Chapter 194: Painting on the Ceiling

Amaya was standing inside the big drawing room. The ceiling was very high and shaped like the inside of the dome. It must be the dome that she saw from the outside. At the center of the dome was a grand chandelier made from hundreds of crystals. Their paintings on the ceiling and depicted the history of Ra-Iya.

"I can see that you have shown on interest in those paintings, Princess."

Everyone in the room was drawn to the source of the enchanting voice including the Royal Guard who was standing close to Amaya.

"Greetings, Your Majesty." Everyone seemed to have a tacit understanding when they greeted the King of Ra-Iya all at the same time.

King Ralden approached Zanzara who stood from the couch. Zanzara bowed before her and she beamed when the King held her waist.

"It has been a long journey. Escort Lady Zanzara to her chamber. She needed to rest and prepare for this evening’s dinner."

Zanzara wanted to argue but it who can go against the command of the king? She looked at her sister Tatiana and together they followed the servant to the North Wing on the second floor. Zanzara, Tatiana and Shanaya brought their personal maids with them and a room was arranged for the maids.

Shanaya was also escorted to one of the rooms beside Zanzara’s. Only Amaya and a few guards were left in the drawing room.

King Ralden approached Amaya.

"The best spot to look at at the painting at the ceiling is here, Princess." The King pointed to a couch at on side of the room. "It is best to view it lying down."

Amaya walked toward the couch. She sat down and looked at the ceiling. A servant pressed a button at the side and the backrest of the couch moved and lowered down. King Ralden was right. The painting on the ceiling looked different when viewed from her current angle.

"Ten famous painters of Ra-iya did this piece of art. It took them six months to complete the painting." King Ralden took delight in his words.

Amaya studied the painting. It was divided into four sections. It depicted the king and his four sons and how the kingdom was split into four. There was also a painting about the fierce battle between Alabania and Ra-Iya and between Ra-Iya and Lupanya.

Amaya frowned. She did not know that there were such battles. The last section of the painting was abstract. It was too abstract that she could not understand it at all. It looked like it was total chaos but she figured out that in the chaotic painting, the majestic Malacan Palace stood out.

"Why is the style of that painting totally different from the rest?" Amaya asked without taking her eyes off the painting. The people in the room including the guard strained their neck to look at the painting.

"More than ninety percent of the people could not understand that painting, Princess. How about you, what do you see in the painting?" the mesmerizing voice made the royal guard to purse his lips.

"I see chaos, but in the chaos, the majestic Malacan Palace is depicted so clearly," Amaya said as if in a trance.

King Ralden’s eyes darkened. She was indeed smart. She understood the painting.

Amaya struggled to stand up. Two hands extended toward her. The left hand has a signet ring on the pinky finger while the right hand wore black gloves. Amaya took both hands and let go immediately once she was on her feet.

"Thank you, Your Majesty." She said politely. She did not thank the guard as it would be improper.

The king led her to a two-seater couch in one corner of the drawing room. A servant pour tea for both of them.

"I heard that you encountered a mishap right after you landed at the airstrip. I would like to apologize for that, Princess. I heard that you were scared?" King Raldedn said in his magnetic voice.

"Not scared, Your Majesty. I am not scared of blood as I have seen more brutal fights and gruesome deaths amongst wild animals. But it was a first for me to see humans kill each other."

King Ralden appeared surprised. "Don’t you watch movies, Princess? You should watch them and then you will understand the human heart a little bit more."

Amaya nodded. King Ralden observed her and noted that she was a bit tired. He nodded to the servant nearby.

"Escort the Princess to her chamber so she could rest and prepare for dinner." A servant approached Amaya and gestured for her to follow her.

Amaya politely thanked the king before she followed the servant. Two guards followed right after her. They followed the hallway and exited from the main building into a garden. Amaya’s eyebrows arched. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

"Where are you taking me? Aren’t we going to the upper floors?"

"Princess, your chamber is over there," the servant pointed to a villa behind a pavilion.

Amaya followed the servant and when she entered the villa, she found it to be very luxurious.

"The King noticed that you did not bring a servant with you so he is assigning you two servants. This is your room, Princess." The servant opened the door for her and Amaya went inside. The walls were painted blush pink and a queen size four poster bed with a white quilt lay on the middle of the room.

"Your clothes were already placed in the closet, Princess. If you need anything, you can ring the bell."

"How about my guards?" Amaya asked.

"They will occupy the two rooms opposite yours while the maid’s room is beside yours." The servant explained.

The servant excused herself and was about to leave when Amaya said. "Ask a servant to prepare my bath."

The servant nodded and a few minutes after she left, another servant who looked in her late teens appeared and prepared her bath.

"Princess, may I come in?" her guard knocked on the door. He wanted to check the room while there is still a servant around.

"Come!" Amaya invited him. She sat on a couch beside the sliding door that opened to the balcony while the guard examined the surroundings for bugs or cameras. The gloves he was wearing has a special scanner that could detect bugs or hidden cameras.

He entered the bathroom while making sure that the door was left open. When he came out, he has an ugly expression on his face.
