Psychic Overlord-Chapter 147: Tousou (The Battle) 11
Chapter 147: Tousou (The Battle) 11
ZZZHM!
A huge flash of light erupted at Lucian’s position, causing many in the crowd to cover their eyes as their retinas stung, but even so, they tried their best to keep their eyes open so that they wouldn’t miss the outcome.
The light cleared and revealed Kaizer still in his defensive position while Lucian was a few meters behind him, his previously sheathed sword now fully drawn in a slashing motion.
Both young men stood frozen in place as the wind blew and the dust settled, causing the crowd to tensely wonder who had come out on top.
Kaizer was the first to move, sighing audibly as he stood up, glancing at his beaten shield which began to crack and slowly broke off, dispersing into blue motes of light. Likewise, his jian construct also shattered and turned into light spots that drifted away.
"That has to be the strongest goddamn iai slash in the entire world. What was that, the speed of light?" Kaizer asked as he glanced upwards with a sad expression towards his shattered constructs.
Lucian, who was still in his posture, finally moved as his body twitched and his mouth spoke coldly. "Near the speed of light. The actual speed of light would have vaporized me."
Kaizer nodded and turned. "Not bad, you do have something special about you. But your time is up, go down."
As soon as Kaizer said this, a huge spurt of blood erupted from Lucian’s chest, shocking the crowd and the medics by the side as this was the first time blood had been spilled in the entire tournament.
This caused a small-scale panic as medics rushed down to tend to Lucian, but the foremost among them was a pompously dressed middle-aged man with combed hair that was parted down the middle, a mustache that was neatly trimmed, and a short goatee that was razor-perfect.
He wore a tweed suit with stripes, his face full of seriousness as he glanced at Lucian, kneeling down to touch his neck to check for a pulse.
"He’s alive," the man said, turning to the nearby medics who sighed with relief.
"Well, what are you lot waiting for? Get down there and revive my student!" The man barked, revealing himself to be Tavion Hunt, Lucian’s chosen mentor.
While the medics scrambled to carry out his order, Tavion turned his gaze towards Kaizer who was not even looking at his defeated foe, rather glancing towards Tessa, his next opponent.
Tavion felt irritated by this and folded his arms behind his back. "Such a cruel nature and disposition, I doubt whether the esper world could be peaceful if such a person were to become the strongest."
Kaizer glanced at Tavion slightly and then turned away, not interested in such a person. However, just because Kaizer did not care did not mean that others wouldn’t.
"Who the fuck let their dog out? This fool here, do you believe I will make you run laps around this stadium naked if you don’t shut your dirty mouth?" Rina swore, coming down to stand beside Kaizer with her aura flaring.
Being so close to death itself, Tavion’s expression changed as he felt the pressure right away. However, the entire esper world was tuned in currently, so if he was scared away, he would become a laughingstock.
He would simply have to bet on the fact that this lass did not dare!
"Hmph, young lady did no one teach you manners? How can you speak like that to an academy instructor?" Tavion shouted with righteous fury, his eyes wide with anger.
Rina though, was not here to play his game. "I dare you to keep standing there by the time I finish counting to five."
"Five..." She began coldly.
Tavion’s face changed. "You! How dare you!"
"Four..."
"Oh? Now this is an interesting development," Rafael commented as he sat up, now drawn in to the conflict below. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
"Three..."
"What a feisty little girl. I like her, she would do well in the Supreme Force," Commander Rae commented with a hint of fondness.
The other men only felt their lips twitch.
"Two..."
"She wouldn’t actually do it, right?" Carlisle asked with a hint of morbid curiosity.
"She will," Madam Sylvia and Dean Rochester said at the same time.
"One..."
Carlisle was stunned. "Then why not stop her before it’s too late?!"
The other instructors also looked over questioningly, only to see Madam Sylvia smiling wryly while Dean Rochester rubbed the bridge of his nose.
