Quills: the Rise of the Northern Matriarch-Chapter 101: Alliances 2
Chapter 101 - Alliances 2
"That was pretty amazing, Cerez." Nora smiled at him with a very pleased smile. Cerez's commanding side was impressive. She rarely saw it in day-to-day interactions. It made her burn for him. It had been months since she had scratched her sexual itch. It was not for a lack of wanting, it was medical.

"I have never seen her back down." Talan said in a daze. His reactions were slowed due to the medication. How Talan longed for the day he would be on the receiving end of that praise.
"There is a reason why Vida lives a very stress-free life. The Halid is far more powerful than any clan on this planet. You do not want to spite her," Cerez said with a laugh.
"Should we get this over with? How long do we need to be here?" Kai asked as he guided them to their spot.
"I just need a valid reason for accessing it." Talan said. They sat at a center table as people came by to greet them. When she saw they had been capturing images of them without their permission. Nora frowned and lowered her head. She took her veil off.
"Can you cover the carriers with this until we leave?" Nora said to Talan, who was already feeling tense because of the situation. They were all very upset with the situation.
"Please refrain from taking images of our children for their security." Talan said with a smile as he opened his interface. He logged into the Hudai portal and wiped all the recent images from all the guests' devices. He worked quickly while he was in the portal.
"Is it done?" Nora asked. She wanted to leave in the lobby. Talan nodded. The crowd dispersed around their table. Nora let out a sigh of frustration and looked at her spouses Kai, Cerez and Talan in relief. It was really attractive how they stood behind her in this. Even though this visit was annoying, it had an important purpose besides placating the Hudai's request to meet Sage. When Talan had logged into the Hudai portal and deleted the images, he left something behind for his brothers to upload when they submitted their work the next day. When Nora had called it 'Industrial Espionage' they liked it, but Talan liked the term 'Malicious Code'. Soon the code would disable the unfair punishments and deaths that Matriarch's could issue from their interfaces around the world, and it would only point back to the Hudai.
"Can we go yet?" Kai said, in Korean. Sage and Rex would inherit Quill Interfaces; the new company that Talan was setting up for them. Without the ability to punish and kill, there would be more room for alternatives. With the Hudai's reputation being ruined by this blow, their operating system would flourish. The operating system was endorsed by Clan Setton, and it came equipped with 'Setton Security Software' to encrypt Clan company software and back it up in a compressed format. It also scanned the contents for changes. It would prevent mistakes like the Hudai would be making tomorrow and onward from happening in the future with their software. The software also allowed for encryption of communications, which took the snooping eyes of the developers out of people's personal lives.
"We should stay longer to dispel suspicions," Talan said in Korean. Oddly enough, the idea for the security software did not come from Kai, it came from Solina, and it was implemented by both him and Nora. After months of seeing the Quill Interface in action and being slightly in the dark, she hatched the plan herself with Kehye. The plan seemed very bold to the Quills, who were more on the side of playing it safe. The power loss could lead to some susceptibility to danger on their part, but would they dare with the power of physical force commanded by the Setton Clan or Halid? The probability was there. The Hudai were about to face a crisis none of them could possibly fix. Nora pulled a fake happy smile on her face as the celebration went on. The Hudai would be unseated as one of the most powerful families on the planet. They ate their fill and chatted with all the Hudai and delegates that had come with gifts for the family. Why these were not sent to their home baffled the Quills. Both the infants started to fuss after two agonizing hours. Their tolerance was very low, but much higher than the adults. Nora and Talan made their excuses with the Hudai shortly after.
"Good enough," Nora said. She was fed up. Kai and Cerez summoned the transport to the entryway and performed a security check on it. After deactivating two location trackers of unknown origin on the hull of the transport, the group left the venue for their own home. Kai sent a message to Solina to advise them that they had found location trackers on the transport, he could do the analysis on the units with Kadir and, if possible, figure out who had attached the units. Solina asked that they leave that up to her, and she would also check with the security for the event to see if they could identify the perpetrators that had placed the trackers on the transport.
The cabin of the transport was silent except for the fussing of Sage and Rex. After checking their diapers, she knew that they must be either tired or hungry. Nora scooped Rex up and made soothing sounds. When Nora handled Rex so tenderly, her spouses were mesmerized by her. Her reverence for her children made them respect her. Her children were not trophies to her or an obligation, she just had so much love to give. She was protective enough to confront Lara because she slighted Rex. It was like confronting a beast. Cerez looked on, he felt emotional. She had given him so much, the healing farms he dreamed of were a reality and there was more as she developed more crops. He had two names and had reclaimed Halid as his own clan name, although he received it by law from the birth of his daughters and them being heirs. He now had a full identity and could wield the power of the Halid now. He looked a Talan. He also had the same, but he was now possibly giving up Hudai. This could destroy them, and it was for the best. Seeing that woman try to punish his Flower filled him with rage. Should Vida wait to confirm her joint allegiance with the Setton and Hudai to retaliate for today? He was quite offended.
