Chapter 201: A Dirty Trap

After several days of preparation, Sophia finally set the date for the fashion show, along with all the outfits and stage props.

"President Morgan, the next step is casting. Do you already have your preferred candidates?"

Amelia handed her the report.

Sophia passed over a list she had prepared. "These are the people I’ve vetted. They’re suitable for our designs."

Amelia skimmed through it quickly and froze for a moment. "President Morgan... why are there faded celebrities on this list?"

"Faded?" Sophia looked at her calmly. "Amelia, do you think they’ve lost all commercial value?"

Sophia had specifically marked stars with outstanding image and presence—icons who once represented an entire generation’s youth.

Compared to today’s traffic-driven idols, they were indeed at a disadvantage.

But some designs could only be fully expressed by artists who had been tempered by time.

"President Morgan, isn’t this a bit risky? The fees you’ve marked for them are even higher than for many younger stars."

"When you invite people, you must be sincere," Sophia said evenly. "They’re not ’washed up’—they’re simply in a period of refinement. Think long-term, Amelia. Never forget, they were once the traffic giants too."

Amelia nodded firmly. "Understood, President Morgan. I’ll do my best to secure all of them."

Sophia waved her off and turned to her computer. Suddenly, a breaking headline popped up and caught her attention.

Sophia frowned. As she scrolled, she had already picked up her phone.

"Hello? Jodi—are you at the set?"

"I am."

"What’s going on with Harper?"

"There’s some trouble. It was done on purpose by the Cooper family’s young miss."

Sophia’s brow tightened. "Who? The Cooper family’s daughter?"

"Jenny."

...

Harper was in her hotel room, staring at the flood of vicious online comments on her phone, furious beyond words.

"This is insane! Are these people blind? One random rumor and they just run with it?"

She slammed her phone onto the bed and swept all her hair back in frustration.

Jodi stood nearby and spoke softly. "Calm down first. The PR team is already handling it."

"Handling it?" Harper snapped. "This is slander! How can they ’handle’ lies? If we respond the wrong way, it’ll look like we’re manipulating public opinion. That Jenny is something else—playing dirty and then dumping the blame on me!"

Harper paced back and forth, her hands clenched together, her face burning with anger.

Leon, standing to the side, felt dizzy just watching her. "Harper, you could stomp a hole through the floor and it still wouldn’t help. What matters now is finding proof that she framed you."

Jodi shot him a sideways glance and smiled. "Oh? Now you suddenly care about evidence?"

Leon scratched the back of his head, knowing she was mocking him for the mess he had caused before.

"What a nightmare this all is!"

A knock came from the door. A quick-moving young woman rushed in.

"Harper, the media has completely surrounded the hotel. And they’re not small outlets—there are definitely people from the Cooper family among them."

Seeing her assistant Lucy, Harper let out a tortured scream.

"It’s all that scheming bitch Jenny! That fake innocent white lotus! This is too much—everyone believes I bullied her, right? Fine. I’ll show them what real bullying looks like!"

She turned and charged toward the door. Lucy immediately grabbed her.

"Don’t, Harper! You have to stay calm. Every spotlight is on you right now—this is the worst possible timing!"

"Let go, Lucy! That low-class little fake—I’ve been way too polite to her!"

Jodi rubbed her temples helplessly as she watched them. "Enough. Stop it."

"Jodi, are you just going to watch me get bullied?"

Jodi sighed. "Just take a look at who’s outside."

Harper followed the direction of her gaze—

Sophia was climbing up against the window.

Harper’s breath hitched. "Sophia!"

Jodi walked over and opened the window. Sophia jumped straight in, her expression icy. "Something like this happens and you don’t tell me first—trying to handle it all on your own? If you really want to go after Jenny, go right now. I won’t stop you."

Harper blinked twice, instantly putting on a pitiful face as she rushed over and threw herself against Sophia’s shoulder. "My queen~ I’ve been bullied! You have to seek justice for me~"

After all the chaos, the only person who could truly keep her in check was Sophia.

Sophia stared at the marks on Harper’s face that clearly hadn’t faded yet and frowned. "What actually happened?"

"It all started yesterday. That fake innocent snake framed me."

On Sophia’s birthday, Harper’s face had indeed been injured—Jenny had "accidentally" scratched her with a prop.

Harper was afraid Sophia would worry, so she played along at the time. But once filming resumed, Jenny kept targeting her at every turn. Even now, it was impossible to tell whether that scratch had truly been an accident.

Yesterday, during a fighting scene, Harper was supposed to slap Jenny. She went to rehearse with her beforehand—but dressed in casual clothes. Someone secretly took photos and posted them online.

Jenny then posted a vague update, which quickly led people to believe Harper had threatened her.

"That fake little saint—doesn’t it just make you furious? I was so naïve back then, actually thinking she just wanted to rehearse seriously."

Sophia’s face darkened. "Jenny just entered the industry. How could she have gotten into this production so easily?"

"Exactly. And get this—one of the third or fourth female leads suddenly dropped out, so the role fell right into Jenny’s lap."

Jodi added from the side, "And the timing of that accident was just too perfect. It lined up exactly with Jenny stepping in as a replacement."

"I understand now," Sophia said calmly. "Right now, the public narrative is completely one-sided. Damage control is a must. But since you were only rehearsing with her, we need solid evidence."

Inwardly, Sophia couldn’t help wondering if she had dragged Harper into this.

There was a strong possibility Jenny was retaliating on behalf of Vivian. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

And there was another possibility too—this was aimed directly at her.

After all... she had never been nice to Jenny.

"Sophia, do you have a plan?" Harper asked.

"I do. But it’s risky. It could completely end her career in one shot. Harper—are you sure you’re ready for that?"

"Of course!" Harper snapped angrily. "If it weren’t for my current status, I’d take a scalpel and end her in minutes!"

She was seething. How dare someone threaten her and still pretend to be innocent?

Sophia nodded and lowered her voice. "Your brother is downstairs. He can handle things temporarily."

"What? My brother? He’s here too?"

"Of course he is. You’re his only sister. Do you really think he’d let you be wronged?"

As soon as she finished speaking, there was a knock at the door.

Harper flung it open and threw herself straight into William’s arms. "Bro—"

"Alright, it’s over. They’re gone," William said gently. "Do you think I don’t know your temperament? The one framing you is Jenny—the Cooper family’s younger daughter. She has an older sister named Vivian. The Cooper family’s power is comparable to ours, so I’ll handle the negotiations myself."

Confusion flashed in Harper’s eyes. "Negotiate? Brother, she framed me—are you seriously going to apologize for her? No way. I won’t allow it!"

William sighed, helpless. "Stop being unreasonable."

"William," Sophia said coldly, her gaze sharpening, "I agree with Harper. Anyone who dares bully Harper should be prepared to pay the price."

Her eyes turned glacial.
