Chapter 588: 9.10 - [END] MuMu Is A Mystery - Jelly Household

The night was clear, and the sky above was a canvas of twinkling stars, each one shimmering like a tiny gemstone.

Dai An rubbed her eyes in disbelief as she watched the infamous provocateur go from a cunning schemer to lovestruck idiot in a heartbeat, "You let her go unscratched just like that?"

Xuan Mu cuddled Bing Shi and pulled the blanket over their bodies, "Yeah? Is there something wrong with it?"

"..." Dai An rested her head against his chest, her arms encircling his waist under the blanket, "I’m not complaining, I’m just saying. I wanted to wake Bing Shi up because her feelings made me feel guilty. They are still nagging me to accompany you until MuMu gets satisfied."

"..." Xuan Mu’s eyes were still fixed on Bing Shi’s peaceful face, "MuMu is fine."

Dai An raised the blanket, "He’s not. Look at him, all sad and deflated."

"..." Xuan Mu spanked her hand, "Don’t touch MuMu. He is tired."

"But..." Dai An retreated her hand, her brows furrowed in confusion, "How can MuMu get tired if he hasn’t done anything?"

Xuan Mu tugged her under the blanket, "I don’t know. MuMu is a mystery."

"Okay," Dai An accepted the answer and returned to her initial position, her head resting on his chest.

"Sleep now, and don’t worry about me," Xuan Mu said, "or MuMu either."

"I won’t then," Dai An closed her eyes.

"Good girl," Xuan Mu said.

A short silence fell between them before Dai An spoke again, "Are you sure you are okay? Because I’m pretty sure I heard something."

"..." Xuan Mu took a deep breath, "What did you hear?"

"MuMu’s grumbling," Dai An said, raising the blanket again and peeking underneath.

"He’s not grumbling," Xuan Mu reassured her, tugging her under the blanket one more time, "MuMu is fast asleep. You must have heard his snoring."

"I am a light sleeper. I can distinguish MuMu’s grumbling from his snoring," Dai An said.

"..." Xuan Mu held back not to give in, "I was just talking to MuMu and he said he wants to rest now."

"But...you didn’t say anything," Dai An said.

"We have a special way of communicating. I talk, MuMu answers," Xuan Mu explained, "Now stop talking, you’re disturbing him."

"Oh...okay," Dai An replied, "I didn’t know you could talk to each other. What a special bond!"

"...Yes," Xuan Mu agreed, trying to keep his poker face, "You have no idea."

"I bet MuMu is saying a lot of sweet things to you right now," Dai An said with a quiet giggle.

"You really want to get bent over my knee right now, don’t you?" Xuan Mu threatened her playfully, "If you keep this up, I will throw you into the lake."

Dai An nodded. She just wanted to prolong their making-out session for Bing Shi’s sake and didn’t realize how her unresponsiveness was making him feel. "If you allow me to give a good night kiss to MuMu, both me and Bing Shi will be content."

"You can give it a morning kiss together with Bing Shi tomorrow," Xuan Mu suggested.

"That sounds nice," Dai An said, closing her eyes, the guilt in her heart dissipating. "Good night."

"Good night," Xuan Mu said, drifting to sleep with a half smile, ’I think I should keep a lock on my dick.’

’I can’t believe there exists another woman that puts a dick in higher regard than her own husband,’ Ziek nagged.

’Both of them come from the same soul. What did you expect?’ joined Ru Quan. Compared to Xuan Mu, he would have been completely defenseless against Dai An’s and Bing Shi’s combined advances.

’Just don’t be stupid like the old man and make sure to keep the key out of their reach,’ added Lu Kai.

The water glistened under the warm sun by the tranquil lakeside, reflecting the clear blue sky. A gentle breeze rustled the leaves of nearby trees, creating a soft whisper in the air.

Amidst this serene setting, a cute toddler stood, his tiny fingers outstretched toward the lake’s surface, "Mommy, mommy!" A fish!

Stinky Bun pointed at dark, mysterious objects that floated gracefully on the water’s surface.

Bing Shi scrunched her eyes to get a better view, "..." She quickly tugged at Ru Quan’s sleeves. Those black things looked like the pants and underwear she and Dai An wore last night!

"..." Ru Quan cleared his throat, making the black clothes disappear.

"Daddy?" Stinky Bun rubbed his eyes in confusion.

Bing Shi sighed in relief. When she woke up in the morning, she was already back in the inn.

’~We still owe MuMu a morning kiss.’

That’s correct. It would have to wait for another morning as there was no way for Bing Shi and Dai An to do it in the presence of their sons.

Bing Shi stretched her limbs, looking for any hangover signs, ’Our alcohol tolerance is quite high, huh? So many drinks, and we still didn’t get drunk.’ 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

’~Surprisingly, yes,’ Dai An slipped inside Shina’s body. To avoid arousing suspicion, she stayed in a coma-like state.

Ru Quan caught the bolting toddler and walked towards the carriage with his wife and oldest son.

"Are you nervous to meet your real family?" Bing Shi asked, taking XiaoPu’s hand in hers.

"What do you mean?" XiaoPu felt uneasy as he shifted his weight from foot to foot and swallowed hard.

He looked up at Bing Shi and Ru Quan. He had said that he wanted to visit his birthplace one day. Did they take a break from their jobs just to accompany him?

XiaoPu wasn’t just a product of code and data; he was a system born from the essence of a human soul. The HQ’s objective was to find a soul that could withstand the relentless flow of time while steadfastly remaining a faithful companion.

XiaoPu’s purpose was to nurture and amplify the humanity within his hosts, reminding them of the depth of their emotions and the importance of their connections with others.

His origin was rooted in an extraordinary world. This world was uniquely able to periodically reset itself to a specific point in time, a phenomenon that offered its leads a rare chance to rewrite their destinies.

Bing Shi and her husband were waiting for the precise moment when XiaoPu would be born inside that world—they tweaked the process a bit to fasten it.

Tears welled up in XiaoPu’s eyes as he leaped into Ru Quan’s embrace, clinging to him with a desperate, heart-wrenching cry. His voice trembled as he cried out, "No! Don’t abandon me! You promised we would go together as a family!"

Ru Quan gently patted XiaoPu’s head, trying to console the trembling boy. "Don’t be afraid. We will be right on your track."

He tenderly kissed XiaoPu’s forehead, their last touch before sending him into a woman’s waiting womb. It was a bittersweet farewell.

"Pupu?" Stinky Bun’s innocent eyes scanned the carriage, confusion etched on his face as he realized XiaoPu was nowhere to be found.

Bing Shi gently cradled Stinky Bun in her arms and then turned to her husband, "Do you think we made the right choice?" she asked, uncertainty clouding her thoughts.

Ru Quan’s gaze held a mix of emotions, reflecting the weight of their decision. "That boy always yearned to find out about his past and meet his real family," he whispered.

I hope you enjoyed this short arc as much as I did. 😁

In the ARC LIST auxiliary Chapter, you can suggest worlds you want to see or novels you want me to incorporate; I think this little family would love to visit them for their next trip. 😏