"Are you hungry my little prince?" Nora said as she untied her top, exposing her swollen breasts. It hurt. She adjusted him in her arms, held him like a rugby ball and helped him latch to her breast. "Can someone hand me Sage please?" Nora said to her silent spousal group.
"Princess Sage, are you hungry?" Talan said as he responsibly picked up his daughter, smiling. He helped Nora by positioning Sage correctly in her arms, and he helped Sage latch by manipulating Nora's breast gently.
"You must be really sore, Nora. You started to lactate in my hand." Talan said and licked a little breastmilk off his hand. It tasted sweet. He knew that the formula that was made for infants was perfectly nutritional, but it did not compare to the intimacy that Nora developed with her children through breastfeeding. Their children were raised on a mixture of formula and breastmilk. The tense atmosphere of the cabin ebbed as they watched Nora feed the little ones. Talan started to sing a folk song as the two nursed. Nora smiled, surprised at Talan's voice and how it echoed so pleasantly in the Transport. It was beautiful. The transport made its way out of the Hudai compound and traveled to a programmed destination outside and hovered to a stop. The lights in the cab flickered as the operating system of the transport booted up from the partition it was installed on. The feather icon of Quill Industries software appeared in front of them and started its animation of slowly swirling delicately as it loaded up the software on the cab. When it was up a few seconds later the Setton Security software scanned the partition that had Hudai software installed on it.
"Anomaly found on Hudai Tech partition. Quarantined and saved for analysis to Setton Security Suite. Please open your personal interfaces for scanning." The automated voice of Quill Industries software announced in a replicated female voice. The adults opened their interfaces. Talan opened up the tiny basic interfaces for the infants which just showed basic health information.
"Scanning interfaces. Anomaly found. Restoring infected interfaces." Nora's interface quickly flashed on and off. Talan seethed as Sage, Rex and Nora's interface were turned off and on.
"Ow, ow, ow. Damn, my back really hurts without it numbing. Should I make an appointment with Janel to diagnose it", Nora said as she flinched for a few seconds as her interface was reinitialized. Talan looked enraged.
"Spying on me through my own children and Matriarch." Talan grumbled. His hands shook. "She could never let me go could she?" he continued. Nora looked at him sympathetically.
"How dare they?" Kai spat. He could not wait for the Hudai to fall from grace. He looked at Nora's pale face as the software on her interface returned to its previous version. She was the only one affected by their visit to the Hudai.
"Can someone take the babies, please. It is still spasming." Nora said as she waited for the pain to stop. Talan scooped up Sage and Cerez scooped up Rex.
"They will need to be patted on the backs to release any gas from their digestive tract. Rex might spit up." Nora weakly advised the two. Kai fastened her top and pulled her into his arms.
"We will need to wait until we get home to check what code was inserted into both the interfaces and the Transports interface. Solina will trace the origins of the two trackers. Since there were two of them, plus the software, we can assume that multiple clans may be involved. We know the software modification could only have been done by Clan Hudai. So we will figure that out and lodge an official complaint once I have evidence of the tampering." Talan said as he gently massaged and tapped his daughters' back and patted her back very gently. He was very pissed off, but his actions and tone did not display it at all. He lovingly laid her down in her carrier as the transport started to move. Cerez got a hearty burp from Rex and laughed. He laid their son down in his carrier for his safety and smiled at Talan.
"Good job Rex," Cerez said. He smoothed the soft red tuft of hair on the boys head gently and looked at his cute sleepy face.
"A complaint. Should we try using this to our advantage? I want compensation as well.' Nora said as she recovered.
"Depending on what they did, I am betting that they were attempting to spy on me. We could run the software on a fake interface and feed them false information?" Nora said. "There is a lot of harm that can be done by using misinformation. We just need to think it out and discuss it with our allies," Nora explained.
"This is all going to be dependent on what we find in the analysis. But one thing is certain, we are never visiting the Hudai again based on all the physical evidence alone." Kai said as he motioned to the deactivated trackers on the floor of the cabin.
"That was very offensive to find," Cerez said, agreeing with Kai.
"The whole ordeal was creepy and offensive. My father was less of a narcissist, and I am pretty sure he tried to kill me. But compared to her, he was a delight," Nora said.
"I am glad that you are a Quill, Talan. You never have to go back there again or answer any of their communication requests. You can say that I am way too offended by them to allow it," Nora said.
"I am sorry that we needed to see them this time, but you have done such a good thing for the world. I am so proud of you guys," Nora said. Talan looked up and smiled, his eyes welled with happy tears. He was relieved and sad at the same time. He now had a family of his own and people that loved him.
