Raised From The Wild-Chapter 251: Escaping From the Damned Mountain
Vasquez was dumbfounded.
Marx took a double take at the figure before him.
Amaya’s eyes widened.
Before them, was a snake whose body was as thick as an adult male thigh. Its tail was coiled on the ground and it was not clear how long it was. Its human face which was the size of an adult palm was triangular in shape and had a pointed chin. Its eyes were narrow and slanted, showing a pair of pupils that constricted vertically. Its nose was straight and narrow.
The snake clicked its tongue and the trio caught a glimpse of a forked black mass of flesh.
"I was right after all. Your face is not worth seeing." Marx spoke in a loud voice which infuriated the human snake.
"How dare you!" it wriggled its body but hissed in pain. "What weapon did you put on your clothes? Why does it hurt so much? Boo hoohooo!" the human snake wailed. Her pupils narrowed into a vertical line against a backdrop of yellow iris.
Amaya was standing a few feet away and behind her was a big tree. She was checking the backpack that she placed on top of Artemis. She was glad that she took off the backpack earlier and placed it on the horseback because she was afraid that the injured cub would fall off. If she did not do that, then the little tiger would have been crushed by the snake. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
The human snake lifted her body as she continued to wail. Marx, Vasquez, and Amaya were watching her warily.
"You cruel human beings. You invade our territory and hurt us like this! You monsters!" The human snake acted like a shrew.
Amaya : "..."
Marx: "...’
Vasquez: "???"
’Who is the monster?’ Amaya thought.
Without warning, the human snake bared its fangs and attacked the princess.
"Aya, watch out!" Marx pulled the trigger of his gun. It hit the snake on its body. The bullet ricocheted.
Amaya dodged by jumping to the side. The snake’s fangs sank into the bark of the tree behind Amaya.
The snake froze. It could not extricate its fangs from the tree.
"Let’s hurry up," Marx said with urgency.
Amaya and Vasquez mounted their horses and were about to leave when a faint cry was heard. It was a child’s voice.
Amaya hurriedly got off the horse and followed the voice. Marx who was frowning followed behind. He was doubting if it was really a child or another monster.
Amaya tracked the sound. It was coming from under the branches and leaves that fell from the tree when the snake was writhing in pain earlier. Amaya lifted a leafy branch and she sucked in a deep breath when she saw what was underneath.
"Please save my brother." the young voice cracked like a frog.
Amaya was in a daze for a while. She had not seen eyes that were as beautiful as the one before her. She could only see the head because the body was pinned under a large branch.
Marx and Vasquez were worried. They guessed the princess’s intention but they really were running out of time.
"Aya, we need to go." Marx urged her.
"No. The kid is seriously injured. She will die if we leave her here."
"Princess, but she must not be an ordinary child. She must be a half human half animal" Vasquez butted in.
"Common, help me lift the branch." Amaya bent down and lifted the branch. Marx and Vasquez had no choice but to help her.
The moment the branch and the leaves were cleared, Vasquez let out a gasp.
"Shit! What the hell is this?"
"After all that you had seen, you are still surprised by this?" Marx sneered at Vasquez. He scanned the thing before them. The face was as lovely as a doll but the round body is that of a spider. It has also four human limbs and eight spider legs just like the human spider they encountered earlier.
The other human spider was badly injured. His face was on the ground so Amaya and the rest could not see what he looked like.
"Please save my brother!" Tears streamed from a pair of dark gray orbs. The face looked so pitiful that Amaya’s heart felt that it was being pinched.
"We will be leaving. Are you willing to come with us?" Amaya asked.
"Yes. For as long as you can save my brother..." The little spider doll passed out before she can complete here sentence.
Amaya took out the black piece of cloth from her backpack. She made an improvised baby carrier out of the cloth and placed the two spider babies in them.
"Aya, it will be difficult for us to take them." Marx hesitated before airing out his thoughts.
"Don’t worry, I’ll release them after treating their injuries." Amaya looked at the snake who was still stuck at the tree. It was struggling hard to free itself.
"Let us go. There is no time." Amaya mounted Artemis and the two men followed suit.
Marx led the three horses along the way. When their path was blocked by the vines and bushes, both Vasquez and Marx would get off the horse and clear the path. Amaya took the opportunity to use her herbs to treat the two spiders.
She wondered why their faces were different compared to their mother’s. They have a complete human face that looks otherworldly.
Darkness has descended in the jungle once again. It was only 5:00 p.m. Marx and Amaya looked at each other and she could see the worry in Marx’s eyes. Fortunately, they found the path that they took when they entered Mount Paraiso. It was actually not them, but the white horses that found the path.
"I think we are very near the foot of the mountain. I recognized this place." Amaya said, her eyes were twinkling.
Marx clamped his feet around Apollo’s body. The horse took the cue and hastened his steps. The two horses followed behind.
The canopy of the trees at the foot of the mountain was thinner. The rays of the late afternoon sun seeped through the leaves of the trees turning the forest into a beautiful backdrop for a painting.
However, it was very dark deep in the jungle as if night had already descended.
Suddenly, a creepy howl filled the entire mountain. It was like the sound of a mystical creature that mourned for the loss of its beloved mate.
Amaya shivered and the hair on her body stood on their end.
