be people who would use Amaya in their political agenda and harm her." Prince Ibarra tried to explain.
"Of course, I know that. Secretly assign a few more elite guards to her. They should not in any way interfere with her day-to-day activities unless her life or her security is being threatened." The king’s gaze fell on Marx. They looked gentle just like when his grandfather looked at him.
"By the way, I would like to sincerely thank you for saving my granddaughter. You saved her once in the colesseum and then you saved her then you saved her again in the mountain."
The King of Lireya wanted to bow before Marx but decided against it and just patted his shoulders with his hand.
"It is my duty to protect the princess, Your Majesty. Besides she is my girlfriend and I love her."
The father and son coughed at the same time.
"When did my daughter become your girlfriend? How come we did not know of it?" Prince Ibarra sounded furious.
"The day she turned eighteen, Your Highness."
"I do not approve of it."
