QT: Against My Will-Chapter 617 - 11.01 - Daddy’s Debt - Undercover Mr. Jelly
The headquarters decided to drastically raise the points required for Bing Shi’s wish to be granted.
The wish now changed into a debt she had to pay off. Initially set at one hundred thousand points, they escalated the requirement to an almost unattainable one billion!
The reason was tied to Bing Shi’s prolonged absence, during which she continued to utilize the headquarters’ resources.
Despite her husband’s efforts to cover for her, the resources he expended in attempts to bring her back to life placed him in a similar level of debt as hers, if not worse.
When Xuan Mu proposed to pay off her debt first, the headquarters firmly rejected his offer. They understood his potential and were confident he’d soon be able to repay. However, their focus was on Bing Shi.
No one yet knew the extent of what she could do with her new godhood. They were intent on keeping Bing Shi indebted, determined to secure her by any means necessary!

In the headquarters’ boardroom, Xuan Mu stood with a serious expression, "I will grant Bing Shi’s wish for every hundred thousand points she earns in your stead. However, it’s important that she remains unaware of her actual ’debt’."
He paused to let his words sink in, "Bing Shi views this as a hobby and would likely continue her career as a host if the conditions were the same as before. This way, she can do what she loves, and we can manage her debt discreetly."
The court officials listened intently to his offer, which sounded too good to be true!
Xuan Mu’s final words carried a more ominous tone. "Consider my offer as a favor for our own safety," he continued, "If Bing Shi learns just how deep her debt really is, I can’t promise she’ll try to hunt down the HQ behind my back."
The headquarters’ officials were not like humans and didn’t really get scared or have egos. If they felt threatened, they would act defeated and then quietly disappear, which was something Xuan Mu wanted to avoid.
Finally, the head official spoke, "We agree to your terms. We’ll keep Bing Shi’s debt confidential and accept your proposal to grant her wishes for the points she earns."
"Thank you for your cooperation," said Xuan Mu. Aware of their true nature, he chose to accept their outward agreement, ""This meeting is now concluded."
His rise in this mysterious organization had been excruciatingly slow, yet, there was undeniable progress.
To outwardly acknowledge his status, the headquarters had set up a makeshift boardroom. This gesture was meant to signify his growing importance within their ranks.
However, Xuan Mu understood that this was merely a facade, a strategic move by the HQ to serve their own interests. It was a part of their play, acknowledging his role and value in a way that benefitted them, while carefully maintaining their own agenda and control over the situation.
Xuan Mu left the boardroom after dealing with other matters and went to visit the old chief.
Upon his arrival, the old chief greeted him with a familiar warmth. "Xuan Mu, long time no see," he said, rubbing his beard thoughtfully.
Xuan Mu greeted the old chief, "Still holed up in this cave, I see. I’m surprised you haven’t turned into part of the furniture yet."
The old chief chuckled at Xuan Mu’s remark, unfazed by the playful jab. Shifting the conversation, he leaned forward with a curious expression. "So, tell me about Bing Shi. How is she handling her godhood?"
Xuan Mu’s expression softened as he sat before the desk, "She’s adapting, as always," he replied.
The old chief nodded, his eyes reflecting a deep understanding. "It’s a challenging path, but knowing Bing Shi, she’ll not only adapt but also redefine what it means to wield such power."
Xuan Mu’s tone held a hint of irony as he responded to the old chief, "You are also a god of tolerance, aren’t you?" he asked, "What brought you to this bureaucratic maze, away from your divine duties?"
"Ah, the paths of gods are unpredictable. We come in all forms, some stronger, some weaker," the chief began. "After my unexpected ascent to godhood, I found refuge in this office," he began, "Even though I never sought this path initially, I felt a deep sense of responsibility to ensure the HQ’s stability and security."
The chief leaned forward, "It’s quite rare for the headquarters to collaborate with a human like you in such a direct and integrated manner. Typically, they prefer to work with other entities with a similar nature to ours...or Bing Shi’s."
Xuan Mu nodded, acknowledging the unusual nature of his partnership with the headquarters. "I just hope that nobody here is eyeing Bing Shi with the same intentions as some of her pesky admirers."
The old chief chuckled and changed his appearance to that of a strikingly handsome man. His long white hair cascaded down his shoulders, and his sharp gray eyes sparkled with allure, "Is this what you meant, my friend?"
"Or..." The chief paused, now in the form of an elegant woman, "Perhaps Bing Shi should be the one to be afraid, because I might just be eyeing you instead."
"I’d keep the beard if I were you." Not getting an answer he wanted, Xuan Mu stood up, "It makes you look distinguished and suits this place perfectly."
"At least someone understands why I keep it." The chief reverted to his old appearance, a knowing smile on his face as he began to rub his beard in habit, "I wish I could meet Bing Shi one day, but sometimes it’s for the best if certain meetings never happen."
"Yet you still allowed Victor to meet her," Xuan Mu scoffed.
"I just introduced a very strong individual to you, and it just happened to be Victor," the chief corrected Xuan Mu with a friendly smile, "There was a chance for her to become a Supreme God, and none of us wanted that outcome."
The Supreme God the old chief mentioned was for the scenario where Bing Shi would decide to abandon her humanity and ascend to the realm above the regular Gods. Once she became part of the Supreme God, she would be completely out of their reach.
Xuan Mu’s expression darkened, "For how long did you plan to keep Dai An a secret from me?"
Dai An’s appearance had completely flipped the situation, making the unattainable seem possible. That girl was obsessed with cultivation and hated being a human. If she obliterated Bing Shi’s spirit completely, she would have without a doubt not choose to become a God with human traits.
"If you were unable to find Dai An sooner, it only meant one thing. You were not strong enough to know about her, let alone be able to find her."
╔═══ Author’s note ════╗
Bing Shi had mentioned about becoming a blob of energy and being a part of a big fat planet, didn’t she?
She threw away a chance to become a peak of power without even realizing it. 😮💨
