Raised From The Wild-Chapter 139: Why Are You Here?
"Look who is here? Don’t tell me you are really serious about participating in fencing. This is not like running or archery. Why don’t you backout now to save yourself from an embarrassing defeat?"
Samantha’s voice was so loud that it could be heard on the other side of the large room.
"Did you hear an annoying fly buzz around?" Julienne placed her four fingers on her forehead to shield her eyes and looked around. Amaya laughed at the animated action.
"He he he, you are so funny. I did hear a fly buzz just now." Amaya played with Julienne.
Samantha pursed her lips and clenched her fist. The two women in front of her were making a fool of her. She had wanted to befriend Amaya and use her to get close to the handsome Usturian business tycoon who looked like a Greek God that descended from heaven. Unfortunately, her jealousy of Amaya’s popularity and beauty got the better of her. She shed all pretenses and went back to bullying and shaming Amaya.
More people were pouring into the room. The athletes participating had also started arriving. Julienne and Amaya registered early so they were amongst the first batches to compete in the qualifying rounds.
Amaya put on her fencing gear and went to the piste. When she looked back she found Julienne preparing for her own match. Her gaze went past her to the tall man sitting on the bleacher and looking at her.
Amaya waved her hand to acknowledge him and Marx reluctantly waved back. She frowned when she saw Samantha and her lackeys, went to the bleacher, and shamelessly sat beside him.
The referee called out Amaya’s attention and she focused on the game. She tuned out anything else and just look out at her opponent in front of her. Amaya got a few warnings because it was her first time playing in a fencing tournament. When she played with her dad, there was not in a piste.
Fortunately, Amaya’s opponent was a novice in fencing. She defeated her easily as well as two more opponents.
Samantha who was sitting beside Marx was shocked to see that Amaya actually knew how to use the saber. She glanced at the man who was intently watching Amaya. She had attempted to strike up a conversation with him but he just gave her the cold shoulder.
She heard her name being called so she has no choice but to go. Before she left, she looked at Marx seductively and said, "Please wish me good luck!"
Marx looked at her briefly. "No! I want her to win, not you." He said sternly.
Samantha gave him an awkward smile and then she hurriedly left and headed to where the athletes were seated.
Amaya took off her gear and hurried to where Marx was. Marx has already stood up and walked toward the exit.
The princess who was heading to where he was previously seated, changed direction and followed him to the door.
Marx relaxed his steps until Amaya caught up with him.
"Why are you here?" Amaya asked.
"Can’t I be here? I want to watch my girlfriend’s swordsmanship." Marx stopped near the pillar in the hallway. He faced Amaya and looked at her from head to toe with a look of disapproval. She was wearing sports shorts that hugged her thighs and showed the shapely butt. Her shirt clung to her upper body like a second skin.
"What’s with the look?" Amaya blurted out.
"There are so many men who are drooling and ogling at you. I am unhappy." Marx was direct with his words. He did not hide his feelings from her.
Amaya looked at him with a blank expression. Wasn’t her clothes better compared to the other athletes she saw earlier?
"Wait here. I’ll put on the sweatpants." she hurried to a nearby restroom and wiggled into the sweatpants that Julienne had passed to her earlier. When she exited the restroom, Marx was waiting for her outside.
"Let us go back and watch Julienne."
"Julienne is already done and she said something has come up and she went ahead."
Amaya felt as if something was amiss but did not think too much about it.
"When did you learn to fence? You did good earlier but you can still improve."
"Daddy taught me. He said he was the champion when he was still in military school but it was different when it is a competition."
"How come, I did not see your saber when I was in the island?"
"I placed it under my bed. I even forgot to bring it."
"You joined a lot of competition? And you were only disqualified in one event? What a feat." Marx was looking at his cell phone and browsed the school’s website. "You have a lot of fans. Everyone is raving about you, especially the perfect score you got in archery."
Marx looked at Amaya seriously as they walked toward her locker.
"Next time, you should not show your full strength when it is still the qualifying round. Don’t give your opponent an opportunity to strategize against you."
Amaya tilted her head and looked at Marx. She was gazing at his side profile and she noticed how prominent his forehead and nose were. He has a perfect profile. He was handsome no matter which angle you looked at him.
"Stop looking at me and watch your step or you’ll trip." 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
Amaya was embarrassed. She retracted her gaze quickly and became silent. She realized that they arrived at the locker area.
"Seriously, why did you go here?" Amaya muttered as she bent down to open her locker.
"I had a meeting with the principal. We are collaborating on a project and we finalized some details. I will be coming over in the next few days."
Amaya entered the combination in her locker and opened it. She reached out to get her backpack but three slimy toads jumped out of her locker.
Amaya was startled that she straightened up and dodged. The toads jumped past her and straight into the few students who were closely following behind them.
