Rabbit Must Die-Chapter 330 - 327: Moon Palace Major Renovation_1
Qin Shou tilted his head, looking at Master Lu.
Master Lu said, "Heaven and earth are not benevolent; they regard all beings as straw dogs. In the face of the great path of heaven and earth, humans and all living beings are no different. Humans can kill countless chickens and ducks, exterminate a whole species just to fill their bellies or gain wealth without it being considered a sin; then naturally, others killing people or destroying cities is also not a sin. What the common folk call sin is merely defined by people themselves and not by the Heavenly Dao.
In the eyes of the Heavenly Dao, these acts are nothing out of the ordinary. If there is a Heavenly Dao, survival of the fittest might just be one of its principles."
Qin Shou exclaimed in surprise, "Master, if you were to say this out loud, you could easily get beaten to death."
Master Lu yawned and said, "Immortals aren’t as petty as you think. Everyone has their own path. If our paths align, we drink together; if not, we each go our own way. Whether it’s the Immortal Realm or the Earthly Immortal Realm, with such a vast world, there is no need to see each other again."
Qin Shou asked, "Master, after all this time, what exactly is a demon?"
Qin Shou was genuinely confused. In the novels he had read before, the demons were clearly defined as those who cultivated demonic powers, harmed others for their own benefit, or were bastards with twisted world views. But in this world, it seemed not to be the case.
Master Lu said, "Actually, there are demons in this world, and at the same time, there are none..."
Qin Shou was taken aback, "There are no demons? Then what are these demons?"
Just as Master Lu was about to say something, a streak of sword light tore through the sky, and with a clink, lodged itself in front of Master Lu. Carved on the three-foot-long green peak was a large character — Wen!
Master Lu did not seem surprised, not even lifting his head as he said, "You finished drinking so quickly?"
Wenqu Star Monarch descended from the sky and, without a word, sat on the other side of the rabbit. Between the two of them and the rabbit, it seemed as though a star river separated them... Yet what was even more strange was that, although they appeared so distant, their hearts did not seem far apart.
After a while, Wenqu Star Monarch said, "Rabbit, some things don’t need to be dug into. You have to allow each person their secrets. As long as that person means you no harm, why bother caring about the rest?"
For the first time, Master Lu nodded, not objecting. Instead, he tossed a bowl of wine to Wenqu, "Those words sound like they came from a scholar. Here’s to you."
Wenqu tilted his head back and drank it in one gulp, saying, "Say what needs to be said."
Master Lu nodded...
Upon seeing this, Qin Shou was speechless. These two who were just fighting tooth and nail were now so easily in agreement, keeping secrets from him? And they were doing it so blatantly, right in front of him, saying they wouldn’t tell him! Damn it... They really didn’t consider him an outsider.
"Alright, Rabbit, we’ll take the wine. You should head home too..." said Master Lu.
Helpless, Qin Shou shook his head and took out a Yellow Book, handing it to Master Lu, "I’ve finished reading the contents of this book. Here, I’m giving it back to you."
Master Lu nodded, rolled it up straight away, stuffed it into his sleeve, and waved his hand, "Off you go."
Qin Shou nodded, bid farewell to Master Lu and Wenqu Star Monarch, and turned to leave.
After Qin Shou had left.
Master Lu and Wenqu Star Monarch exchanged glances, and Wenqu Star Monarch frowned, asking, "Do you really plan to tell him?"
After a moment of silence, Master Lu replied, "He is our disciple, after all. It’s better to prevent him from suffering later on. Haven’t we suffered enough in our time?"
Wenqu Star Monarch shook his head, "It’s not the right time yet."
Master Lu said, "Then let’s wait a bit longer..."
As the days passed by, Qin Shou’s daily life gradually became more orderly.
Every morning, he would hurry to the Imperial Garden, cooking for the woman from White Bone Mountain, and of course, he used the Eight Trigrams Furnace. That was because Qin Shou had tried other pots, but the ingredients given by the woman simply wouldn’t soften up, no matter how refined they were!
At first, the Eight Trigrams Furnace would exclaim in surprise, "This is a hybrid White Tiger! This is a hybrid dragon! This is a descendant of the Qiongqi..."
But later on, even the Eight Trigrams Furnace got used to the woman’s generous offerings and simply kept quiet.
Of course, lately, there had been more people loitering outside the Imperial Garden, especially the God of Land from the Rare Birds Courtyard who would make a round every day, sniffing the air eagerly... If it weren’t for the orders of the Jade Emperor, he probably would have charged in already. Even so, every time he would stop Rabbit and ask, "What are you stewing in the Imperial Garden? Why does it smell so good?"
Without hesitation, Qin Shou would produce a potato and say, "Roasted potato."
The Rare Birds Courtyard’s God of Land: "..."
Whether it was the Imperial Garden or this temporary Daynight Wandering God, the Rare Birds Courtyard’s God of Land couldn’t afford to provoke either and had no choice but to hold his nose and accept it. He would go back and keep a close eye on the descendants of the White Tiger and the Dragon Clan to prevent them from being caught again...
After preparing breakfast, Qin Shou would follow Conghua, the little sapling, sprinkling seeds, while Insect Eight up above began to move clouds and make rain. If the weather turned a bit chilly, Jiucai the Fire Chicken would ignite flames and stay in the air for a while to warm the saplings... Thanks to the efforts of the four little ones, the flowers and trees in the Imperial Garden thrived, growing significantly taller each day. Conghua would happily shake its leaves non-stop, as if it had St. Vitus’ dance.
Qin Shou also discovered that the seeds shed by Conghua were not ordinary plants; even the most inferior were of yellow level! Once grown, they would be yellow level immortal grade precious and exotic grasses!
So, thinking of his own bare Moon Palace, he shamelessly asked Conghua for a big bag of seeds, then happily went back to the moon to plant flowers and herbs... and began to lead a leisurely life, picking chrysanthemums beneath the eastern fence.
Although Qin Shou could not move clouds and make rain, he still found use for the Water Clan he had brought with him. These Water Clan members could all handle water-type magic, some naturally and others learned. Eventually, these folks teamed up to create a formation beneath the Glazed Well, which allowed air in but prevented water from falling down, so that there was water inside without flooding the toad, while also not cutting off the toad’s airway.
Of course, Qin Shou was not sure whether this airway was of any use to the toad.
However, Qin Shou had a little scheme in mind, keeping this opening as an additional layer of security for the moon, since the laurel branches from the Toad Palace were quite formidable!
Afterward, Qin Shou encouraged everyone to pool their ideas and used a Red Spirit Crystal as the cornerstone to create a spring. The spring was placed right under the Glazed Well, and thus, the bubbling water flowed out, filling the lakes around the Moon Altar, then naturally carving out a river that flowed out of the Moon Palace. The stream grew wider and eventually turned into a river, meandering and flowing, passing through two other moon palaces before entering Fenghua City, stretching for thousands of miles!
Chang’e, curious, pinched Qin Shou’s rabbit ears and laughed, "Rabbit, why did you place the spring within the Moon Palace? It feels so strange..."
Instinctively recalling Dog Xiaotian drinking water, Qin Shou chuckled to himself... Having Fenghua City upstream? He could only laugh inside... Shouting in his heart, "Damn it, I don’t even trust living upstream, only the source gives me peace of mind!"
