QT: Against My Will-Chapter 612 - 10.24 - Xiao Pu’s inheritance - Rebirth Of The Heart
XiaoPu ordered the hover car to drive him to Edward’s and Seraphine’s home. He took a loan from William to restore it to its previous state, and was currently drowning in debt. He had no idea how he was going to pay it back, and wasn’t even bothered by it. It was uncle William’s money after all.
Despite inheriting the hover car, the house, and the land, XiaoPu’s inheritance came with its own set of limitations and obligations. He couldn’t sell those assets and had to maintain their condition if he wanted to use them.
Once he reached the entrance, he kicked off his shoes and dropped his backpack. Grabbing a few drinks and snacks from the kitchen, he went to the living room to watch the most popular romantic series.
On the screen, a rich, dashing male was displaying interest in a girl from humble beginnings. The scenario struck a chord with Xiaopu, and he couldn’t help but let out a burst of laughter mixed with tears, "Isn’t this exactly like my situation?"
"I’m totally screwed," XiaoPu whispered to himself, stopping his laughter abruptly when the female lead lost all her friends because of the male lead’s interference, "Going against rich folks as a poor guy is like fighting a dragon with a foam sword."
When the guy in the movie began to use extreme measures to obtain the girl, XiaoPu made the 囧 expression. It looked exactly like something Knox would be capable of doing.
"What would Seraphine do?" XiaoPu asked himself, seeking guidance from the memory of his godmother.

Later that evening, the doorbell rang, and XiaoPu hurried to open the door, revealing William and his daughter.
William grinned as he glanced at XiaoPu’s disheveled appearance. "You look terrible. Is it because of Knox?" The time flew on so fast. The boy had almost grown as high as him, but his behavior didn’t change in the slightest.
XiaoPu rubbed the dark circles under his eyes and invited them inside. "How do you know?"
"You probably spent whole nights watching TV and playing games again, but it wouldn’t be a reason to call your uncle over for sure," William chuckled. "I realized that lad really hates me. It didn’t take long to figure out why."
"That’s perfect, at least I won’t need to explain the situation for you." Xiao Pu draped his arms around William, "Let’s take a picture together, Uncle William. I’ll send it to Knox and tell him that I can’t date him because I have a one-sided crush on you."
"You know I’ve had my fill of sparring with Daniel, right? Don’t make me add his son to the list too. I’m too old for this." William’s brows twitched, watching how XiaoPu really did exactly what he had just mentioned, "Have I ever told you that you are just like Seraphine?"
"Every single time you see me," said XiaoPu, draping his shoulder over the eleven years old girl’s shoulder, "Hey Emma, do you like spending time with your dad?"
Emma nodded enthusiastically, "Yeah! We do fun stuff together when he is not busy, like going to the park and playing games."
XiaoPu looked at Emma with a playful expression and said, "And would you like an older brother like me?"
Emma’s eyes widened with excitement, and she nodded eagerly, "Yes please, I want Yun Pu to be my big brother!"
XiaoPu and Emma turned their puppy eyes on William.
"Daddy, can you adopt XiaoPu?" Emma looked at William with hopeful expressions, silently pleading for his approval, making it impossible for him to resist her charms.
William drilled his fist against XiaoPu’s head, "You punk, trying to trick me into adopting you? You are not an orphan. Both your parents are alive and loving, and you are old enough to get married, why are you still acting like a kid?"
XiaoPu rubbed his nose as he ushered them inside and swapped the romantic movie for a kids’ film, "Yours are alive and loving too, and see how you ended? You still keep running away from them."
William’s mouth twitched, unable to respond to the truth in XiaoPu’s statement, "What happened?"
"My parents...they finally accepted that I don’t want to attend a university. But they really, really hate that I keep taking loans from you instead of finding a stable job."
"What about your career in underground boxing?"
"I got fired after a month, and I’m pretty sure now that Knox was behind it. That shrewd son of a b-" XiaoPu covered his mouth before Emma, careful not to teach her a bad word, "Anyway, I need to find another way to practice my strength, one that also brings in an income to pay my bills. Working as a bodyguard for a celebrity just won’t cut it."
Edward and Serapine started training XiaoPu from as long as he could remember. It wasn’t just so he could defend himself in a fight; it was to prepare him to meet Stinky Bun.
William couldn’t help but tease, "You know, if you married Knox, half your problems would disappear."
Xiao Pu scoffed, "Yeah, right. And I’d inherit double the new ones... Uncle William, does it get lonely staying single?"
William responded with a reflective smile, "As long as you have people in your life who care, who listen, who understand and support you, that’s what counts. And in time, you’ll learn to enjoy your own company too."
XiaoPu wrapped his arms around William in a warm, grateful hug, "Well, I just hope I don’t end up too much like you, Uncle William. Being single is fine, I guess, but being overly protective of your daughter, I’m afraid she will probably have to sneak out just to have a normal day without her dad hovering around like a helicopter."
"..." William hit XiaoPu’s head in response, "Look who is speaking. You’re always the one who comes running to play with her even though she’s got a nanny."
"Someone’s got to check on her regularly when you are too busy with work, you know," XiaoPu offered Emma some snacks and his remote control, "How else would you find out that one of your nannies was training Emma to call her mama, huh?"
William smiled helplessly. XiaoPu was the only person he trusted enough to allow to get close to his daughter.
