Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 799 - 797: Tying You To Keep Me Company(5)_1
Tiptoeing to the door, Camila Ruiz pressed her ear against it, listening intently for any movement outside. It was quiet. Not a sound.
She guessed there was no one standing guard.
She carefully tried to turn the doorknob and, to her surprise, the young man hadn’t locked it.
She immediately opened the door, but her face instantly turned pale. She let out a sharp scream and stumbled several steps backward. Fleeing so hastily, she fell to the ground. Her beautiful eyes, wide with terror, stared at the python in front of the door—it was as thick as a grown man’s wrist. The snake hissed at her, probably warning her not to think of stepping outside.
No wonder it was so silent outside. No person was standing guard—instead, a snake had taken the role.
The sight of the large python, coiled into a mass, made goosebumps crawl all over her skin.
Even men would feel their scalp tingle at the sight of such a thick snake, let alone a girl of her age.
"Don’t, don’t come in..."
Camila was terrified, scooting backward on the ground, fearing the python would slither in and swallow her in one gulp.
Fortunately, the snake merely coiled at the doorway, its serpent eyes fixated on her, tongue flicking out, and didn’t move an inch closer.
Camila didn’t have the courage to approach the door and shut it again.
Damn it!
"Thinking of running away? Hehe, it’s useless. I’ve been thinking about it for ten years and still can’t leave this godforsaken place," the young man said as he reemerged.
How could there be a python in a place where birds don’t even lay eggs? Moreover, judging by the furnishings inside, this place should be a villa.
Camila’s legs had gone weak from the scare of the giant python; right now, they were trembling.
The young man was not at all afraid of the large python. When he walked past it, he affectionately patted its head, and the snake excitedly licked his hand with its tongue, as if it belonged to him.
"Finn, you scared my honored guest," he said.
Camila was perplexed. The snake was yellow and black, yet he called it Finn.
Finn looked at Camila with its snake eyes, and she almost had the delusion that the cold-blooded creature was trying to apologize to her.
The young man didn’t continue talking with the snake. He walked straight into the room and reached out his large hand, which appeared big compared to Camila’s small hand.
Instinctively, Camila reached out, letting him grab her and pull her to her feet.
Her legs were still shaky; the fright had really gotten to her.
She was standing, but as soon as he let go, her legs gave way. She was about to collapse to the floor again when the young man quickly caught her around the waist.
"So, do you remember who I am?" the young man asked, looking at her with his bottomless, dark eyes, a hint of a smile on his face. Camila had the impression that his gaze was greedy, aggressively devouring her with his eyes.
As if he missed her so much.
Camila glared at him. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
After waiting a while without a response, the young man let out a resigned, bitter laugh. "Stinky Camila, after ten years, you treat me like this? That’s heartbreaking."
Stinky Camila?
In her memory, only her childhood nemesis, Jimmy Horne, would call her that. She had protested countless times, argued with him endlessly, and fought with him countless times, but still couldn’t get him to change.
Could it be that this young man was actually Jimmy Horne?
Camila stared at him in disbelief. Could he really be Jimmy?
Upon closer examination of his handsome face, it really did look familiar. He bore a strong resemblance to Uncle Noah and even a bit like Aunt Adele. It was him! No wonder she found him so familiar yet couldn’t recall who he was at that moment.
So, it was Jimmy Horne!
"Jimmy Horne!"
The young man smiled, this time with a hint of indulgence. "You see? If I don’t call you Stinky Camila, you don’t recognize me. So, it’s best I stick to calling you Stinky Camila."
"Damn it, you scoundrel! You actually had me tied up and brought here! You..." Camila Ruiz burst into a rage. After ten years, this was how Jimmy Horne treated her! Having her kidnapped from her own doorstep and brought here! What place was this? Hadn’t he said he didn’t know? Wasn’t he supposed to have been thrown into some training base by the elders of the Flame Sect for intense training? Was this that legendary base?
"Why do you curse at me like a wife scolding her husband?" Jimmy Horne teased with a smile.
A pillow, with all the force of a roaring thunderbolt, flew at him.
Once Camila Ruiz recognized it was Jimmy Horne, she no longer cared about her image. Her legs weren’t weak anymore. She quickly returned to the bed, grabbed the pillow, and hurled it at Jimmy Horne with all her might.
After ten years apart, he had become even more insufferable, taking verbal advantage of her.
Who wanted to argue with him like they were husband and wife!
Jimmy Horne casually stretched out a hand and caught the pillow she threw. He tossed it toward the door with ease. Finn, thinking it was a bed given to him by Jimmy Horne, immediately and excitedly coiled on top of the pillow.
Seeing Finn’s actions, Camila’s hands trembled again.
That Finn... She was terrified of it!
"Let’s go downstairs for food. You must be hungry by now," Jimmy Horne said with a smile, stepping forward to take her hand, utterly ignoring the fury in her eyes.
She hadn’t changed a bit, still as quick-tempered as he remembered. Auntie Rachel’s decade and a half of hard work had been in vain.
This summer, with her company, would definitely be thrilling.
"Get your filthy hands off me!" Camila, still seething, slapped his hand away the moment he reached for her.
Hehe.
Still in high spirits, Jimmy Horne smiled. "Then make your own way out of the room." With that, he turned and walked away.
The moment he left, Finn coiled back at the doorway. It stared at Camila with its serpentine eyes, its forked tongue flicking in and out, causing her complexion to pale instantly again.
"Jimmy Horne, if you have guts, then don’t walk away!"
"I’ve always had guts." Jimmy Horne, who had seemingly disappeared into the room, now reemerged at the door. He hadn’t really left at all.
"I... I want to get out." Camila pointed at Finn, her face pale, speaking in a low voice, "Make this cold-blooded, terrifying creature go away."
Before she could even finish speaking, Finn suddenly lunged, stretching out its body to attack her.
"AH—"
"Finn!"
Jimmy Horne called out sternly. Only then did Finn reluctantly recoil, while Camila had already collapsed back onto the ground in fear.
Damn it, Jimmy Horne! Of all things to keep, why a python? Was he trying to scare her to death on purpose?
"She’s a girl; it’s normal for her to be afraid of you. Even some of the old-timers here can’t stand you at times, so don’t frighten her anymore," Jimmy Horne said to Finn, his voice low and soft.
Finn seemed to understand him and lowered its head.
Standing in front of Camila again, Jimmy Horne bent down slightly, extended his calloused yet gentle hand, and said softly, "This time, you’ll let me help you up, alright?"
Fuming, yet reluctantly, Camila placed her small hand into Jimmy Horne’s large one, glaring fiercely at him. He was doing this on purpose!
