Chapter 73: Unexpected Encounter

The amount of disdain on Sadistic Flame’s face shut Lyle up. She did not even bother to explain, simply hanging up on the wall that Kaizer had telekinetically pinned her to while glancing at him with a slight smile.

After all, who cared if Lyle believed it? He was simply nothing more than a discarded pawn whose life was not even guaranteed past the next few seconds. The important thing was to make Kaizer believe it, because as the strongest person here, he was the most qualified to speak.

"I-"

BOOOOOM!

Sadistic Flame began to speak, but was cut off by a terrible explosion that erupted within the sewer area, searing hot flames and tremendous exploding force converging upon this area and sweeping outward, blowing the grate that led to the bay and boiling the dirty water there.

The heat caused the damp air to become hot, and the sheer amount of smoke blocked the view of the area within. It was only when the sound of agonized coughing was heard that one saw the dust being forcibly swept away by a strange power.

The area had been reduced to a blackened mess with debris everywhere but within the central area where Kaizer had stood. No, the scene within was that of the young man standing there casually with a deep frown, Barnes, Lyle, Sadistic Flame, and Crystal Ice wearing expressions of utter terror as they sat on the ground, their bodies trembling.

A translucent psychic barrier enveloped the area, but even this barrier had slight cracks on it, which was why Kaizer was frowning like this. He was scanning the area with his telesthesia, but there was something blocking his perception, like a searing wall of flame that burned his psychic force when it got close.

From the area where Kaizer had come from, a figure walked out of the ruined tunnel, capturing the attention of everyone still alive in the area. Seeing him, the pupils of the other four constricted, while Kaizer’s eyebrows were raised in surprise.

It was a recognizable figure, a hunchbacked old man in his sixties who had blazing red hair and a long crimson beard that reached his abdomen area. He wore bright red robes in the style of an ancient oriental emperor, and he wore a confident smile on his face.

Blaze!

"Eh? There’s still someone alive? Oh, it’s you, kid." Blaze was initially surprised then calmed down when he saw Kaizer. frёewebηovel.cѳm

The old man glanced around and saw that apart from the five within Kaizer’s barrier, everything else had been reduced to blackened corpses, and that included the African American man as well as his incapacitated allies.

"Tsk, tsk, so many casualties. I’ll have to get the forensic squad to identify them and write a report. Sigh, what a hassle." Blaze said with lament, before walking forward casually.

However, he stopped when Kaizer raised a hand and created a telekinetic wall between Blaze and the way forward, halting the old man on the spot.

"What are you doing here?" Kaizer asked coldly.

Blaze looked at Kaizer as if he was an idiot. "There has been a crime scene with murder and illegal fighting and you’re asking why the authorities are here?"

Kaizer was nonplussed. "Nothing shows you are part of the authorities. Last time I put up with you because of the situation and pretended to play along, but what proof do you have that you’re with the Supreme Force?"

Blaze humphed. "Boy, don’t trouble me. Asking for my ID? Sure, here it is."

Blaze reached into his robe and ruffled around confidently, looking like he was about to enjoy the scene where Kaizer was face slapped and had to lower his head in apology for wronging him. However, Blaze’s confident smile began to wane as he checked all the pockets of his robe, not finding what he was looking for within.

The area became deathly silent the next moment.

Blaze, whose expression was weird, immediately spoke up. "Would you believe me if I said I left it at home?"

Kaizer did not continue to indulge the old man, pointing downwards as he released crushing telekinetic force upon him. Blaze sensed the impending danger and reacted abhorrently fast, a square of flame the size of a glass panel appeared above his head, clashing with the telekinetic power.

Kaizer frowned because just like last time he fought Blaze at the cemetery, he noticed that the man’s flames were created out of nowhere and were extremely potent. Using Sadistic Flame as a comparison, Blaze was like a bonfire while Sadistic Flame was a mere matchstick.

Kaizer also noticed that whether it was Crystal Ice or Sadistic Flame, their abilities could wear down his telekinetic power and directly affect it, meaning that his telekinesis, power as it was, was not invincible.

Then again, this was normal. Kaizer usually used his telekinesis the wrong way, often using it like a bludgeon compared to using it like a sharp sword, which was the essence of telekinesis.

Like right now, he made a casual crushing attack from above, but he did that because it was a quick way to take down an unsuspecting foe. Against one as skilled and powerful as Blaze, who had many ways to deal with this kind of thing, this was definitely not the way to go.

"Wow! Young man, your power has increased greatly compared to last time. A casual telekinetic attack from you is like being hit by a fucking car, what the hell." Blaze cursed with a shocked expression.

Kaizer stomped on the ground and charged forward like a bullet by utilizing transvection to telekinetically carry his body forward along with his built-up momentum. With a slight blue outline surrounding his silhouette like an aura, Kaizer pounced forward with a fist imbued and enhanced by telekinetic power.

"Haha, I like this young man! Face me head on!" Blaze roared with laughter as his body suddenly became buffer, flames erupting from him as he propelled himself forward like a rocket and traded blows with Kaizer, his fists imbued with red flames.

BANG!

The two clashed, and Kaizer confirmed his suspicions at this moment as his telekinetic force did not suppress Blaze like before, but rather seemed to even out.

Kaizer then utilized telekinesis to enhance his body, throwing another punch faster than the human eye could follow. Blaze also propelled his hand forward as the joint at his elbow released a jet of flame, matching Kaizer’s speed as their fists clashed again.

Kaizer did not stop, maintaining this mind-bending speed as he threw out constant punches, causing his figure to flash as if he had multiple arms. Surprisingly, Blaze easily matched this as the old man grinned wildly, his form also becoming overlapped.

This was why the Dena included physical training in Kaizer’s regime. Without a strong body to withstand this manipulation by his powerful telekinetic power, his muscles would probably rip apart and his bones would dislocate due to the speed he was moving at.

Even then, he was feeling pain all over his body as Kaizer stopped the exchange and distanced himself slightly, his cold expression slightly darker. Meanwhile, Blaze remained where he was and flexed his rather large muscles for his height and form, his teeth bared in an arrogant grin.

"Haha, boy, how was it? This old man isn’t bad, am I?" Blaze taunted as he continued to pose and flex.

"You aren’t an A-grade esper, you lied to the whole world. You are an S-class esper." Kaizer responded in a deep manner, his eyes never leaving Blaze.

Blaze stopped posing as his smile waned. He regained his superior demeanor and folded his arms behind his back with a slight smile on his wrinkled face. "Correct, Lunin boy. You are not bad, you have the air of bastard Gerald."

Blaze grinned, but his smile was cold and filled with ferocious intent. "Just like him, you are good at reading minds and invading people’s personal privacy, huh?"

Kaizer did not say anything. Right from the start, he had never been able to read Blaze’s mind, even back then at the cemetery, because the old man seemed to have received some training, using his fire power to weave a barrier around his mindscape but burned any psychic intrusion to ashes.

Now, Kaizer could guess why. This guy had likely suffered at the hands of his grandfather in the past, which also explained why Blaze was so hostile to him back then.

"Hah, just kidding Lunin boy. You can’t read my mind because I have already become immune to mental invasion, otherwise how could the Supreme Force dare to appoint me as Chief of the Headquarters in Alpha City?" Blaze suddenly dispersed his hostile aura and became playful.

Seeing Kaizer remain on his guard, not saying a word, Blaze became more casual. "Young man, don’t glare at me like that. Is there any way to show gratitude after all I’ve done for you? If it was not for me having my subordinates send you the introductory document about the esper world, would you even know about the academy?"