"...we can’t," they said simultaneously again.
"Zero...!"
Rina finished her count and immediately unleashed a wave of death aura towards Tavion, who had been jabbering and criticizing her all this while, hoping to get her to back down. Seeing that the young woman actually dared to strike towards him, he was incredibly frightened.
He was merely an A+ class esper on the brink of S-, he was no match for Rina who was at S+!
The gap between them was a chasm of natural talent that age nor experience could cover for. However, his pride and standing did not allow him to back down before a student, especially since his own student was S-class.
Seeing the death cloud, Tavion yelped and almost fell over himself, but his body was held in place by a stronger force, noticing that a figure had come to stand before him.
Wreathed in glowing golden flame was an older man with a rather muscular frame draped in crimson and black robes embroidered with the very fire surrounding him. His long, fiery-orange hair cascaded over his shoulders while his sharp amber eyes seemed to contain the fury of the sun within.
He exuded a casual arrogance, one hand raised to stop Rina’s death cloud by unleashing his golden flame to match it while he wore a casual smile filled with endless confidence.
"Young lady, you should know when to stop. The joke is no longer funny," the old man spoke casually, scolding her as if he was her guardian.
"Huh? Which rat are you? Old man, you’d better piss off to the retirement home lest I send you six feet under," Rina replied with furrowed brows.
The old man’s face warped into a frown as he felt Rina’s words were truly vile. No wonder this incompetent instructor was so incensed that he refused to back down when he was outmatched.
Kaizer, who had not been paying much attention, with no plans to stop Rina’s tantrum, suddenly turned and faced the old man with golden flame, obvious coldness in his eyes.
"I think that a mere instructor could draw you out, Davion Faust," Kaizer said coldly as he walked over, his psychic power boiling.
The old man, now named, was naturally puzzled as he turned to Kaizer. "You know me?"
Kaizer came to a stop beside Rina, noting that Davion was truly able to use his strange golden flame to equalize with Rina’s death aura. Potent as it was, Rina’s death aura basically could not kill the golden flame fast enough to threaten this Davion guy.
This made Kaizer’s hostility multiply greatly.
"Of course I do, everyone here does. However, they know you by a different name. Isn’t that right, Solaris of the Ancients?" Kaizer revealed casually.
Immediately, a shockwave of screams rippled through the crowd as emotions full of negativity far greater than Kaizer’s telepathy reveal could ever muster occurred at once. Many literally recoiled, pushed backwards and away as if this man was a snake that was about to eat them, fear on their faces.
"Oh my god, the actual Lord of the Sun!"
"Solaris?! The True Lord of the Ancients?! He’s fucking here?!"
"What are the academy doing by allowing this monster in?!"
"Mommy, save me! I won’t be a bad boy again!"
In the Supreme Force Box, all the commanders stood up and immediately formed a protective perimeter around President Ethan Voss, the man himself losing his casual demeanor as his eyes narrowed coldly.
"The Esper Academy has truly fallen. They actually let a True Lord in during the year-end festival. This will not end well at all," Ethan Voss commented bluntly, making the foreheads of the commanders crease.
In the Heirs Pavilion, the second generations were stunned beyond belief.
"True Lord Solaris? How the fuck did he get in?!" Rafael asked, dropping his drink.
"No, the more important question is who let him in. The academy is the home ground of the dean, only an insider could let him break in," Alexei deducted seriously.
Davion was livid. "You’re forgetting that the dean was away for 8 whole months training that cretin! That’s more than enough time to punch holes into the academy’s defenses!"
This...
They all shared uncertain looks and felt that this was true until Ryu Kurosawa spoke in a deep tone.
"Even if that is the case, why reveal himself now? Everyone who is someone in the esper world is here, all the Supreme Force top commanders, the Dean himself and the top instructors, as well as the seven S-class students."
Ryu shook his head. "It can’t be that a True Lord of the Ancients came here to die, right?"
